Periodontal treatment by conventional way will result in healing repair, which easily cause recurrence. Modification of treatment should be done to get an effective result, that is the regeneration of alveolar bone and to reduce inflammation. The objective of this study is to determine the alveolar bone regeneration after using DFDBA (Demineralize Freeze Dried Allograft). Quasi experimental designs with pre and post test method was used in this study, From 13 patients, 26 defects got conventional or regenerative treatment. The indicator of alveolar bone regeneration in bone height in radiographic appearence and level of osteocalsin in gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) were checked before and after the treatment, then the changes that occure were analyzed. The result of the research showed that alveolar bone regeneration only occurred to the group of regenerative treatment by using DFDBA. The conclusion is the effective periodontal tissue regeneration occurred at regenerative treatment by using DFDBA, and the osteocalsin in GCF can be used as indicator of bone growth."

"Background: Microtia reconstruction is a challenge for ENT Head and Neck surgeons. Varioussurgical techniques using autograft cartilage have been done to perform auricular reconstruction.Knowledge of cartilage graft concerning resorption process that affected the size, form, and aestheticsubunit of the ear is mandatory. Purpose: To evaluate the success of cartilage autograft by identifyingchondrocyte apoptosis, tissue degradation based on cell character, matrix homogeneity, fibrosis,proteoglycans, collagen and Transforming Growth Factor β (TGF β) expression in application of FibrinGlue (FG) and or Demineralized Bone Matrix (DBM) after 12 weeks in microtia reconstruction by Nagatatechnique. Methods: Quasi-experiments. FG and/or DBM were applied on the rest of the 12 ear cartilageframework which was implanted on mastoid area. Apoptosis was examined by TUNEL. Safranin Ostaining and modified Mankin’s score was used to evaluate cartilage degradation and TGF β expressionby ELISA. Results: FG or DBM on cartilage graft showed significant increase in chondrocyte viabilitycompare with control group (p=0.00). Minimal fibrosis, more homogeneous extracellular matrix, decreasedproteoglycan and minimal thickening of collagen, had significant differences compared with control orFG-DBM group. Structure differences occurred among cartilage graft after 12 week implantation whereasFG showed minimal fibrous tissue, normal cell character, proteoglycan, collagen, and tissue homogeneity(p< 0.05). Conclusion: FG is highly recommended to reduce degradation of cartilage graft in microtiareconstruction. DBM can be still used to maintain chondrocyte viability, proteoglycans, and collagen.

"Latar Belakang: Perbaikan jaringan periodontal pasca splinting dapat ditinjau secara klinis atau radiografis. Evaluasi penyembuhan pada jaringan keras pada penelitian ini dianalisis dengan radiografis periapikal digital. Splinting periodontal adalah terapi pendukung perawatan periodontal untuk melindungi jaringan selama repair dan regenerasi pada terapi periodontal.
Tujuan: Analisis kehilangan dan kepadatan tulang alveolar serta keutuhan lamina dura setelah tiga bulan splinting pada gigi anterior mandibula dengan diagnosis periodontitis kronis dan kriteria kehilangan tulang alveolar 2/3 serviks secara radiografis digital.
Metode: Delapan puluh empat sisi sampel proksimal (mesial dan distal) dilakukan pengambilan radiografi periapikal digital dan di evaluasi perubahan keadaan tulang alveolarnya setelah di splinting (hari ke 1 dan 91).
Hasil: Hasil analisis statistika pada evaluasi setelah tiga bulan splinting untuk perubahan kehilangan-kepadatan tulang alveolar dan keutuhan lamina dura adalah 0,44; 0,256 dan 0,059 (p<0,05).
Kesimpulan: Tidak terdapat perubahan kehilangan dan kepadatan tulang alveolar serta keutuhan lamina dura pasca tiga bulan splinting pada gigi anterior mandibula dengan periodontitis kronis yang kehilangan tulangnya sampai 2/3 serviks.

Background: The healing of periodontal splinting can be detected both with clinical and radiographic examination. In this study, the alveolar bone was evaluated by radiographic digital periapical analysis. Periodontal tooth splinting is periodontal support theraphy used to prevent periodontal injury during repair and regeneration of periodontal theraphy.
Objective: Radiographic digital periapical analysis of alveolar bone in the mandibular anterior region with chronic periodontitis and 2/3 cervical bone loss after three months periodontal splinting.
Methods: Eighty four proximal site (43 mesial and 41 distal) from 16 patients were examined by taking periapical digital radiographic and the bone loss, bone density and utility of lamina dura were detected after splinting (day 1 and 91).
Results: The statistical analysis after three months evaluation using T-test for bone loss, Wilcoxon sign rank test for bone density and utility lamina dura showed no significantly differences(p<0,05)(p=0,44, 0,256 and 0,059).
Conclusion: No radiographic change in bone loss, bone density and utility of lamina dura from chronic periodontitis with 2/3 alveolar bone loss after three months splinting.

"ABSTRAK
Pendahuluan. Penggunaan autograft dalam fusi interkorpus tulang belakang
masih menjadi pilihan utama, tetapi jumlah yang terbatas dan morbiditas pada
tempat donor mendorong penggunaan substitusi tulang. Kombinasi HA dan DBM
menjadi pilihan utama selain autograft dalam fusi interkorpus, namun hasil yang ada menunjukan variasi diantara jenis DBM. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk
mengevaluasi luaran klinis dan radiologis fusi interkorpus lumbal menggunakan
kombinasi DBM dan HA.
Metode Penelitian. Penelitian ini merupakan prospektif cohort pada 35 pasien
yang terbagi atas 18 pasien kelompok autograft dan 17 pasien kelompok
kombinasi HA dan DBM. Pasien merupakan pasien spondilosis lumbal yang
diindikasikan untuk tindakan operatif. Evaluasi klinis pada masing-masing
kelompok pasca operasi menggunakan VAS, JOA dan ODI yang dinilai pada
bulan ke-3, 6 dan 12. Evaluasi radiologis pada masing-masing berupa fusi di
evaluasi dengan ct scan pada bulan ke-12. Karakteristik pasien seperti jenis
kelamin, usia, riwayat merokok, level operasi, dan BMI juga dievaluasi.
Temuan Penelitian. Dua orang ahli bedah orthopaedi tulang belakang melakukan operasi stabilisasi posterior dan TLIF. Terdapat 55 pasien (27 kelompok autograft, 28 kelompok kombinasi HA dan DBM) yang masuk ke dalam kriteria, 9 pasien dari masing-masing kelompok di eksklusi karena tidak dapat di follow up sampai 12 bulan. Perbandinagn skor VAS, JOA dan ODI diantara kedua kelompok tidak menunjukan perbedaan yang bermakna dengan nilai p masing-masing 0,599, 0,543 dan 0,780. Perbandingan fusi antara kelompok autograft dan kombinasi HA dan DBM menunjukan nilai p 1,000, sehingga tidak bermakna secara statistik.
Simpulan Hasil luaran klinis dan radiologis pada penggunaan kombinasi HA dan
DBM dalam fusi interkorpus tidak menunjukan inferioritas bila dibandingkan
dengan autograft. Kombinasi HA dan DBM dapat dipertimbangkan sebagai
alternatif bagi pasien spondilosis lumbal yang diindikasikan untuk tindakan
operatif.

ABSTRACT
Introduction The use of autograft still remains a gold standard in lumbar
interbody fusion surgery, but the limited amount and donor site morbidity
encourages the use of bone substitute. Combination of HA and DBM become a
main choice other than autograft in lumbar interbody fusion, however there were variable result between DBM product. These research was aimed to evaluate the clinical and radiological outcome of interbody fusion using combination of DBM and HA.
Methods A cohort prospective research was conducted in 35 patients that were divided into 18 autograft group patients and 17 combination of HA and DBM group patient. All the patients were diagnosed with lumbar spondylosis and indicated for surgery. Clinical evaluation on each group was evaluated using VAS, JOA and ODI on the 3rd, 6th and 12th month post operatively. Radiologic outcome of fusion was evaluated using ct scan on the 12th month. Other patient characteristic such as sex, age, smoking history, level operation dan BMI were also evaluated in this research.
Results Two orthopaedic spine surgeon conducted the posterior stabilization and TLIF procedure. There were 55 patients (27 autograft group patients, 28
combination of HA and DBM group patients) that was included according to the criteria, 9 patients on each group were excluded due to loss of follow up below 12 months. Comparison of VAS, JOA and ODI score between the two group did not show any difference that significant statiscally with the p value was 0.599, 0.543, and 0.780 each. Comparison of fusion rate between the two groups showed p value of 1.000 which was not significant statiscally.
Conclusions Clinical and radiological outcome of combination of HA and DBM
in lumbar interbody fusion did not show inferiority compared with autograft.
Combination of HA and DBM can be considered as an alternative in lumbar
spondylosis patient that need operative procedure"
