"Skripsi ini membahas mengenai peran Pemuda Sosialis Indonesia (Pesindo) pada masa Revolusi Kemerdekaan Indonesia (1945-1950). Pesindo merupakan salah satu organisasi pemuda terbesar pada tahun-tahun awal kemerdekaan Indonesia. Dalam perkembangannya, Pesindo kemudian akan berperan besar bagi Republik Indonesia dalam perjuangan bersenjata di dalam negeri ataupun perjuangan diplomatik di luar negeri. Hal ini ditandai dengan partisipasi Pesindo dalam pertempuran, berbagai konferensi internasional, serta kegiatan Pesindo yang bersifat sosial. Pesindo sendiri kemudian menemukan ajalnya setelah terlibat dalam Peristiwa Madiun 1948 dan berintegrasi ke dalam Partai Komunis Indonesia dengan nama Pemuda Rakyat.

This graduate's thesis discusses about the role of the Pemuda Sosialis Indonesia (Pesindo) in the Indonesian National Revolution (1945-1950). During the early years of Indonesian independence, Pesindo is one of the largest and the most wellorganized youth organization. During its development, Pesindo will play a major role in the Indonesian struggle for complete independence, whether it is by participating in combat in the country, participation in the various international conferences overseas, or by doing domestic social activities. Eventually, Pesindo will find its downfall after being implicated in the Madiun Incident of 1948. After Madiun, Pesindo integrates itself with the Communist Party of Indonesia as its youth wing, the Pemuda Rakyat."

"The history of the Indonesian Revolution has been dominated by depictions of grassroots fighters and elite politicians who thought of it as a nationalistic or class-based war. In this major new study, Kevin W. Fogg rethinks the Indonesian Revolution (1945–49) as an Islamic struggle, in which pious Muslims, who made up almost half the population, fought and organized in religious ways. Muslims fighting on the ground were convinced by their leaders' proclamations that they were fighting for a holy cause. In the political sphere, however, national leaders failed to write Islam into Indonesia's founding documents - but did create revolutionary precedents that continue to impact the country to this day. This study of a war of decolonization in the world's most populous Muslim country points to the ways in which Islam has functioned as a revolutionary ideology in the modern era."
