"A study and discussion of islamic classical and contemporary sciences get great attention from islamic universities and religious institutions in Indonesia. While in the Western world it began to learn a lot about the development of islamic studies with multidisciplinary approach, while in the muslim-majority country became aware of the fading and deterioration of spirit seeking knowledge so that they lost of critical reasoning scientifically. Some muslims support and maintain the old traditions that dwell on the text alone, so an understanding of islam is by using textualist approach, on the humanities and social philosophy, so that the patterns of both patterned is by using contextualist approach. However, the paradigm is used both still being stiff and tense mutually defending each ideology. The tensions second paradigm is not suitable in the development of contemporary islamic studies in crisis so that anomalies and science. "

"Seiring perkembangannya, tasawuf dikenal melahirkan istilah-istilah baru. Diantaranya adalah istilah syathaẖāt yang merupakan ungkapan ekstase yang lahir akibat goncangan spiritual di dalam diri seorang sufi. Ungkapan mengejutkan sufi ini menuai pro dan kontra dari para sufi sendiri. Diantaranya adalah Abu Nashr As-Sarraj At-Thusi dan Abu Hamid Al- Ghazali. Ungkapan para sufi ini telah dibahas oleh keduanya di dalam Al-Luma' dan Ihya Ulumiddin. Jenis penelitian yang penulis gunakan dalam tesis ini adalah penelitian pustaka (library research) yang bersifat deskriptif-analitik-kualitatif.
Ruang lingkup penelitian dibatasi pada syathaẖāt atau ungkapan ekstase sebagai objek penelitian serta pandangan kedua tokoh di atas sebagai unit analisis. Sedangkan metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan penelahaan bahan-bahan pustaka baik yang terdiri dari bahan-bahan yang bersifat primer maupun sekunder, dan metode analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan model analisis dari Miles dan Huberman, serta tahap-tahap penelitian dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode Bogdan, yaitu tahap pra lapangan, tahab kegiatan, dan tahap analisis data.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan pandangan antara keduanya yang dilatar belakangi perbedaan keadaan sosial dan kehidupan intelektual. Namun keduanya juga memiliki kesamaan tujuan, yakni berusaha menjelaskan hakikat tasawuf yang sesuai dengan ajaran syariat.

By the time, Sufism known by a lot of new terms. It's called syathaḫāt which means an ecstatic expression that overflows as a result of ecstatic power in sufi's hearts. This shocking expression takes a lot of views. It's Abu Nashr As-Sarraj At-Thusi and Abu Hamid Al-Ghazali views. This terms has been discused by both of them. The type of the research used by the writer is considered as library research, and then the research design of this study also regards as descriptive- analitics-qualitative.
The scope of this research is based on syathaḫāt as the object of the research, along with Abu Nashr As-Sarraj At-Thusi and Abu Hamid Al- Ghazali's views as analysis units. Afterward, the methods used to collect the data were done by doing library research that consists of primary and secondary data. Besides, the analysis methods of this research used Miles and Huberman analysis models. Moreover, the stages of this research use Bogdan Methods, which are pre-field, working level and analyzing phase.
The results of this research show the difference view of Abu Nashr As- Sarraj At-Thusi and Abu Hamid Al-Ghazali due to they differences in social and intelectual life. But both of them have a common goal, that's to explain the essence of Sufism in accordance with the teaching of sharia.

"ABSTRAK
Disertasi ini mengkaji teks Syattariyyah wa muhammadiyyah (disingkat SWM)
milik Muhammad Hilman, Rama Guru Syatariyah di Pengguron Kaprabonan
Cirebon. Penelitian terhadap SWM dilakukan dengan menggunakan teori filologi
dan tasawuf. SWM adalah salah satu teks penting yang dapat menjadi sumber
primer dan menjelaskan karakteristik keislaman di Cirebon. Pertanyaan utama
penelitian ini adalah bagaimana menyediakan sumber primer tentang Islam di
Cirebon yang terdapat dalam teks SWM. Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah
menyajikan edisi teks. Edisi teks SWM dibuat dengan menggunakan metode
edisi kritis. Isi teks SWM terdiri atas Tarekat Syatariyah dan Muhammadiyah.
Dalam teks SWM terdapat lima ciri karakter Tarekat Syatariyah Cirebon yang
khas, yaitu aksara, ilustrasi, silsilah, ajaran, dan jaringan Tarekat Syatariyah di
Cirebon yang berbeda dengan Tarekat Syatariyah yang lain. Kajian isi
selanjutnya membahas karakteristik Tarekat Syatariyah dan Muhammadiyah.
Hasil temuan penelitian ini; pertama, silsilah tarekat Syatariyah di Cirebon dari
teks SWM tidak berasal dari Syaikh Abdul Muhyi atau Abdurrauf as-Sinkili,
tetapi melalui Syaikh Abdullah bin Abdul Qahhar; kedua, Tarekat
Muhammadiyah adalah nur Muhammadiyah. Cara untuk memperoleh nur
Muhammad melalui martabat tujuh; ah}adiyah, wah}dah, wa>h}idiyah, ?alam arwa>h},
?alam ajsa>m, ?alam mis\a>l, dan insa>n ka>mil.

ABSTRACT
The dissertation analyzes the text of Syat}t}a>riyyahwa Muh}ammadiyyah
(abbreviated as SWM) using philological theory and sufism perspective. This
text belongs to Muhammad Hilman, the sufi leader of Tarekat Syattariyah in
PengguronKaprabonan Cirebon. Because SWM is one of the most important
primary texts in explaining the characteristics of Islam in the region, what being
investigated in the text is how to provide primary source of Cirebon?s Islam.
Thus, it is mainly aimed to provide text edition using critical edition method. In
addition, it is also aimed to analyze the characteristics? of the two tarekats, as
SWM intensively discussed Syatariyah and Muhammadiyyah. At least five
characteristics of Cirebon?s Syatariyah were apparent, namely writing system,
illustration, teachings, its particular networking and genealogy. Its genealogy is
distinct in the sense that it does not originate from Syaikh Abdul Muhyi or
Abdurrauf as-Sinkili, but instead it is from Syaikh Abdullah bin Abdul Qahhar.
As for Muhammadiyah, it is NurMuhammadiyah which is obtained through
seven martabat, namely ah}adiyah, wa>h}idiyah, wah}dah, ?alamarwa>h}, ?alamajsa>m,
?alammis\a>l, and insa>n ka>mil"

"One of the fulcrums of change in political Islam is the relationship between traditional patterns of Islamic politics, which focus upon the pursuit and wielding of formal power, particularly with the aim of enacting of shari’a law, and the more recent emergence of dynamic social spheres of Islamic activism, which emphasise values and moral order and operate with considerable autonomy from Islamic parties. This article explores the nature of the interactions between political and social activism and identifies the ways in which more established form of political Islam are changing as a result of pressure from the social realm. It compares case studies from the Middle East and Southeast Asia, paying particular attention to Muslim Brotherhood and Salafist expressions of social and political activism in both regions. It argues that burgeoning pietistic social activism presents both challenges and opportunities to Islamic political actors, and that failure to engage with these new forces will lead to further marginalisation and the risk of declining relevance."

"The philosopher and critic George Henry Lewes (1817–78) published this work in two volumes in 1845–6. This is a reissue of an 1892 printing, which brought the volumes into one book. Lewes wrote widely on literature, science and philosophy, and was also the long-term intimate companion of George Eliot. This book is a narrative history, rather than an encyclopedia, of key philosophers. It is, therefore, a partial and personal study instead of an exhaustive textbook. The first volume concentrates solely on Greek philosophy, beginning with the Pre-Socratics and ending with the Neo-Platonists. The second volume jumps to Francis Bacon, concentrating on British, German and French philosophy, and addressing, among others, Spinoza, Locke, Hume and Kant, and ending with Auguste Comte.
