"Central to this thesis is the characterisation and exploitation of electromagnetic properties of light in imaging and measurement systems. To this end an information theoretic approach is used to formulate a hitherto lacking, quantitative definition of polarisation resolution, and to establish fundamental precision limits in electromagnetic systems. Furthermore rigorous modelling tools are developed for propagation of arbitrary electromagnetic fields, including for example stochastic fields exhibiting properties such as partial polarisation, through high numerical aperture optics. Finally these ideas are applied to the development, characterisation and optimisation of a number of topical optical systems, polarisation imaging, multiplexed optical data storage, and single molecule measurements. The work has implications for all optical imaging systems where polarisation of light is of concern."

"Fiber Optic Ring Resonator dapat digunakan sebagai sebuah sensor optik. Hal tersebut dilakukan dengan memanipulasi variabel – variabel yang mempengaruhi output persamaannya, yaitu panjang fiber L, intensitas rugi fraksional coupler γ!, koefisien coupling κ dan atenuasi amplitudo fiber α!. Variabel – variabel tersebut mempengaruhi parameter output berupa: FSR (Free Spectrum Range), FWHM (Full Width Half Maximum) dan F (Finesse). Dengan memanipulasi parameter output dari FORR, maka pengguna dapat menggunakannya sesuai kebutuhan sensor optik yang dibutuhkan.

One of the most common application of Fiber Optic Ring Resonator is as an optical sensor. Manipulating variables in the equation to measure the energy from the FORR, which are fiber’s length L, fractional loss coupler intensity γ! , coupling coefficient κ and fiber’s amplitude attenuation α!, which affect its output parameters. Those output parameters are Free Spectrum Range FSR, Full Width Half Maximum FWHM and Finesse F. By manipulating the output parameters manipulated, the users will be able to apply as an optical sensors based on their own requirements.

"Tujuan: Membandingkan rerata dan proporsi ≤ 1 D dari prediktabilitas refraksi biometri imersi terhadap biometri optikal pasca fakoemulsifikasi pada pasien katarak dengan miopia tinggi ( Spherical equivalent [SE] lebih besar atau sama dengan -6 atau AXl ≥ 25 mm) tanpa stafiloma posterior di RSCM Kirana.
Desain: Uji eksperimental tidak tersamar dua kelompok tidak berpasangan yang mendapat perlakuan biometri imersi dan optikal.
Metode: 21 mata dari 15 subyek yang dilakukan pemeriksaan biometri imersi dan optikal pada mata yang sama sebelum dilakukan operasi fakoemulsifikasi dengan implantasi lensa intraokular (LIO) posterior chamber. Target refraksi yang ditentukan adalah -0,5 D, dan power LIO yang diimplantasikan berasal dari pengukuran biometri imersi. Formula yang digunakan adalah SRK/T. Prediktabilitas refraksi dihitung berdasarkan selisih antara SE pasca operasi dengan target refraksi dalam nilai absolut pada minggu ke-3 pasca operasi.
Hasil: Tidak terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna pada rerata prediktabilitas refraksi (0,375 D ; 0,440 D, p=0,942), proporsi ≤ 1 D (80,95% ; 80,95%, p=1,000), dan pada semua variabel biometri.
Kesimpulan: Dengan formula SRK/T, biometri imersi dan optikal menghasilkan keakuratan prediktabilitas refraksi yang setara pada pasien katarak dengan miopia tinggi tanpa stafiloma posterior.

Objectives: To compare the mean and proportion ≤ 1 D of refractive predictability of immersion and optical biometry post phacoemulsification in cataract with highly myopic eyes (spherical equivalent [SE] of -6 D or higher, or axial length ≥ 25 mm) without posterior staphyloma.
Methods: This was an experimental non blinding study of the two unpaired groups. 21 eyes from 15 subjects had a measurements of immersion and optical biometry on the same eye. The intended refraction target was -0,5 D and based on immersion biometry. SRK/T formula was used in all groups. Refractive predictability was defined as a difference between post operative SE and the intended refraction target in an absolute value in 3 weeks post operatively.
Results: There were no statistically significant difference in the mean of refractive predictability (0,375 D ; 0,440 D, p=0,942) and proportion in a range of ≤ 1 D (80,95% ; 80,95%, p=1,000) nor in all biometry variable between the study groups.
Conclusion: Immersion and optical biometry with SRK/T formula produce a similar accuracy of refractive predictability in cataract with highly myopic eyes without posterior staphyloma.

The deployment of fiber optic networks is currently undergoing rapid growth in almost all regions of Indonesia, especially in the city of Depok. Infrastructure modernization continues to be carried out by telecommunications operators and providers. to support all digital applications with Fiber Optic transmission media. The huge potential in Depok with various fields has become very attractive for investment and deploying telecommunications networks including. Poor environmental impacted by excavation, low aesthetics with many poles, long deployment time and high costs are the main problems. The use of Blown Fiber is expected to be the best solution with Burial, Aerial and Combination methods that can complement each other. Benefits Analysis Cost Ratio Analysis, Sensitivity of Investment Cost Functions and Recommendations for the Ideal Performance Factor with Environmental, Cost Benefit, Trend and Technology Novelty parameters are the research topics. The feasibility of 3 deployment methods, blown fiber as the main deployment solution and the potential for ducting that has not been optimized."
