"War, poverty, and famine; political, social, and economic change; and the deep seated views and rituals rooted in a culture's history and traditions all contribute to the widespread and growing trafficking of women and children. The multilayered complexity, myriad contributing factors, enormous amount of money involved, and sheer magnitude of the problem render it impossible to solve with the fractured and isolated measures of individual organizations and countries. Only complete cooperation and collaboration at all levels can establish the most proactive and self-sustaining approach to reduce this global crime. Gathering knowledge and experience from more than 40 countries, this book clearly demonstrates the scale and spread of the problem, providing a powerful analysis of the circumstances that contribute to the abuse and victimization of women and children as well as the international policies and strategies used to combat this crime. Divided into two parts, it begins with an introduction to the definition, nature, and scope of human trafficking. It discusses several social theories as well as evident environmental influences. It also examines measures to control and prevent human trafficking from stricter laws and monetary aid, to global community and law enforcement collaboration. Part 2 consists of case studies, drawing examples from a range of countries involved in every stage in the process, and highlighting the unique characteristics of human trafficking in each. Chapters include the prevalence of child pornography in Japan, child abduction in China, bonded child labor in India, and child soldiering in Congo (Zaire) and other African countries. The final chapters discuss law enforcement in the US and UK, community policing in Australia, and the cooperative national plan in place in Croatia. "

"This book describes the concept of child victimization in all its facets. This volume researches and documents some of the ways in which young people throughout the world are victimized, and suggests strategies for preventing various forms of child vistimization. Eight distinct forms of victimization are identified and analyzed in detail. Included are discussions on child prostitution and pornography, economic exploitation through child labor and trafficking, physical and other abuse inflicted on young people in schools and other institutions, the use of children as armed combatants, and the denial of the basic needs and rights of children to such things as home and to education. In each chapter the authors discuss the nature of the victimization, its global dimensions and prevalence, and the measures governments and/or others are taking, or failing to take, to combat the harm based on the concept that youth victimization is a form of government crime."

"ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT
Human trafficking is a cross border crime considered as a transnational organized crime. The majority victims of human trafficking are women and underaged children for sexual exploitation. In this case, South Asia has the second highest rate practice of women and children trafficking. The increasing number of women and children trafficking cases through years in India subsequently raises the awareness of the South Assian Association of Regional Cooperation SAARC to resolve the case by establishing the Convention of Preventing and Combatting Women and Children for Prostitution established in 2002. The number of women and children trafficking cases decreased for 9 since the establishment. This research aims to analyse SAARC rsquo s advocacy towards the Government of India to formulate the clause and the policy of Convention on Preventing and Combatting Trafficking in Children for Prostitution in India using the Policy Cycle Theory in viewing of policy making, and the concept of Transnational Advocacy Network in viewing strategic plans by SAARC in advocating the Government of India. In order to do the purpose, SAARC undertakes four forms of advocacy strategy that are information politics, symbolic politics, leverage politics, and accountability politics. "
