"Drug efficacy, safety, and biologics discovery : emerging technologies and tools covers key emerging technologies in pharmaceutical R & D and how they have substantially impacted (or are currently impacting) drug discovery. The cross-disciplinary collaborations implicit in integrating these technologies with drug discovery operations will fuel the engine for future innovations. This book cuts across the multiple areas of drug discovery, each chapter authored by pioneers in that field, making for a broad appeal to the chemical and biological scientists and technologists involved in drug discovery and development."

"Successful delivery of biopharmaceuticals is a major challenge because their molecular properties lead to poor physical and chemical stability in the body and limited membrane permeability. Delivery technologies for biopharmaceuticals is the first single-volume reference to describe the strategies to overcome the main barriers for successful delivery of all major classes of biopharmaceuticals--peptides, proteins, nucleic acids, and vaccines. With extensive case studies showing how the science has been put into practice."

"Because pharmaceutical scientists lack information about biopharmaceutical product manufacture and commercialization, this book comprehensively covers fundamentals and essential pathways for each production phase; as well as the purpose, function, and relation to other stages in the product development process. It provides case histories related to therapeutic monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, and plasma fractions. And it offers the perspective and experience of production and manufacturing of the drugs, making this a vital for pharmaceutical, biotech, regulatory, and academic researchers and professionals"

Neem bark (Azadirachta indica A.Juss) and turmeric (Curcuma domestica Val.) extracts have been found posses gastroprotective effect so that they are used in the treatment of gastric ulcer. Administration of combination of both extracts can give synergistic effect so that the administration dose can be reduced. In this research, combination of neem bark and turmeric extracts were formulated as mucoadhesive granules to improve their effectivenesses by increasing the residence time of dosage form in the stomach. Mucoadhesive granules were prepared by wet granulation method in six formulas using HPMC, Carbopol, and combination of HPMC and Carbopol as mucoadhesive polymers. Granules were evaluated for particle size distribution, flow rate, moisture content, swelling, mucoadhesive strength with bioadhesive in vitro test and wash off test, and dissolution. Bioadhesive in vitro test showed that all formulas have good mucoadhesive strength. Wash off test showed that combination of HPMC and Carbopol can improve mucoadhesive strength of formulas. Mucoadhesive strength increased with the increasing of HPMC. The result of this research indicated that formula with combination of HPMC and Carbopol (2:1) showed best mucoadhesive strength with percentage of mucoadhesion 98.67% in bioadhesive in vitro test and 38.00% in wash off test."

"
Information is an important resource for new product development (NPD) process in subsidiary. However, we still lack of research to analyze NPD process from information perspective in subsidiary context. This research is an exploratory research and it exploited 8 cases of NPD process in consumer goods subsidiaries operating in Indonesian market. Three types of information have been identified and analyzed NPD process; global, regional and local information. The result of this research reveals that new product will be resulted is determined by the type of information used. This research reveals four new product typology using information types. The semi-structured interview and archive studies generate global, regional, integrated and local NPD process. Each process has its own characteristics such as type of information used and interaction pattern among subsidiary-regional office-headquarter."
