"Part of the Pediatric Practice series, Pediatric Practice: Ophthalmology is filled with practical, clinically relevant guidance on the successful diagnosis and management of children with ophthalmic symptoms and diseases. The care of the patient forms the core of this book, which also provides perspectives on epidemiology, pathophysiology, and diagnosis that every pediatrician, pediatric resident, and nurse should be familiar with. Over 600 full-color clinical images and illustrations highlight the techniques, diseases, and disorders discussed throughout the book. The book is logically divided into three parts: the first section describes the examination techniques, instruments, and ancillary tests used for evaluation of pediatric eye disorders. The second section on symptoms provides a straightforward how-to approach based on specific clinical presentations allowing pediatricians to quickly evaluate and accurately diagnose a patient in the office. The third section on diseases follows the style of traditional medical textbooks, offering greater detail on treatment of disease while maintaining the book?s easy-to-absorb presentation."

Background: Pediatric airway emergency might cause a catastrophic event if the responders do not understand well how to handle the case. Neonates- children study of anaesthesia practice in Europe reported 5.8% cases of difficult intubation in neonates and babies, where two thirds of the cases serve as an unpredicted case. A well developed airway team might be the anwer to those problem because they are trained and obligated to have the skills and knowlegde before managing the case
Objectives: To assess the effectivity of a well developed simulation based longitudinal curriculum method to increase knowlegdge and practical skills especially interprofessional interaction in managing pediatric difficult airway cases
Materials and Methods: Twenty-four residents from otolaringology, pediatrics, and anesthesiology participated in four modules and two simulation-based training session using task trainers, and crisis scenarios using high fidelity manikin. Scenarios were based on various clinical settings and were followed by video-assisted structured debriefings. Individual cognitive and skill assessment, and non-technical skills during team simulation were assessed using validated checklist then analyzed statistically
Result: Overall, there is statistically significant improvement between the pre-test and post-test knowledge for all airway module (p<0.05 for all). Non-technicall skills during repeated team simulation with high fidelity manikin also show significant improvement with p-value 0.028. As for personal intubation skills, the result shows score reduction three months after the first traning.
Conclusion: A longitudinal simulation-based medical curriculum can be an effective method to teach airway management and non-technical skills to otolaryngology, pediatrics, and anesthesiology residents.
