"This book provides a comprehensive summary of state-of-the-art methods for empirical modeling of forest trees and stands. It opens by describing methods for quantifying individual trees, progresses to a thorough coverage of whole-stand, size-class and individual-tree approaches for modeling forest stand dynamics, growth and yield, moves on to methods for incorporating response to silvicultural treatments and wood quality characteristics in forest growth and yield models, and concludes with a discussion on evaluating and implementing growth and yield models."

Urban activities are inseparable from the demand for fossil fuel use, particularly in the transportation sector that continues to increase along with the population growth. Carbon dioxide emissions are produced by the sector of transportation, industry, and households regardless of the limited open space in urban areas at the same time will cause carbon regulation in DKI Jakarta to be disrupted and impact the greenhouse effect. This study aims to determine the economic valuation of carbon dioxide on tree stands vegetation by its carbon dioxide uptake and to analyze the sequestration ability of Fabaceae tree stands compared with the other families in Srengseng City Forest, West Jakarta. Result shows that the total economic value of carbon owned by the urban forests’ tree stands was US$ 5.407,57 or Rp.77.760.804/tonne CO2-e from its 1.502,10 tonnes/ha carbon sequestration or 16.523,12 tonnes. It is also proven that the Fabaceae family has the most prominent carbon economic valuation in urban forests with average price of US$ 138.72 or Rp.1,994,847/tonne CO2-e from carbon dioxide absorption of 38.53 tonnes/ha."

Estimation of carbon stocks at stake stands vegetation has been conducted in 2017 in three Universitas Indonesia UI Urban Forest zones, East Wallace zone, West Wallace zone, and Natural Vegetation zone. The study aims to estimate the current amount of carbon reserves in 2017 contained in stake stands vegetation in UI Urban Forest and estimate plant species on stake stands that have the highest carbon stock potential in UI Urban Forest. The study was conducted by non destructive methods using allometric equations based on calculating stake stands diameter at breast height. The study used plot sized 5 m x 5 m as much as 75 and spread over the three zones, each zones have 25 plot. The results shows that the potential of carbon stocks in UI Urban Forest is 23.02 ton ha. Zones with the highest potential for above ground carbon stocks at stake stands is in the Natural Vegetation zone with a carbon stocks of 8,67 ton ha. The potential for above ground carbon stocks at stake stands in East Wallace zone is 8,02 ton ha and Western Wallace zone is 6,30 ton ha. The species with the highest average carbon stock potential, namely Merbau Intsia bijuga of 0,296 ton ha. "

"Forest fire is a massive threat towards tropical forest causing various negative impacts to nature and human being. Forest fire often leads to alteration of forest structure and its functions. This study of tree growth after forest fire was conducted using a model simulation. The model was performed at the individual level of plant community and built to analyze the potential of tree growth and its scenario for post-fire recovery. Five important tree species from montane forest of Mount Ciremai were chosen to build the model based on four main parameters i.e. plant growth rate, diameter at breast height (DBH), tree-to-grass competition and tree-to-tree competition. The scenario of post-fire recovery was performed by replanting similar species with 5 cm DBH seedling. Prediction from our model showed that most of the chosen species would recover to its pre-fire condition after 37 - 50 years. Considering the limitation of competition after re-planting, it was suggested to minimize tree to tree competition and applied silvicultural treatments to maximize tree growth and tree community recovery."
