ABSTRACT
This article discusses the depiction of Mother domination and the lawsuit contained in J`ai Tué Ma Mère by Xavier Dolan through the narrative and cinematographic aspects of the film. The analysis made is supported by the concept of power by Michel Foucault to see the form of dominance of the mother figure that occurs in the film. Power is the cornerstone of the formation of dominance that gives rise to repression against others, including within the family. The results of the analysis through the narrative and cinematographic aspects of the film show that the dominance is formed due to communication failure that exists between forces and causes the formation of resistance by dominated figures, in this case is figure of a son. The very great power and dominance of mother figure in the life of the son causes problems and conflicts between them, thus causing distance in the relationship between mother and child. Resistance by dominated figure aims to sue power over domination that he recieves . The dominance is also reinforced by matriarchal cultural factors within the culture of the Qu ? bec community which is the setting in the film J`ai Tué Ma Mère"

Film Prayers for Bobby (2009) mengangkat permasalahan mengenai homoseksualitas dan proses
pengakuan diri.
kondisi psikologisnya.
ABSTRACT Prayers for Bobby (2009) raises the issue of homosexuality and the coming out process. Using film
analysis, the author analyzes how institutions affect the psychological condition of a homosexual
character during the process of coming out. There has not been a lot of research that see the relation
among institutions, such as family, religion, and society in repressing the identity formation of
homosexuals. This research uses Weeks? sexuality (1986) and Hill?s stages of coming out process
(2002) as the frameworks. The major findings show that the homosexual character in the film fails to
pass the stages of coming out process due to the repression by the institutions. This failure of coming
out has caused the main character to commit suicide, which in fact reflects his unstable psychological
condition., Prayers for Bobby (2009) raises the issue of homosexuality and the coming out process. Using film

Brave is a 2012 animated fantasy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios. The film presents a nuanced and complex portrayal of the first feminist female protagonist, Merida, going beyond surface-level narratives and challenges traditional gender norms. The study suggests that the methods in which Merida deals with such conflict can be applicable in illustrating societal shifts in women's roles today. This study aims to examine how Pixar represents female protagonists with feminist values through signs and symbolism in the animated film Brave (2012). The study employs a semiotic analysis approach, drawing on David Bordwell's film analysis methodologies and Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis framework. The analysis focuses on key scenes, character development, dialogue, and visual motifs to uncover the nuanced ways in which feminism is communicated through signs and symbolism. The results of the study reveal that Brave (2012) incorporated an array of symbols and signs that highlight feminist principles, including Merida's red hair, which represents a strong symbol of her autonomy, Merida's strength and agency are illustrated with archery as the key motive, challenging traditional concepts of femininity, and the dialogue and interactions between characters highlight feminist discourse by outlining the value of self-determination and the eradication of patriarchal expectations."

The term Indo refers to people born from marriages of natives and immigrants in the Dutch East Indies. One of the films that discusses the life of the Indos in the Dutch East Indies is Bumi Manusia. This film arrived in theaters in 2019 and is the work of a well-known director, Hanung Bramantyo. This study looks at how Indo people are portrayed in the film Bumi Manusia, specifically through the characters Annelies and Robert Mellema. This paper used the descriptive methods in the analysis, which were aided by Roland Barthes' semiotic theory and Stuart Hall's concept of cultural identity. This study reveals that there are differences in the depiction of the Indo in the film Bumi Manusia through the two characters. The difference in depiction is due to the two characters' desire for different identities. Annelies who want to be considered Natives tends to be well-behaved and does not divide humans based on race. On the other hand, Robert, who wanted to be considered a full-blooded Dutchman, acted rudely and arbitrarily toward natives."

ABSTRACT
Although since 1973 the status of homosexuality is no longer considered as insanity, the presence of homophobic society is still inevitable until now. This study, then, aims to see what was actually happening in queer worlds after gay rights movements. Applying Hall?s cultural identity and Butler?s performativity theories through the movie An Englishman in New York (2009), this paper shows that queer diaspora creates new identities for both the indigenous people and the immigrants. This piece also reveals that the reason why 1970s queers liked to show their gender identities with queer fashion was because of the pressure from homophobic society., Although since 1973 the status of homosexuality is no longer considered as insanity, the presence of homophobic society is still inevitable until now.
