"[ABSTRAK
Disertasi ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan dinamika yang berlangsung antara
agen dan struktur dalam masyarakat nelayan di Desa Teluk, Labuan-Banten. Dengan
menggunakan teori strukturasi Anthony Giddens dan dilengkapi dengan konsep
pembangunan sosial berdasarkan struktur, kultur, dan proses, dalam melihat
dinamika relasi yang ada antara agen dan stuktur dalam masyarakat nelayan.
Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan strategi
grounded research. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa di dalam masyarakat
nelayan telah terjadi perubahan dalam struktur dari dominasi kelembagaan formal
menjadi dominasi kelembagaan non-formal. Kemiskinan yang ada pada struktur
yang lama ternyata direproduksi oleh struktur yang baru. Penelitian ini juga
menemukan kelemahan dari strukturasi Giddens yang menganggap bahwa struktur
dalam versi dualitas-nya, baik sebagai hasil dan sekaligus sarana (medium) praktik
sosial ternyata tidak selalu bersifat enabling atau memberdayakan. Pembangunan
kelautan dan perikanan, khususnya menyangkut tentang bagaimana mengatasi
kemiskinan masyarakat nelayan harus melihat pentingnya dinamika relasi yang
terjadi antara agen dan struktur agar perubahan yang dilakukan oleh negara, dalam
hal ini Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan, tidak justru melahirkan kemiskinan
baru.

This dissertation aims to describe the dynamics that take place between the agent and
the structure of the fishing community in Teluk Village, Labuan, Banten. By using
structuration theory of Anthony Giddens and equipped with the concept of social
development based on the structure, culture, and processes, in view of the dynamics
of relationships that exist between agents and structures in the fishing communities.
The approach used in this study is a qualitative grounded research strategy. The
results of this study indicate that in the fishing community has been a change in the
structure of the formal institutional domination domination of non-formal
institutions. Poverty that exist on the old structures turned out to be reproduced by
the new structure. The study also found weaknesses of Giddens structuration which
assume that the structure in its duality version, either as a result and at the same time
means (medium) social practices were not always be enabling or empowering.
Development of marine and fisheries, particularly with regard to how to overcome
poverty of fishing communities must see the importance of the dynamics of
relationships that occur between agents and structures so that the changes made by
the state, in this case the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, did not actually
give birth to new poverty.

"Penelitian ini membahas tentang analisis semiotika Roland Barthes dalam video klip “Sekai No Owari - Sasanqua” sebagai representasi pesan inspiratif. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mengidentifikasi representasi pesan inspiratif dalam video klip “Sekai No Owari - Sasanqua” melalui analisis semiotika Roland Barthes. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan teori semiotika Roland Barthes untuk mengkaji denotatif, konotatif, dan mitos dalam video klip “Sekai No Owari - Sasanqua”. Video klip dibagi menjadi 15 potongan adegan sebagai data. Dari hasil analisis dapat disimpulkan bahwa dalam video klip “Sekai No Owari - Sasanqua” mengandung lima pesan inspiratif, yaitu “pantang menyerah” , “pentingnya saling bertukar pikiran”, “kesuksesan tidak dapat diraih secara instan”, “konsistensi”, dan “pentingnya dukungan dari orang lain”.

This study discusses the semiotic analysis of Roland Barthes in the video clip "Sekai No Owari - Sasanqua" as a representation of inspirational messages. This study aims to learn and to identify the representation of inspirational messages in the video clip "Sekai No Owari - Sasanqua" through Roland Barthes' semiotics. This research uses Roland Barthes' semiotic theory approach to examine denotative, connotative, and mythical meaning in the video clip "Sekai No Owari - Sasanqua". The video clip is divided into 15 scenes as the data. From the results of the analysis, it can be summarized that the video clip "Sekai No Owari - Sasanqua" contains five inspirational messages,"never give up", "the importance of exchanging ideas", "success cannot be achieved instantly", "consistency", and "the importance of support from others”."

Skripsi ini membahas tentang representasi perpustakaan umum sebagai wahana rekreasi anak di dalam novel Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode semiotik yang dikemukakan oleh Roland Barthes, yakni mencakup analisis sintagmatik terhadap alur dan pengaluran, serta analisis paradigmatik terhadap tokoh dan latar. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Perpustakaan Umum Alexandriaville merepresentasikan perpustakaan umum yang menjalankan fungsi rekreasi. Hal itu tampak dari berbagai jenis koleksinya, ruangannya yang berteknologi tinggi, pustakawannya yang cerdas, serta layanannya kreatif dan bernilai edukasi bagi anak. Novel, sebagai media populer, sangat berpotensi untuk mengubah cara pandang masyarakat terhadap perpustakaan umum.

"Agama Islam yang disebarkan dan diajarkan oleh Nabi Muhammad saw merupakan agama yang yang membawa kesejahteraan dan keselamatan seluruh umat sekalian alam. Egalitarianisme dan kesadaran hukum telah dipraktekkan oleh Nabi dalam misi kepemimpinannya untuk mengembangkan komunitas negara yang konstitusional. Kedamaian dan kesejahteraan umat adalah dasar utama yang diajarkan dalam Islam. Namun saat ini banyak kita jumpai berbagai macam propaganda guna memecah belah umat Islam, yang menyebabkan pertikaian antar agama, dan pelabelan terhadap Islam sebagai agama kekerasan melalui berbagai cara. Salah satunya ialah melalui film baik dalam skala nasional maupun international. Stigma Islam sebagai agama teroris yang semakin melekat pada setiap muslim, disebabkan karena pemberitaan media terutama film yang tidak proporsional. 'Phantom' adalah salah satu film yang dinilai menampilkan citra negatif terhadap Islam.Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, peneliti melakukan analisis guna mengetahui bagaimana Islam dan terorisme dimaknai dalam film ini.
Semiotika Roland Barthes digunakan sebagai pisau analisis melalui pemaknaan denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jihad dalam film Phantom digambarkan sebagai tindakan anarkis, yang menghalalakan segala cara untuk mendapatkan tujuan utamanya yaitu berdirinya Negara Islam. Sedangkan terorisme digambarkan sebagai sebuah gerakan terorganisir yang dilakukan oleh muslim. Jihad dan terorisme adalah dua hal yang sama, dan mempunyai tujuan akhir yang serupa, penggunaan kekerasan untuk mencapai tujuan politik. Diproduksinya film Phantom ini bertujuan untuk menggiring opini masyarakat India khususnya untuk mengerucutkan pelaku pada kasus pengeboman 9/11, dan untuk membuka mata seluruh penonton dibelahan dunia manapun mengenai kekejaman Islam yang dibalut dengan nama jihad.

Islam had been taught and spread widely by The Prophet Muhammad SAW. It is a religion which brings prosperity and peace to all people in this world. Egalitarianism and legal awareness has been used by the Prophet to develop a constitutional community state. Peacefulness and social welfare is the main basis in Islam. However, there are various kinds of propaganda which divided Muslims. It has been leading controversy between religions and labeling on Islam as a violence religion over any methods. One of them is coming from movie industry, nationally and internationally. Stigma of Islam as a terrorist religion attached to every Muslim, caused by the media, especially from disproportionately movies. Phantom is one of the movies which considered showing a negative image of Islam. Using a qualitative approach, the researcher conducted an analysis to determine how was Islam and terrorism interpreted in this film.
Semiotics Roland Barthes used as an analysis method to know the meaning of denotation, connotation, and myth.The results of the research showed that jihad in Phantom described as anarchy action, which justifies anything to get its main purpose, to establish Islamic State. While terrorism described as an organized movement carried out by Muslims. In this movie, Jihad and terrorism is the same things and have the same purpose, using force to achieve political goals. Phantom movie produced to lead Indian public opinion on 9 11 bombing incident, and to open people's perspective about the Islamic cruelty wrapped with the name of jihad.

"Penelitian ini membahas lirik lagu Over De Muur karya Klein Orkest yang dirilis pada tahun 1984. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan keadaan Jerman Barat dan Jerman Timur pada tahun 1984 melalui interpretasi makna dari tanda yang terdapat pada lirik lagu Over De Muur. Interpretasi makna dibedah menggunakan mitologi oleh Roland Barthes. Pertama-tama dilakukan pemilihan kata, frasa, atau kalimat yang berlaku sebagai tanda yang dapat menggambarkan keadaan Jerman Barat dan Jerman Timur pada saat itu. Lalu analisis dilanjutkan dengan menggunakan proses semiosis dua tahap; yang pertama adalah analisis primer yang terdiri dari analisis makna denotatif lalu pada tahap kedua menjabarkan makna konotatif yang
terdapat di lirik lagu Over De Muur untuk mengidentifikasi mitos yang terdapat dalam lagu tersebut. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa tanda di lirik lagu Over De Muur menggambarkan Jerman Barat dan Jerman Timur memiliki ideologi yang berbeda, tanda tersebut menunjukkan
bahwa Jerman Barat negara yang berideologi kapitalis-liberal, sedangkan Jerman Timur berideologi sosialis-komunis.

This study discusses the lyrics of the song Over De Muur by Klein Orkest which was released in 1984. The purpose of this study is to discuss the situation of West Germany and East Germany in 1984 through the interpretation of the meaning of the signs contained in the Over De Muur song lyrics. The theory used in this research is the theory of myth by Roland Barthes. First, a selection of words, phrases or sentences is needed as a sign that reflected the state of West Germany and East Germany at that time. Then the analysis continued using the two steps semiosis process; The first is a primary analysis consisting of an analysis of denotative meanings and then in the secondary analysis consists of connotative meanings analysis to identify the myths that contained in the lyrics of Over De Muur . The results show that the song Over De Muur portrays that West Germany and East Germany have different ideologies, West Germany with capitalist-liberal ideology and East Germany with socialist-communist ideology."

"Penelitian ini membahas tentang analisis semiotik meme tanpa konteks pada akun Twitter No context Russia dengan menggunakan teori semiotik oleh Roland Barthes. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi makna yang terkandung dalam unggahan meme pada akun Twitter Russia_NC. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk mencapai tujuan penelitian. Penulis menganalisis sepuluh buah data berupa meme dari twit pada akun Russia_NC. Pengambilan sumber data dilakukan dengan dokumentasi unggahan berupa gambar pada akun Twitter Russia_NC dan studi pustaka. Dari hasil analisis, penulis menemukan makna denotasi dan konotasi yang terkandung dalam unggahan meme pada akun Twitter No context Russia. Dengan demikian, penulis berharap penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi bagi pengembangan studi semiotik dan secara khusus menambah informasi tambahan terkait meme Rusia.

This study discusses the semiotic analysis of memes without context on the No context Russia Twitter account by using the semiotic theory by Roland Barthes. This study aims to identify the meaning contained in postings of memes on the Russia_NC Twitter account. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method to achieve the research objectives. The author analyzes ten pieces of data in the form of memes from tweets on the Russia_NC account. Data source retrieval was carried out by documentation of postings in the form of images on the Russia_NC Twitter account and literature studies. From the results of the analysis, the author has found the meaning of denotation and connotation contained in postings of memes on the Twitter account No context Russia. Thus, the author hopes that this research contributes to the development of semiotic studies and especially adds additional information related to Russian memes."

"Ardah Najdiyah merupakan tarian perang tradisional yang sangat populer di Jazirah Arab. Tarian tersebut tidak hanya menjadi warisan budaya semata namun juga untuk mengenang sejarah pertempuran yang dipimpin oleh Raja Abdul Aziz al-Saud dalam menyatukan wilayah di Arab Saudi. Tarian tersebut memiliki tujuan untuk menunjukkan kekuatan dan keberanian para prajurit di medan perang. Ardah Najdiyah masuk ke dalam Daftar Representative UNESCO sebagai Warisan Budaya Tak Benda Kemanusiaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan studi pustaka yang didapatkan dari buku, jurnal, situs dan analisis video yang berkaitan dengan tari Ardah Najdiyah. Dalam mewujudkan penelitian tersebut, peneliti menggunakan dua teori yaitu unsur gerakan tari dan semiotika Charles Sanders Peirce. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan studi pustaka yang didapatkan dari buku, jurnal, situs resmi, dan analisis video yang berkaitan dengan Ardah Najdiyah. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Ardah Najdiyah merupakan tarian yang memiliki makna penting terkait sejarah berdirinya Arab Saudi dan pelestarian tradisi suku nomaden Badui. Ardah Najdiyah menunjukkan identitas dan kekuatan masyarakat Arab Saudi dalam berperang yang menjadi bagian penting dalam kehidupannya.

Ardah Najdiyah is a traditional dance that is very popular in the Arabian Peninsula. Ardah Najdiyah is not only a cultural heritage but a symbol of the strength and courage of the soldiers on the battlefield and commemorates the history of the battle led by King Abdul Aziz al-Saud in uniting the region in Saudi Arabia. This study discusses the semiotic elements and themes contained in the Ardah Najdiyah dance performance. In realizing this research, the researcher uses two theories, namely elements of dance movement and the semiotics of Charles Sanders Peirce. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with a literature study approach obtained from books, journals, websites and video analysis related to the Ardah Najdiyah dance. The results of this study indicate that Ardah Najdiyah is a dance that has an important meaning related to the history of the founding of Saudi Arabia and the traditions of the nomadic Bedouin tribe. Ardah Najdiyah shows the identity and strength of the people of Saudi Arabia in war which is an important part of her life.

"Tesis ini membahas permasalahan bahasa dalam sistem patriarki. Menurut saya, bahasa merupakan persoalan mendasar yang memisahkan proses pembentukan identitas pada perempuan dan laki-laki. Perbedaan penggunaan bahasa dalam ruang publik telah menyulitkan perempuan untuk terlibat penuh dalam kegiatan masyarakat. Untuk membuktikan perbedaan ini, saya mengambil dua contoh bahasa yang berbeda dalam mantra dan ayat kitab suci. Saya menemukan bahwa dalam bahasa mantra, identitas feminin memberikan kebebasan pada pembentukan identitas perempuan. Identitas feminin didorong oleh kedinamisan semiotik matemal yang kuat sehingga menciptakan identitas perempuan yang berdaya. Sementara itu, dalam bahasa ayat, saya menemukan kekakuan bahasa simbolik yang diskriminatii Saya beranggapan bahwa perjuangan perempuan adalah melalui pencarian dasar epistemologi bahasa yang khas untuk keluar dari tataran simbolik patriarkal. Perempuan harus bexjuang pada mang semiotik matemal agar mampu mengolah ahora feminjn dan menciptakan bahasanya sendiri. Pembongkaran makna melalui teori feminisme Julia Kristeva akan menghasilkan sebuah pemahaman baru tentang identitas perempuan. Layaknya pennainan mantra, perempuan akan mampu menciptakan sebuah bahasa baru yang mengekspresikan abjeksi dirinya sehingga dogmatisasi ayat simbolik yang mengintemalisasi diri sejak fase: inisiasi simbolik dapat direduksi. Dengan demikian, revolusi pembebasan perempuan akan tercipta lewat penciptaan mantra khas dirinya
The thesis examines the language concern which exists inside the patriarchal system. In my opinion, language has become a fundamental aspect that segregates the identity creation process of male and female world. The different language usage applied in general public restricts female to get fully involve in daily life activities, that makes females feel themselves uncomfortable living in the society. I have taken two distinctive examples of language usage applied in pagan spell in contrast to the one used in the bible verses in order to obtain a proof of difference usage that might exist. I found that inside the pagan spell, feminine identity gives a freedom to create women identity. This situation is made possible by the strong dynamicity of maternal semiotic that creates a powerful women identity. On the other hand, inside the bible verses, I found a stiffness form of symbolic language in it, which produces a discriminative language. Women have to tight it through a 'maternal semiotic room' to establish a feminine chora and construct their very own language. Dismantling the meanings, refers to feminism theory of Julia Kristeva, will yield a new understanding toward women identity. Like interlacing the play of spell, actually women are capable to create a new language which expresses their abjection. Thus, process of dogmatisms of symbolic verses which induce women?s intemalization that has occurred since the time of symbolic initiation phase, can be reduced. As a result, thc revolution to liberate woman will be created through her very own spell creation."

"Skripsi ini membahas representasi perpustakaan dan profesi pustakawan dalam empat buah iklan televisi yang mempromosikan berbagai produk, yaitu Pampers Disposable Diapers, Scope Mouthwash, Kellogg?s Pop-Tarts, dan Mercedes-Benz E-Klasse. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode semiotik yang merujuk pada denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos dari Roland Barthes untuk mengumpulkan data. Hasil temuan dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa iklan memiliki fungsi persuasif. Penelitian dengan metode serupa dapat memperluas dan mengembangkan ilmu perpustakaan dalam lingkup yang lebih luas dan populis.

This reasearch is a qualitative research with semiotic method and Roland Barthes? denotation, connotation, and myth to gather data. Result of this research show that advertisement has a purpose to persuade people, and how necessary to increase the study about mass media which contain of library and librarian representation in it."

"Skripsi ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif tentang makna-makna yang terkandung dalam karya seni jalanan berbahasa Arab yang terdapat pada masa Arab Spring tahun 2011-2013 di tiga negara Arab, yaitu Tunisia, Mesir, dan Libya. Dalam mengungkapkan makna-makna tersebut secara terstruktur dan konstruktif, penulis menggunakan analisis semantik dan analisis semiotik. Fokus analisis semantik dalam skripsi terletak pada penentuan jenis makna yang terdapat pada ungkapan tertulis dalam bahasa Arab yang terdapat pada karya seni jalanan yang diteliti berdasarkan teori jenis makna Leech (1974) dan penentuan relasi makna, antara homonimi dan polisemi, yang muncul pada ungkapan-ungkapan tertulis tersebut berdasarkan teori relasi makna Chaer (2009) dan Taufiqurrahman (2008), sedangkan fokus analisis semiotik ialah mengungkapkan makna pada tanda melalui proses semiosis berdasarkan teori semiotik trikotomis-pragmatis Peirce. Hasil dari analisis semantik pada tiga karya seni jalanan yang dipilih menunjukkan hasil bahwa pada ketiga karya tersebut terdapat ungkapan tertulis yang memiliki makna konseptual, stilistika dan konotatif serta memiliki relasi makna polisemi, sedangkan analisis semiotik menunjukkan bahwa tanda-tanda yang terdapat pada ketiga karya tersebut digolongkan seb.

This undergraduate thesis is a qualitative study of meanings contained in Arabic street artworks found during the Arab Spring in three Arab countries, namely Tunisia, Egypt, and Libya. To revealing these meanings in structured and constructively way, the author uses semantic analysis and semiotic analysis. The focus of the semantic analysis lies on determining types of meaning which are contained in Arabic written phrase in the street artworks based on types of meaning theory by Leech (1974) and determining meaning relation, between homonymy and polysemy, which contained in the Arabic written phrase based on meaning relation theory by Chaer (2009) and Taufiqurrahman (2008), while the focus of semiotic analysis is to reveal the meaning of the signs in the artworks through the process of semiosis based on Peirce’s triadic, pragmatic semiotic theory. The result of semantic analysis indicates that the written phrases of the three selected artworks have conceptual meaning, social meaning, and connotative meaning and also have polysemy meaning; while the semiotic analysis showed that the signs in the three works classified as symbol.
