"Kajian temuan dan muatan bangkai kapal karam hasil pengangkatan di situs arkeologi bawah air di perairan laut Jawa, Cirebon merupakan potensi awal untuk mendirikan sebuah museum arkeologi bawah air di Indonesia yang bertujuan memanfaatkan hasil budaya material yang dikembangkan dan dihadirkan kedalam tema museum tetap atau secara jangka panjang. Museum memiliki peran strategis sebagai ruang edukasi, komunikasi dan publikasi dari berbagai sumber ilmu pengetahuan yang dimiliki.Melalui hasil temuan budaya material situs bangkai kapal karam Nan Han Cargo di Cirebon kemudian dilakukan studi komparasi berbagai penerapan konsep pameran museum-museum arkeologi bawah air yang telah diterapkan berbagai negara, salah satunya Southeast Asia Experiental Maritime Museum di Singapura. Melalui hasil komparasi tersebut kemudian dapat diperoleh desain dan program tema museum untuk diterapkan dalam konsep museum arkeologi bawah air Indonesia dalam sudut pandang New Museology.

The study of the findings and ladings of shipwreck at underwater archaeological site in the Waters of Java, Cirebon is the early potential to create an underwater archaeological museum in Indonesia. The museum aims to utilize material culture which is developed and presented in long term themes at the museum. Museum has strategic role as an education, communication and publication space from various knowledge.This is a comparison study between the material culture of Nan Han Cargo shipwreck site and various concepts of underwater archaeological museum applied some countries, one of them is Southeast Asia Experiental Maritime Museum in Singapore. Result of the study, through the comparison study, obtains the design and program for the museum theme to be applied at the underwater archaological museum in New Museology perspective."

"Arkeologi dan museum saat ini telah menjadi fenomena global, termasuk di Indonesia. Museum arkeologi adalah institusi yang mensinergikan disiplin ilmu arkeologi dan museologi. Museum ini berperan mengumpulkan budaya material, mengelolanya dan menginterpretasinya untuk dikomunikasikan pada publik. Menetapkan gagasan dan membuat konsep perencanaan awal pembentukan Museum Arkeologi Indonesia merupakan pokok bahasan pada tesis ini. Dengan konsep tiga fungsi dasar museum berupa penelitian, preservasi, dan komunikasi, perencanaan museum arkeologi dikembangkan. Pada museum generasi mendatang, termasuk museum arkeologi kecenderungannya beralih dari Eropa dan Wilayah Barat ke wilayah Asia dan Timur Tengah. Bagi Indonesia sebagai salah satu pusat perkembangan peradaban di Asia, ini merupakan tantangan sekaligus peluang yang harus direbut. Dengan potensi data arkeologi yang demikian melimpah dan sumberdaya yang cukup memadai, Indonesia harus berkompetisi bersama negara lain memajukan ilmu pengetahuan melalui media museum. Museum arkeologi dapat menjadi sebuah alat untuk menemukan identitas nasional, mengenali, dan menghargai tinggalan budaya material serta berbagai budaya yang masih hidup di daerah. Mengkonsepkan pembentukan Museum Arkeologi Indonesia merupakan bagian dari upaya mewujudkannya.

Nowadays Archaeology and Museum have become a global phenomenon. Such is the case in Indonesia. An archaeological museum is an institution which synergizes the disciplines of archaeology and museology. A museum?s role is to collect material culture, manage them and then interpret them to communicate them to the general public. Determining an idea and making an early plan to establish an Archaeological Museum of Indonesia are the main topic of discussion of this thesis. By using the concept of three basic functions of a museum ? research, preservation, and communication ? a plan of an archaeological museum is developed. The next generation of museums, including archaeological museums, the trend shifts from Europe and the Western World to Asia and the Middle East.

For Indonesia, as one of the development centers of civilization in Asia, this is a challenge and opportunity worth pursuing. With abundant potency of archaeological data and adequate sources, Indonesia has to compete with other countries in advancing science and knowledge with museum as its media. Archaeological museum can be used as a tool to find our national identity as well as to recognize and appreciate remains of material culture and various living cultures all over Indonesia. Making a concept of the establishment of an Archaeological Museum of Indonesia is part of the effort to realize it."

"Penelitian ini membahas penerapan museum situs dalam konteks new museology pada Kawasan Situs Prasejarah Maros, Sulawesi Selatan.Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Analisis difokuskan pada pendirian museum dengan konsep new museology yang didukung dengan teori komunikasi di museum, edukasi di museum, dan eksibisi di museum. Hasil dari penelitian ini mengusulkan pentingnya pendirian Museum Situs dalam konteks new museology pada Kawasan Situs Prasejarah Maros. Museum Situs Prasejarah Maros terdiri dari satu museum utama dengan sembilan museum pendukung. Komunikasi pada museum dilakukan melalui ekshibisi yang dibagi berdasarkan tema (theme oriented). Edukasi yang akan diberikan dalam museum dilakukan dengan pendekatan konstruktivis. Dengan demikian, pendirian Museum Situs Prasejarah Maros dengan menggunakan konsep New Museology diharapkan dapat berjalan sesuai dengan fungsinya dan tetap mengikuti perkembangan zaman.

This study discusses the application of site museum in the context of new museology in a Prehistoric Site Area in Maros, South Sulawesi. This is a descriptive qualitative study. The analysis focused on museum establishment with new museology concept that is supported by communication theory, education theory, and exhibition theory in the museum. Results from the study suggested the importance of Site Museum establishment in the context of New Museology in the Prehistoric Site Area in Maros, South Sulawesi. Maros Prehistoric Site Museum consists of one main museum with nine supporting museums. Communication in the main museum is conducted through an exhibition that is divided into themes (theme-oriented). Education in the museum is provided with constructivist approach. Thus, the establishment of Maros Prehistoric Site Museum by using New Museology concept expected to run well according to the function and stay abreast of the times."

"This book describes two different museums using construction technology as the common language that brings architecture and engineering together. The first is the Museum of the Ibere Camargo Foundation at Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, by Álvaro Siza and GOP, and the second is the Coach Museum at Lisbon in Portugal, by Paulo Mendes da Rocha and AFAconsult. Both projects put special emphasis on the design process as a construction language, achieved by a close collaboration promoted by the integrated design methodology that both teams follow. Besides its importance from an architectural and urban point of view, these two buildings suggest interesting topics that are present in current building research such as sustainability, the construction of façades with a heavy use of unrendered white concrete and the integration of all the technical infrastructure needed to build a successful high-tech museum. "Tesis ini membahas tentang konsep open-air museum sebagai salah satu jenis museum yang berlandaskan pada paradigma new museology. Lokasi penelitian di Kawasan Cagar Budaya Trowulan, Kabupaten Mojokerto Provinsi Jawa Timur. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan strategi studi kasus dan tahapan penelitian meliputi pengumpulan data, pengolahan data, dan integrasi data (kesimpulan). Hasil penelitian ini dapat merumuskan konsep dan model open-air museum yang dapat dikembangkan di Kawasan Cagar Budaya Trowulan. Pada intinya, open-air museum tersebut berupa bangunan-bangunan monumental yang berada di situs aslinya (in situ) disertai dengan interpretasi tentang aktivitas manusia pendukungnya yang diintegrasikan dalam sebuah tema tata pamer. Tema tata pamer yang disajikan adalah tentang multikultural dari masa Kerajaan Majapahit.

This thesis research the concept of open-air museum as a kind of museum that is based on the paradigm of new museology. Research location in the Heritage Regions Trowulan, Mojokerto, East Java Province. This research is a qualitative research with strategy case studies, and research stages include data collection, data processing, and data integration (conclusion). The research results can formulate concepts and models of open-air museum that can be developed in the Cultural Heritage Regions Trowulan. In essence, an open-air museum in the form of monumental buildings that were on the original site (in situ) accompanied by supporting the interpretation of human activities are integrated in a theme exhibition layout. Exhibition layout theme presented is about multicultural from the Majapahit Kingdom."
