"Article aimed to describe language learners' belief system and to investigate how significance the language learners' beliefs are between them in language learning. Using both qualitative and quantitative approaches, this research took 111 female- and 32 male-first semester college-students majoring in English Education as respondents. The instrument was 34 item BALLI questionnaire designed by Horwitz. The findings of the research showed that females and males language beliefs about language learning are mostly in similar fashion. The significant differences in responses were on the beliefs related to language and intelligence, enjoyment in practicing English, learning English-speaking cultures having English-speaking friends, and motivation in learning English."

"Penelitian ini menjelaskan tentang reformasi yang terjadi pada awal berdirinya Republik Turki. Fokus penelitian ini adalah reformasi bahasa yang terjadi di Turki pada periode 1928 hingga 1938. Melalui penelitian ini penulis menemukan fakta bahwa sebenarnya para sastrawan Turki telah mencoba untuk memodifikasi Bahasa Turki sejak abad ke 19. Upaya tersebut kemudian berlanjut hingga di bawah pemerintahan Mustafa Kemal Atatűrk. Reformasi Bahasa Turki dibagi menjadi dua fase yaitu pengadopsian huruf latin untuk menggantikan huruf Arab dan dilanjutkan dengan pemurnian Bahasa Turki untuk menghapuskan kosakata Arab dan Persia yang terdapat dalam bahasa Turki.

The research explains the reforms that occurred in the early days of the Republic of Turkey. The focus of this research is that language reform in Turkey in the period 1928 to 1938. Through this research the authors found that in fact the Turkish writers have tried to modify the Turkish language since the 19th century. The efforts are then continued until under Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. Turkish Language Reform is divided into two phases, namely the adoption of Latin script to replace the Arabic alphabet and followed by purification to eliminate Turkish Arabic and Persian vocabulary contained in the Turkish Language."
