"Acrostic is a special phenomenon of the modern Chinese language. It is a combination of lexical and syntactical that across "vocabulary" and “grammar” categories. The morphemes can be combined and can also be separated by various form changes depending on its development. Acrostic is always been a crucial part in teaching Chinese language to foreigners and less developed than other parts of the teaching. This study used quantitative method to analyze the problems associated with the acrostic in teaching Chinese to foreigners. Source of the data was learners' exercise and assignment. The discussion in this article was viewed from the perspective of the outside-oriented teaching, grouped into 3 main sections. The first was in terms of the usability characteristics to the acrostic developments in the acrostic grammar study. The second, based on the results of the questionnaire regarding the use of acrostic, research analyzed students' main mistakes and their causes. The third was to observe the condition of teaching acrostic. This research is expected to help teachers and learners of Mandarin understand and overcome the difficulties in learning acrostic."

"The goal of the article was to develop Mandarin vocabulary teaching material for Indonesian people and foreigners. Teaching material was developed by cutting vocabulary, called Chunk theory. Article clarified Chunk theory, basic strategy of teaching it, and the basic idea of teaching it; gave opinion and some important factors related to Chunk theory. It can be concluded that there is a significant factor in teaching Chunk theory, that is a meaning transformation process to different context. It can be more (Chunk Up), less (Chunk down), and similar (Chunk laterally).

"Penelitian ini membahas ekspresi kesantunan dalam tuturan yang termasuk ke dalam 10 constraints Strategi Utama Kesantunan oleh Leech (2005). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan constraints kesantunan dan menjabarkan ekspresi kesantunan yang muncul pada seri buku 对外汉语本科系列教材 Duìwài Hànyǔ Běnkē Xìliè Jiàocái Bahan Ajar Berseri untuk S1 Bahasa Mandarin sebagai Bahasa Asing (一年级教材 Yī Niánjí Jiàocái Buku Ajar Tahun Pertama). Manfaat yang ingin dicapai dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mendukung pemahaman pragmatik dalam kesantunan berbahasa Mandarin, serta menunjukkan bentuk-bentuk ekspresi kesantunan yang dapat digunakan oleh pembelajar. Penulis mengklasifikasi data tuturan dari buku ajar tersebut ke dalam Strategi Utama Kesantunan (SUK). Dari hasil penelitian ditemukan seluruh constraints SUK pada sumber data. Strategi yang paling banyak muncul adalah Strategi Generosity (Kedermawanan) dan Obligation of Self to Other (Kewajiban Diri sendiri terhadap Orang lain). Penulis juga menemukan bahwa beberapa ekspresi yang muncul pada data dapat digunakan dalam konteks yang berbeda-beda.

This study discusses the politeness expression within utterances which included in the 10 politeness constraints of Leech`s Grand Strategy of Politeness (2005). This study aims to describe the framework of the politeness and to elaborate the expression of politeness that appears in the textbook series 对外汉语本科系列教材Duìwài Hànyǔ Běnkē Xìliè Jiàocái Chinese Textbook Series for Undergraduate Foreign Language Teaching (一年级教材Yī Niánjí Jiàocái First Grade Textbook). We expect this research could benefit to support pragmatic understanding in Mandarin`s politeness, and also to signify a variety of forms of politeness expression the learners could use. The author classified speech data from the textbook which met the 10 constraints of Grand Strategy of Politeness (GSP). The results of this research founded that all GSP constraints appeared in the data source. The most common strategies are the Generosity and the Obligation of Self to Other. The authors also found that some of the expressions that appear in the data can be used in different contexts."

"ABSTRAK
Skripsi ini membahas mengenai bagaimana situasi dan kondisi pengajaran Bahasa Mandarin sebagai bahasa asing kedua dalam tingkat Sekolah Menengah Atas di Indonesia. Dalam penulisan ini, penulis melakukan studi kasus di SMA Negeri 78, Kemanggisan, Jakarta Barat. Dari hasil penelitian yang dilakukan penulis, didapatkan hasil mengenai situasi juga kondisi pengajaran Bahasa Mandarin, peran guru, siswa, dan buku ajar dalam kegiatan kelas Bahasa Mandarin. Selain itu, penulis juga mendeskripsikan capaian pemelajaran Bahasa Mandarin di kelas XI, SMA Negeri 78. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian studi kasus yang terdiri dari penelitian lapangan dan studi pustaka. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan adanya kesesuaian metode pengajaran yang digunakan oleh pengajar dengan kurikulum sekolah dan strategi pengajaran di luar metode pengajaran yang digunakan oleh pengajar karena adanya perbedaan capaian kemampuan Bahasa Mandarin di setiap kelas Bahasa Mandarin.

ABSTRACT
The focus of this study is to discuss about how the situation and condition of teaching Mandarin as second foreign language in senior high school level in Indonesia. In this thesis, the author conducted a case study at SMA Negeri 78, Kemanggisan, West Jakarta. From the results of research, obtained the results about the situation as well as conditions of teaching Mandarin, the role of teachers, students, and textbooks in the activities of Mandarin class. In addition, the author also describes the achievements of Mandarin learning in the class XI, SMA Negeri 78. This research uses case study research method consisting of field research and literature study. The results conclude that there is a suitability of teaching methods used by teachers with school curricula and teaching strategies beyond the teaching methods used by teacher due to differences in the achievement of Mandarin abilities in every Mandarin class. "
