"The writer analysed the presupposition in Barack Obama’s speeches on his first and second inaugural addresses, the writer comes to conclusion mentioned as the following. In this study the writer found that there are five types of presupposition. They were Existential presupposition (53.12%), Factive presupposition (15.17%), Lexical presupposition (24.55%), Structural presupposition (6.69%), and non-factive presupposition (0.44%). The most dominant presupposition used in Barack Obama’s speeches in his first and second inaugural addresses was Existential presupposition. It was because the speeches contained more definite descriptive, real facts and real information to stimulate the audience’ attention and to emphasize his ideas and promises."

"This research studies about the types of presupposition in TIME magazine and the writer want to find out what is the most dominant types of presupposition that used in TIMe magazine. The data are taken from TIME magazine from from the advertisement that is published in TIME magazine. From 06, 13, 20 April and May 2009. descriptive quantitative analysis is intended to describe and findings the moist dominant types of presupposition used in it. In this research the writer collected the data by reading the advertisement in TIME magazine and underlining the advertisement. The data are analyzed by identifying the presupposition based on the types. After analyzing the data, the writer finds that the most dominant types of presupposition used in TIME magazine. Existential presupposition is the presupposition that the assumption assumed to be committed to the existence of the entities names bya the speaker and assumed to be present in the noun phrase. "

"Topik penelitian ini adalah tuturan humor dalam pidato Presiden Barack Obama. Humor evaluatif ditemukan dalam pidatonya pada acara kenegaraan Asosiasi Koresponden Gedung Putih tahun 2013 hingga 2016. Penelitian ini memiliki pokok bahasan yaitu humor evaluatif dalam wacana pidato. Penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif dengan menggunakan 3 langkah metode yaitu, transkripsi, identifikasi dan analisis yang akan disampaikan secara deskriptif dari data yang terkumpul. Penelitian ini menggunakan 130 tuturan humor evaluatif yang kemudian diklasifikasikan ke dalam 7 jenis humor evaluatif. Jenis tuturan yamg dianalisis yaitu 1) kontradiktif, 2) asosiatif, 3) pemarkah afiksasi, 4) metaforis, 5) ilustratif, 6) leksikalisasi dan 7) konteksasi. Konteksasi ini terbagi ke dalam 2 bahasan yaitu konteksasi verbal dan nonverbal. Pola yang ditemukan dalam setiap jenis tuturan kemudian disebut sebagai faktor pembentuk humor dalam variabel linguistik. Pola ini digunakan Presiden Obama sebagai sebuah strategi dalam penyampaian evaluasi atas isu sosial, ekonomi, maupun politik yang terjadi di sekitar partisipan terlibat. Prosses humor terjadi berdasarkan pemahaman bersama yang dimiliki oleh setiap partisipan terlibat atau disebut sebagai common ground.

The topic of this research is the utterance of humor in President Barack Obama's speech. Evaluative humor is found in his speech at state events of the White House Correspondents Association from 2013 to 2016. This study has the main topic of evaluative humor in speech discourse. This research is qualitative by using 3 steps method, namely, transcribing, identifying and analyzing which will be delivered descriptively from the collected data. This study uses 130 evaluative humor utterances which are then classified into 7 types of evaluative humor. The types of utterances analyzed are 1) contradictory, 2) associative, 3) affixation markers, 4) metaphorical, 5) illustrative, 6) lexicalization and 7) contextualization. This context is divided into verbal and nonverbal contexts. The patterns in each type of speech are then referred to as humor-forming factors based on the linguistics variables found in speech. President Obama used this pattern as a strategy in conveying an evaluation of social, economic, and political issues that occurred around the audiences. The humor process occurs based on a common understanding shared by each participant who is involved. It is referred as a common ground."

"Rubrik konsultasi psikologi Dari Hati ke Hati adalah rubrik konsultasi yang mengangkat masalah cinta dan perkawinan. Di dalam retorik ini, strategi tindak tutur berperan penting dalam komunikasi antara konselor dan klien. Penelitian ini berusaha membandingkan strategi tindak tutur konselor laki-laki dan perempuan terkait dengan kesantunan di dalam konseling. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif, hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa strategi tindak tutur tak langsung mendominasi tuturan para konselor, terutama pada ilokusi perintah. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa kesantunan berperan penting di dalam pemulihan kondisi psikologis klien. Baik konselor laki-laki dan perempuan sama-sama menggunakan ilokusi berempati, menentramkan dan mendamaikan hati, berpendapat, dan mengecam. Dari segi perbandingan pilihan kata yang digunakan oleh keduanya, konselor perempuan cenderung menggunakan pilihan kata dalam bentuk presuposisi pilihan kata yang digunakan oleh konselor laki-laki. Hal ini berdampak pada besarnya intensitas isyarat yang digunakan oleh konselor perempuan daripada konselor laki-laki.

Dari Hati ke Hati is a rubric of consultation which discusses love and marriage problems. In this rhetoric, speech act strategies play an important role in the communication between counselors and clients. This research aims to compare speech act strategies conducted by male and female counselors in this counseling. Using qualitative method, the results show that indirect speech act dominates the male and female utterance especially in commands. It proves that politeness plays a significant role in the process of psychological treatment. Both male and female counselors use illocutions such as empathizing, reassuring, criticizing, and giving opinions. From their diction, female counselors prefer using the words from male counselors presuppositions. Therefore, female counselors use more hints than male counselors."

"Skripsi ini meneliti bagaimana unsur-unsur ekuivalensi terkait makna denotatif novel berbahasa Jerman Der Vorleser diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Indonesia dengan judul Sang Juru Baca. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif yang berfokus pada hasil terjemahan dan sejauhmana fungsi komunikatif bahasa dipertahankan dalam hasil terjemahan tersebut. Dari hasil analisis korpus data, ditemukan bahwa bukan hanya padanan makna kata dan ungkapan secara leksikal yang dapat mewujudkan ekuivalensi dan efek komunikatif dalam karya terjemahan., melainkan juga konteks, struktur kalimat, dan suasana yang ingin dibangun penulis.

This thesis reviews how the equivalence elements particularly the denotative meaning in the German novel Der Vorleser translated into Indonesian language with the title Sang Juru Baca. The research is conducted qualitatively and focused on the result of the translation regarding how far the communicative functions of language being maintained within the translation. The result of the analysis reveals that the lexical meaning of a word or term is not the only factor affecting the equivalence and communicative effect of a translated text, but also context, structure of sentence, and the atmosphere which the author would like to build."

"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pola-pola dasar kalimat mahasiswa dalam menulis karangan. metode penelitian dirancang dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif. dalam hal ini, subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa bahsa inggris semester satu. setiap mahasiswa diarahkan menuliskan teks recount dan selanjutnya peneliti menganalisanya. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebahagian besar dari mahasiswa hanya mampu menggunakan tiga pola kalimat dasar yaitu s+v, s+v+o, dan s+lv+adj. pola kalimat lainnya seperti sv+io+o, s+v+o+oc, s+lv+n belum ditemukan. disamping itu terdapat beberapa kesalahan dalam grammar seperti tenses, penggunaan linking verb, parts of speech, dsb. ini menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa semester satu jurusan pendidikan bahasa inggris masih sangat lemah dalam menggunakan pola-pola kalimat bahasa inggris."

"Penelitian mengenai identitas melalui narasi tertulis seperti pada memoar dan biografi sudah populer di bidang linguistik selama beberapa dekade. Dalam tulisan ini, memoar terkenal yang ditulis oleh Michelle Robinson Obama, Becoming (2018), diteliti dengan tujuan untuk menganalisis konstruksi identitas. Memoar ini secara spesifik dipilih karena narasi personal yang kuat dan cerita yang menginspirasi, dimana menceritakan perjuangan seorang wanita Afrika-Amerika melawan diskriminasi di Amerika Serikat. Tulisan ini berfokus pada bagian tertentu dari memoar, yaitu Becoming Us, yang dianalisis melalui pendekatan DHA (Analisis Wacana Historis) yang dipelopori oleh Ruth Wodak. Pendekatan ini menyediakan beberapa strategi diskursif, beberapa di antaranya adalah referensi/nominasi dan predikasi yang diaplikasikan untuk menganalisis fitur-fitur linguistik yang menyediakan representasi positif, negatif, dan netral dari aktor sosial. Semua representasi yang ada nantinya berkontribusi untuk mengonstruksi identitas budaya dan ras Michelle Obama. Kebaruan dari penelitian ini terdapat pada pendekatan yang lebih linguistik dan konteks sejarah sebagai usaha untuk meneliti identitas.

Researches on identity through written narrative such as memoir and biography have been popular in the linguistics field over the decades. In this paper, a famous memoir written by Michelle Robinson Obama, Becoming (2018), is examined as a means to analyze the construction of identities. This particular memoir is chosen because of the strong personal narrative and inspiring story which recounts the struggle of the African American woman against discrimination in the United States. This paper focuses on the selected section of the memoir, Becoming Us, which is examined through the Discourse-Historical Analysis (DHA) pioneered by Ruth Wodak. This approach offers several discursive strategies, some of which are referential/nomination and predication that are applied to analyze the linguistic features which provide positive, negative, and neutral representations of the social actor. All of these representations then contribute to construct Michelle Obama’s cultural and racial identities. The novelty of this research lies in a more linguistic approach and historical context as the endeavors to examine the identities."

"Saat ini, pencarian informasi tidak terbatas pada media cetak maupun siaran berita televisi. Informasi dapat diperoleh melalui media sosial, seperti Instagram. Dari berbagai macam jenis informasi yang beredar di Instagram, berita seputar selebriti dan hiburan menjadi salah satu di antaranya. Berdasarkan fenomena ini, penulis mencari tahu bagaimana akun berita selebriti dan hiburan di Instagram mengaplikasikan teknik pragmatik dalam penyajian konten berita dan bagaimana teknik ini mempengaruhi citra merek akun tersebut. Akun Instagram E News dipilih sebagai studi kasus dalam penelitian ini sebab akun ini merupakan akun berita selebriti dan hiburan asal Amerika yang memiliki pengikut paling banyak di Instagram. Untuk menganalisis data, penulis menggunakan metode kualitatif untuk menganalisis data tekstual berupa keterangan gambar. Sebanyak 36 keterangan gambar dari akun Instagram E News diambil sebagai sampel dan dianalisis menggunakan kerangka teori yang dikembangkan oleh Al-Hindawi & Metley (2017). Kerangka ini digunakan dalam artikel mereka tentang analisis pragmatik pada berita selebriti dan hiburan berbasis situs web di Amerika dan Inggris. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam kasus E News, teknik pragmatik berupa presupposition, Grice’s conversational maxims, dan allusion masing-masing memegang peran penting dalam membentuk konten berita, menarik minat pengikut, dan menciptakan citra merek yang modern.

Instagram has been the main platform for real-time information seeking for the last five years. The kind of information that people look for includes entertainment news. The present study wants to examine the way an entertainment news account presents its news content using different pragmatic techniques and how these techniques affect its brand image because minor attention has been paid to purpose-oriented accounts. To fulfill the aim, there are two research problems that are addressed: (1) what are the most common pragmatic techniques used in the caption? And (2) what significance does each technique have in presenting the news and shaping the brand image? Therefore, 36 sample captions from E News Instagram account, as the most followed entertainment news account on Instagram, are taken, observed, and analyzed using a framework developed by Al-Hindawi & Metley (2017) in their article about pragmatic analysis on American and British website-based entertainment news that focuses on three pragmatic pillars which are presupposition, Grice’s conversational maxims, and allusion. The study found that in the case of E News, presupposition, violation to Grice’s conversational maxims, and allusion are not merely used to keep the content interesting, but they respectively hold important roles in shaping the content of the news, engaging audience’s interest, and creating a good brand image."

Keterangan mengenai naskah ini tidak berhasil ditemukan pada beberapa katalog naskah. Oleh karena itu, untuk sementara waktu naskah NU disebut sebagai codex unicus. Pada bagian isi, naskah ini menjabarkan tingkatan para pemimpin dan kekuasaannya serta menjelaskan cara-cara penobatan raja, antara lain dengan cara bai?at, khalifah, mufakat, dan kemenangan dalam perang. Tidak diketahui siapa penyalin dan waktu penyalinan naskah ini. Pada bagian akhir, muncul dugaan bahwa naskah ini dalam keadaan tidak lengkap. Hal ini didukung oleh adanya percakapan antara dua tokoh yang terpotong.

ABSTRACT

Naṣīḥat al-Umarā? (NU)?advice for the leaders is a manuscript containing advices for the kings. Currently, NU manuscript can only be found in Banda Aceh State Museum by inventory number 07_01520. Information related to this manuscript can?t be found in any other catalogs. Therefore, NU temporarily called as codex unicus. The content of this manuscript explains the hierarchy of the leaders, the leader?s authority, and the ways of coronation, i.e. bai?at, khalifah, and mufakat. It is not known who the copyist and when the time of copying is. In the final section, alleged that this script in an incomplete state. It can be proved by the truncated conversation between two characters."
