"More than two decades after Michael Rutter (1987) published his summary of protective processes associated with resilience, researchers continue to report definitional ambiguity in how to define and operationalize positive development under adversity. The problem has been partially the result of a dominant view of resilience as something individuals have, rather than as a process that families, schools, communities and governments facilitate. Because resilience is related to the presence of social risk factors, there is a need for an ecological interpretation of the construct that acknowledges the importance of people?s interactions with their environments. The social ecology of resilience provides evidence for this ecological understanding of resilience in ways that help to resolve both definition and measurement problems."

""Young people need to cope in a variety of settings, including school, home, peer groups and the workplace, and with a range of life problems such as examinations and parental divorce. This thoroughly revised and updated new edition of Adolescent Coping presents the latest research and applications in the field of coping. It highlights the ways in which coping can be measured and, in particular, details a widely used adolescent coping instrument. Topics include the different ways in which girls and boys cope, coping in the family, how culture and context determine how young people cope, decisional coping, problem solving and social coping, with a particular emphasis on practice. Each topic is considered in light of past and recent research findings and each chapter includes quotations from young people. While topics such as depression, eating disorders, self-harm and grief and loss are addressed, there is a substantial focus on the positive aspects of coping, including an emphasis on resilience and the achievement of happiness. In addition to the wide-ranging research findings that are reported, many of the chapters consider implications and applications of the relevant findings with suggestions for the development of coping skills and coping skills training. Adolescent Coping will be of interest to students of psychology, social work, sociology, education and youth and community work as well as to an audience of parents, educators and adolescents."--PUBLISHER'S WEBSITE."

Homosexuals often experience prejudice, discrimination, and violence regarding their sexual orientation. Therefore, homosexuals experience one specific stressor, namely minority stress which can be manifested in the form of stigma consciousness which will lead homosexuals to depressive symptoms. However, the environment can provide a protective factor in the form of social support and at the intrapersonal level there is a protective factor from the emergence of depressive symptoms, namely resilience. The present study was conducted to examine the mediating effect of perceived social support and resilience on the relationship between stigma consciousness and depressive symptoms. There were 116 participants in this study with the criteria; homosexual, at least 18 years old, Indonesian citizens, and cisgender. Multiple regression analysis using the PROCESS for SPSS model 4 shows that the research hypothesis is supported by data, perceived social support and resilience fully mediate the relationship between stigma consciousness and depressive symptoms. Based on the results of this study, it is important for homosexual individuals, the public, and practitioners to understand the stress of minorities and identify the factors that contribute to the emergence of depressive symptoms that can occur in homosexual individuals."

Resilience is a crucial capacity for female heads of households who frequently face multiple layered challenges in fulfilling their roles. This capacity relates to an individual’s internal belief in facing adversity, as well as the support received from their surrounding environment. This study aims to analyze the correlation between social support and self-efficacy with the resilience of female heads of households. A quantitative method was used with a descriptive approach and a cross-sectional design. The respondents of this study were 51 female heads of households who are members of the PEKKA Foundation (Women-Headed Family Empowerment Foundation) in East Jakarta. A saturated sampling technique was applied, covering the entire population. Data analysis techniques included cross-tabulation and Kendall’s Tau-b correlation test, preceded by validity and reliability tests using SPSS. The measurement of social support variables referred to four dimensions proposed by House (1981): emotional, appraisal, informational, and instrumental support. The self-efficacy variable used three dimensions from Bandura (1997): level, generality, and strength. Meanwhile, resilience was measured based on four aspects developed by Connor & Davidson (2003) and modified by Dong et al. (2013), which include flexibility in adapting to changes and challenges, support from family and the social environment, spiritual influence, and having a goal-oriented life. The research instrument used a Likert scale with four response options: strongly disagree, disagree, agree, and strongly agree. Univariate analysis showed that the majority of respondents had high levels of social support (90.2%), self-efficacy (86.3%), and resilience (78.4%). The results of the bivariate correlation test indicate moderate and positive relationship between social support and resilience (correlation coefficient = 0.328; p = 0.018). This suggests a tendency for women heads of households who perceive higher social support to also exhibit higher resilience. Furthermore, the relationship between self-efficacy and resilience is also moderate and positive (correlation coefficient = 0.489; p = 0.000), indicating that higher levels of self-efficacy tend to be associated with higher resilience. The researcher recommends that policy and program makers pay attention to aspects of social support and self-efficacy as part of interventions to increase the resilience of female heads of households."

Teacher is an important profession, yet they have a large amount of responsibility and emotional attachments with their students. These factors make teachers vulnerable to stress and burnout. This vulnerability is increased by the COVID-19 changing period, which requires teacher to constantly be ready in adapting their study methods. The adaptation requires a trial and error process, so it is highly likely for teachers to fail before they succeed. In order to help teachers cope with stress and failure, resilience is needed. To ensure resilience can function well in the midst of high stress, social support is needed. Social support may come from significant others, families, and friends. This study aimed to see the relationship of social support and resilience of DKI Jakarta teachers. Social support and resilience in DKI Jakarta teachers (N=101) were measured using the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support and the Brief Resilience Scale. Analysis showed that social support had a positive and significant correlation with resilience. From the three sources of social support, only social support from family showed a positive and significant correlation with resilience, while the others do not."
