"This book asks how particular news events become global iconic events, while others fade into oblivion. Focusing on journalists covering the fall of the Berlin Wall and on subsequent retellings of the event (from Legoland reenactments to segments of the Berlin Wall installed in shopping malls), it discusses how storytellers build up certain events so that people in many parts of the world remember them for long periods of time. The East German border opening that we now summarize as the fall of the Berlin Wall was in fact unintentional, confusing, and prompted in part by misleading media coverage of bureaucratic missteps. But its global message is not about luck or accident or happenstance in history. Incarnated as a global iconic event, the fall of the Berlin Wall has come to communicate the momentary power that vulnerable ordinary people can have. The events story, branded into a simple phrase, a short narrative and a recognizable visual scene, provides people from China to Turkey to the United States with a contemporary social myth. "Guru dikatakan sebagai penentu keberhasilan dalam pendidikan. Meskipun begitu, masih banyak guru yang belum kompeten dan berkualitas di Indonesia dan kurangnya antusiasme guru dianggap sebagai salah satu penyebabnya. Hal ini menjadi dasar pengembangan alat ukur Skala Antusiasme Guru SAG di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyusun alat ukur yang konsisten secara internal, valid mengukur antusiasme guru, memiliki item yang mampu membedakan individu, serta menyusun norma. Penelitian dilakukan kepada guru sekolah menengah di 15 sekolah di Jabodetabek n=299. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa alat ukur SAG memiliki tingkat konsistensi internal yang baik ?=0,886, valid mengukur antusiasme guru melalui uji validitas konstruk dengan alat ukur new general self-efficacy pada dimensi antusiasme dalam mata pelajaran r=0,379, p.

Teachers are said to be the determinants of academic success. However, there are still many teachers who are not competent and qualified in Indonesia with lack of teacher enthusiasm is considered as one of the main cause. This became the basis for the development of Skala Antusiasme Guru SAG in Indonesia. This study aims to construct a test that internally consistent, validly measure teacher 39 s enthusiasm, have items that able to discriminate individuals, and set the norms. The study was conducted on secondary teachers in 15 schools in Jabodetabek area n 299. Result of the study shown that SAG has good internal consistency 0,886, validly measure teacher 39s enthusiasm through construct validity check with new general self efficacy test in subject enthusiasm r 0,379.

"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah intellectual humility dapat memprediksi efektivitas guru sekolah menengah di Indonesia. Partisipan penelitian ini adalah 263 guru sekolah menengah (M-usia = 41.75 tahun, M-pengalaman mengajar = 14.97 tahun). Penelitian ini menggunakan Intellectual Humility Scale (Porter & Schumann, 2018) untuk mengukur intellectual humility dan Teacher Effectiveness Scale (Kyriakides, Campbell & Christofidou, 2002) untuk mengukur efektivitas guru. Analisis regresi linear berganda digunakan untuk menguji hipotesis penelitian dengan mengontrol variabel pengalaman mengajar. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa intellectual humility secara signifikan dapat memprediksi efektivitas guru. Intellectual humility ditemukan memiliki effect size medium terhadap efektivitas guru. Hasil penelitian mengimplikasikan bahwa intellectual humility merupakan karakteristik yang penting untuk dimiliki oleh guru. Hal tersebut dapat menjadi pertimbangan bagi sekolah-sekolah untuk menyelenggarakan program untuk mengembangkan karakteristik intellectual humility pada guru. Selain itu, hasil penelitian juga mengimplikasikan bahwa terdapat faktor- faktor lain yang berperan dalam efektivitas guru. Hal tersebut sebaiknya dipertimbangkan oleh penelitian selanjutnya mengenai efektivitas guru.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of intellectual humility in predicting teacher effectiveness among secondary school teachers in Indonesia. A total of 263 secondary school teachers (M-age = 41.75 years, M-teaching experience = 14.97 years) participated in this study. The Intellectual Humility Scale (Porter & Schumann, 2018) and the Teacher Effectiveness Scale (Kyriakides, Campbell, & Christofidou, 2002) were used to measure intellectual humility and teacher effectiveness, respectively. A multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to test the study’s hypothesis while controlling for teaching experience. The result of the analysis shows that intellectual humility significantly predicts and has a medium effect on teacher effectiveness. The result of this study implies that intellectual humility is an important characteristic to be possessed by teachers and schools should consider providing programs that are aimed to cultivate intellectual humility in teachers. Additionally, it is implied that other factors also play a role in teacher effectiveness and should be taken into consideration by future research on this topic."
