"The aim of the Handbook of Social Indicators and Quality of Life Research is to create an overview of the field of Quality of Life (QOL) studies in the early years of the 21st century that can be updated and improved upon as the field evolves and the century unfolds.
This book provides a review of the historical development of the field including the history of QOL in medicine and mental health as well as the research related to quality-of-work-life (QWL) programs. It discusses several of QOL main concepts, happiness, positive psychology, and subjective wellbeing. Relations between spirituality and religiousness and QOL are examined as are the effects of educational attainment on QOL and marketing, and the associations with economic growth. The book goes on to investigate methodological approaches and issues that should be considered in measuring and analysing quality of life from a quantitative perspective. The final chapters are dedicated to research on elements of QOL in a broad range of countries and populations."

"Sustainability remains one of the major issues in tourism today. Concerns over climate and environmental change, the fallout from the global economic and financial crisis, and the seeming failure to meeting UN Millennium development goals have only reinforced the need for more sustainable approaches to tourism, however they be defined. Given the centrality of sustainability in tourism curricula, policies, research and practice it is therefore appropriate to prepare a state of the art handbook on the relationship between tourism and sustainability. This timely Handbook of Tourism and Sustainability is developed from specifically commissioned original contributions from recognised authors in the field, providing a systematic guide to the current state of knowledge on this area. It is interdisciplinary in coverage and international in scope through its authorship and content. The volume commences with an assessment of tourism's global environmental, e.g. climate, emissions, energy use, biodiversity, water use, land use, and socio-economic effects, e.g. economic impacts, employment and livelihoods, culture. This then provides the context for the following sections that describe the main theoretical frameworks and constructs that inform tourism and sustainability, management tools and approaches, and the approaches used in different tourism and travel industry sectors. The book concludes by examining emerging and future concerns in tourism and sustainability such as peak-oil, post-carbon tourism, green economy and transition tourism"

Kualitas hidup diukur menggunakan alat ukur The World Health Organization Quality of Life - Bref (WHOQOL-Bref) versi Indonesia yang terdiri dari 26 item.

Mental health issue is one of Bandung City’s challenges to maintan the quality of life. Quality of life is determined by spatial characteristics of residence, so that quality of life has spatial dependence. In this study, researcher used population density as an environmental and spatial features that affect quality of life. Hence, this study aims to see the spatial dependence of each domain of quality of life associated with population density which was conducted on 486 participants over 18 years from 151 Bandung City’s sub-district by spreading online questionnaires. Quality of life was measured using Indonesian version of The World Health Organization Quality of Life - Bref (WHOQOL-Bref) Scale which consists of 26 items. The data of population density, name, and number of sub-district was obtained from Badan Pusat Statistik Kota Bandung.
The analysis carried out is spatial analysis such as data exploration and spatial autocorrelation by using GeoDa, linear regression and descriptive analysis by using IBM SPSS. This study shows that physical domain (r = -0,064), social domain (r = -0,008), and environment domain (r = -0,022) of quality of life have not a spatial dependence, except for the psychological domain (r = 0,02). In addition to that, the results also show that population density cannot predict this spatial dependence (p-value physical domain = 0,12, p-value psychological domain = 0,28, p-value social domain = 0,47, p-value environment domain = 0,37).

Kualitas hidup diukur dengan menggunakan alat ukur The World Health Organization Quality of Life - Bref (WHOQOL-Bref) dan angka kepadatan penduduk setiap kelurahan diambil dari portal Jakarta Open Data.

This study aims to examine the spatial dependence of quality of life based on population density. The research data was obtained by spreading online questionnaires to residents of DKI Jakarta who are aged over 18 years old. Quality of life was measured using the World Health Organization Quality of Life - Bref (WHOQOL-Bref) measuring instrument and the data of population density of each kelurahan was taken from the Jakarta Open Data portal. This research was conducted using descriptive analysis and spatial analysis such as spatial autocorrelation and spatial regression by using Quantum GIS, GeoDa, and ArcGIS applications. This study found that the domains of physical health, psychological, and environment of quality of life have spatial dependence and geographically form clustered patterns. It is also found that the role of population density predicts spatial dependence."

In recent years, floods are seen to increase in frequency around DKI Jakarta. This research aims to study the perception of DKI Jakarta residents regarding risks of floods and its relationship with their quality of life (QoL). This research was carried out on 443 participants between the age of 18-60 years old and live in DKI Jakarta. Half of the participants had flood experience and the average score of flood risk perception is found to be fairly high. However, simple regression analysis revealed that flood risk perception did not contribute significantly to quality of life. Present findings serve as a warning to related parties to improve preventive and protective measures toward flooding in DKI Jakarta to avoid possible worse impacts on the residents’ quality of life."
