"Pernikahan merupakan sebuah proses memiliki beberapa tahapan inti yang salah satunya adalah mid-IW marriage yang juga disebut sebagai periode empty-nest karena pada saat ini anak yang melalui masa remaja akan mcninggalkan rumah. Pada tahapan ini umurnnya suami dan istri sedang berada pada masa dewasa madya (40 - 65 tahun; Papalia, 2001). Menumt Preto (dalam Bird & Melville, 2004), tahapan mid- IW marriage memiliki potensi besar untuk mengaiami stres. Hal ini tezjadi karcna adanya krisis psikologis dan biologis pada suami maupun istri berdasarkan tugas perkembangannya Bila stresor yang tezjadi tidak diselesaikan dengan cara komunikasi dan kcrjasama yang baik antara suami dan isiri, maka akan berakibat pada kepuasan pemikahan. Sementara, kepuasan pemikahan sendiri merupakan falctor yang sangat penting yang dapat mcmpengaruhi kepuasan hidup yang diukur secara subyektif oleh masing-masing individu. Dengan tingkat kepuasan pernikahan yang baik, maka akan membantu individu untuk meningkatkan kesehatan mental individu dalam pcmikahan dan dalam kehidupan tua kelak. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan mendapatkan gambamn mengenai kepuasan pemikahan pada pasangan mid-IW marriage. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalah pcndekatan kuantitatif dengan 62 partisipan, dengan menggunakan Icuesioner Marita! Satisfaction Questionnaire jbr Older Persons (MSQFOP). Selain itu penclitian juga menggmmakan pendekatan kualitatif untuk menggali secara lebih mendalam kepuasan pernikahan pada satu pasangan mid-1% marriage. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada rata-rata pasangan mid-IW marriage memiliki tingkat kepuasan pernikahan yang memuaskan. Selain itu, tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signilikan pada kepuasan pernikahan suami maupun istri. Pcnclitian kualitatif menunjukkan perbedaan pandangan pada suami dan isui yang mempengaruhi kepuasan pemikahan. Perbedaan ini akhimya menyebabkan suami dan istri menyatakan kepuasan pemikahannya secam nonnatif, terutama karena adanya masalah yang texjadi pada komunikasi dan kesehatan dari suami dan istri yang menunjukkan kurangnya kepuasan pada aspek tersebut. Data tambahan menunjukkan bahwa rata-lata suami menunjukkan tingkat kepuasan yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan istri. Sclain itu, tjngkat pendidikan, pekenjaan, penghasilan, usia, dan jumlah anak tidak mempengaruhi kepuasan pemikahan. Namun Iama pcmikahan mempakan faktor yang mcmpcngaruhi kepuasan pemikahan.

Marriage, as a process, has its several core stages, in which one of them, is mid-life marriage, which also called empty-nest period since in this stage, the rnaturely growing child will leave home, Generally at this stage, the husband and wife are currently in a middle age adult (40 - 65 year old, Papalia, 2001). According to Preto, (Bird & Melville, 2004), the rnid-life marriage stage has a big potential to endure stress. It happen because there is a psychological and physical crisis on husband and wife based on their developmental tasks. Ifthe occurred stressor does not resolved in a well and good communication and cooperation between husband and wife, it will effect on marriage satisfaction. In addition, the marital satisfaction itself is a very important factor that could aifect the satisfaction in life measured subjectively by each individual. With a high level of marital satisfaction, it will aid individuals in improving its mental health in marriage and fixture life soon.

The main object of this research is to lcnow and leam as well as to gain an image of how marital satisfaction is suppose to be in mid-life marriage spouses. The research approach is a quantitative with 62 participants, using Marital Satisfaction Questionnaire for Older Persons (MSQFOP) questionnaire. Aside &om that this research is using qualitative approach as well to dig deeper the marital satisfaction in a mid-life marriage couple.

Result of the research showed that most of mid-life marriage couples has a good level of marital satisfaction. In addition, there was not any significant difference in the husbands or wife's marital satisfaction. Qualitative research showed that different views in them are affecting the marital satisfaction. This different views iinally made them stated their level of marital satisfation normatively. Additional data shown that generally, most of husbands showed higher level on marital satisfaction than wives. In addition, educational level, job, income, age and amount of children did not aifect their marital satisfaction, but the period of marriage itself is thc one that aifecting marital satisfaction."
