"This book offers a comprehensive overview of the financial systems of major industrialized countries using the statistical framework of the financial accounts. After a discussion of how economists agreed to create a framework to monitor the financial linkages between surplus and deficit sectors, the book analyzes in detail the composition and the recent evolution of financial assets and liabilities for households (including public pension rights), firms and intermediaries. Next, the volume studies the convergence patterns of financial structures and their influence on the effectiveness of monetary policy within European countries. The final chapter unifies the previous pictures, showing how the effects of financial integration and global imbalances could have been foreseen based on the financial accounts. "

"Finance is a crucial element for a China in full evolution after three decades of reform and opening up, this thesis therefore aims to analyze financial reforms in China from an institutional point of view. After attempting to decipher the puzzle between finance and growth, we discussed the reforms of financial institutions in China and the governments efforts to adopt the reforms focused on access to the CMO; We also analyzed non-performing loans (NPLs), a thorny problem for Chinese state-owned banks (SOBs) and / or enterprises (SOEs) without forgetting the theme of opening up the banking and financial sector to foreign competition. Finally, being a hot and controversial sector - a pillar of growth and a risk bubble at the same time, real estate is experiencing its specific course during its reforms from the old regime to the new mechanism in China. In fact, there are many economic and financial variables supporting the expansion of the real estate market in China."

"Architectural stress is the inability of a system design to respond to new market demands. It is an important yet often concealed issue in high tech systems. In From scientific instrument to industrial machine, we look at the phenomenon of architectural stress in embedded systems in the context of a transmission electron microscope system built by FEI Company. Traditionally, transmission electron microscopes are manually operated scientific instruments, but they also have enormous potential for use in industrial applications. However, this new market has quite different characteristics. There are strong demands for cost-effective analysis, accurate and precise measurements, and ease-of-use. These demands can be translated into new system qualities, e.g. reliability, predictability and high throughput, as well as new functions, e.g. automation of electron microscopic analyses, automated focusing and positioning functions.
From scientific instrument to industrial machine takes a pragmatic approach to the problem of architectural stress. In particular, it describes the outcomes of the Condor project, a joint endeavour by a consortium of industrial and academic partners. In this collaboration an integrated approach was essential to successfully combine various scientific results and show the first steps towards a new direction. System modelling and prototyping were the key techniques to develop better understanding and innovative solutions to the problems associated with architectural stress."
