"ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana seorang tokoh di dalam serial mengalami perubahan selama serial berlangsung, saya secara khusus memilih untuk mengamati perubahan karakter Richard Castle di dalam serial Castle dari season 1 sampai season 5 atau season terbaru. Dengan mengamati perubahan karakter yang dia alami, saya meneliti faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan perubahan di dalam karakter Castle. Penelitian ini akan menggunakan serial itu sendiri sebagai objek penelitian disertai metodologi kualitatif, kemudian saya juga akan meneliti sifat Castle dan bagaimana dia berinteraksi dengan orang di sekitarnya pada awal season. Setelah itu, ketika karakternya mengalami perubahan secara perlahan, saya akan menganalisis di adegan mana perilakunya mulai berubah dan menganalisis juga factor-faktor yang menyebabkan perubahan tersebut baik dari dalam maupun luar. Hasilnya adalah perubahan karakter Richard Castle di dalam serial Castle sangat mudah terlihat dari season ke season lainnya dan perubahan tersebut terjadi disebabkan adanya factor dari luar.

ABSTRACT

This research aims to see how a character in a film series changes throughout the story, I specifically examine the character development of Richard Castle in the Castle series from season 1 to season 5 or the latest season. By examining his character development, I analyze the factors that had caused the change in Castle?s character. This study will be using the series itself as the object of the research by using qualitative methodology; then I will examine what are Castle?s behaviours in the beginning of the season, then examine how he interacts with people around him. After that, when his behaviour slowly changes, I will analyze in which scene his behaviour starts to change and analyze all the factors that had caused the change which are the external and internal factors. The result is that the character development in Castle series was very explicit as he changes in the series from one characteristic to another and the changes that occured in Castle mostly came from external factors."

"Peaky Blinders Season 5 (2019) merupakan musim kelima dari serial "Peaky Blinders", yang merupakan serial Netflix yang mengisahkan tentang sebuah kelompok kriminal di kota Birmingham, Inggris, pada masa Perang Dunia pertama. Artikel ini akan menganalisis tindakan Thomas Shelby, penjahat dan karakter utama dalam serial Netflix Peaky Blinders musim ke-5 (2019), menggunakan teori Psikoanalisis Freud. Thomas Shelby adalah seorang penjahat, tetapi dia juga dianggap pahlawan oleh karakter lain di Peaky Blinders musim ke-5. Saya menemukan bahwa kondisi psikologis Thomas Shelby dapat digunakan untuk menjelaskan setiap tindakan agresifnya dan dapat mengubah cara pandang orang-orang di sekitarnya terhadap kejahatannya menggunakan metode yang dikembangkan oleh Sigmund Freud. Saya menyimpulkan bahwa alasan psikologis di balik tindakan agresif Thomas Shelby dapat mengubahnya dari penjahat menjadi pahlawan bagi orang-orang yang terpinggirkan di sekitarnya karena Id dan Superego yang muncul secara seimbang dan bersamaan. Situasi ini dijelaskan oleh Sigmund Freud dalam “Mekanisme Pertahanan” yang masih menjadi bagian dari teori Psikoanalisis. Kemunculan Id dan Superego secara bersamaan dapat menimbulkan pembenaran tindak pidana bagi pelaku kejahatan dan memperoleh simpati dari masyarakat.

Peaky Blinders Season 5 (2019) is the fifth season of "Peaky Blinders" series, which is a Netflix series that tells the story of a criminal group in the city of Birmingham, England, during the first World War. This article will analyze the actions of Thomas Shelby, a criminal and main character in Netflix series Peaky Blinders Season 5 (2019), using Freud’s Psychoanalysis theory. Thomas Shelby is a criminal, but he is also considered a hero by other characters in Peaky Blinders season 5. I find that the psychological condition of Thomas Shelby could be used to explain each of his aggressive actions and it could change the perspective of people surrounding him towards his crime using the method developed by Sigmund Freud. I conclude that the psychological reasons behind the aggressive acts of Thomas Shelby could turn him from a criminal into a hero for marginalized people surrounding him because the Id and Superego that appear in balance and simultaneously. This situation is described by Sigmund Freud in “Defense Mechanism,” which is still a part of Psychoanalysis theory. The simultaneous appearance of Id and Superego can lead to justification of criminal acts for criminals and gain sympathy from people."

"Isu-isu yang berkaitan dengan homoseksualitas telah banyak dibahas, contohnya meningkatnya representasi negatif homoseksual di media. Beberapa penelitian menganalisis umumnya homofobia yang berhubung dengan maskulinitas. Modern Family adalah serial TV Amerika yang menggambarkan homoseksualitas dan hubungannya dengan maskulinitas tradisional, yang direpresentasikan oleh salah satu karakter utamanya, Jay Pritchett. Dengan menggunakan konsep Kimmel 1994 tentang homofobia dalam cakupan yang lebih luas, penelitian ini menganalisis maskulinitas Jay, terutama dalam konteks norma maskulin, hubungan ayah-anak, dan kontribusinya terhadap perilaku homofobia melalui analisis tekstual. Several studies analyze homophobia commonly its relation to masculinity. Modern Family is an American TV series which portrays homosexuality and its relations with traditional masculinity, represented by one of the main characters, Jay Pritchett. Using Kimmel's 1994 concept about the broader range of homophobia, this study analyzes Jay's masculinity, particularly in the context of masculine norms, father son relationships, and their contributions toward his homophobic behaviors through textual analysis. Research findings reveal that Jay's masculine values influence the father son relationship in a problematic way as they contribute to his homophobic behaviors."

"Superhero narratives traditionally depict heroic figures upholding truth and justice to maintain world peace and human safety; The Boys offers a contrasting perspective, exploring the morally ambiguous nature of superheroes influenced by corporate entities and capitalist interests. Vought International is a fictional corporation that is depicted in The Boys, responsible for the control and exploitation of superheroes to achieve financial gain and influence. This study examines the strategies utilized by Vought International to manipulate the media to fulfill corporate advantages and protect its public reputation. The analysis explores deeper into the diverse types of media manipulation employed in superhero narratives, while also examining the critique of corporate control over these narratives. This study utilizes textual analysis method to examine how Vought International leverages media manipulation to cultivate public empathy, support, and profit by commodifying superheroes. It is found that media manipulation strategies employed to achieve Vought International's goals are disinformation, rhetorical devices, visual media manipulation, and suppression of information, including a strategy involving collaboration with the fictional US military, as depicted in The Boys, to consolidate their power.

Namun, The Boys menawarkan perspektif berbeda dengan mengeksplorasi ambiguitas moral superhero yang dipengaruhi oleh perusahaan korporat dan kepentingan kapitalis. Vought International, korporasi fiktif dalam The Boys, mengendalikan dan mengeksploitasi superhero demi keuntungan finansial dan pengaruh. Studi ini meneliti strategi yang digunakan Vought International dalam memanipulasi media untuk kepentingan perusahaan dan menjaga reputasi publiknya. Analisis ini mendalami berbagai jenis manipulasi media dalam narasi superhero, serta mengkaji kritik terhadap kontrol korporat atas narasi tersebut. Menggunakan analisis tekstual, studi ini mengungkap bagaimana Vought International memanfaatkan manipulasi media untuk menumbuhkan empati, dukungan, dan keuntungan publik dengan mengkomodifikasi superhero. Strategi manipulasi media yang digunakan untuk mencapai tujuan Vought International meliputi disinformasi, perangkat retoris, manipulasi media visual, dan penyembunyian informasi, termasuk strategi kolaborasi dengan militer AS fiktif dalam The Boys untuk mengukuhkan kekuasaan mereka."

"Isu kesehatan mental sering kali menjadi topik pembicaraan menarik. Stigma negatif sering melekat pada aspek-aspek kesehatan mental, seperti impostor syndrome, yang mencakup karakteristik mental yang berbeda. Dalam penelitian ini, karakteristik impostor syndrome dijelaskan melalui tokoh Ha Eunbyeol. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan karakteristik impostor syndrome melalui tokoh Ha Eunbyeol. Penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan menambah wawasan tentang kesehatan mental. Metode yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan menggunakan pendekatan psikologi sastra milik David Krech. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Ha Eunbyeol memiliki karakteristik impostor syndrome yang dibuktikan melalui klasifikasi emosi David Krech. Ha Eunbyeol menunjukkan sepuluh dari sembilan belas emosi berdasarkan klasifikasi emosi David Krech dan menunjukkan tujuh dari sembilan karakteristik impostor syndrome menurut Clance dan O’Toole.

The mental health issue is often an intriguing topic of discussion. Negative stigma is often attached to aspects of mental health, such as impostor syndrome, which encompasses different mental characteristics. Through the character Ha Eunbyeol in the drama "The Penthouse: War In Life" Season 1, the characteristics of impostor syndrome can be recognized and explained in this study. The purpose of this research is to illustrate the characteristics of impostor syndrome through the character Ha Eunbyeol. This study also aims to increase awareness and insight into mental health. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, employing David Krech's literary psychology approach. The research results show that Ha Eunbyeol exhibits impostor syndrome characteristics as evidenced by the classification of emotions by David Krech. Ha Eunbyeol displays ten out of nineteen emotions based on David Krech's emotion classification and exhibits seven out of nine impostor syndrome characteristics according to Clance and O'Toole."
