"Homoseksual bukanlah topik yang tabu lagi. Telah banyak novel yang mengangkat tema ini, contohnya Lelaki Terindah. Beberapa hal pada novel bertema homoseksual yang dapat dibahas adalah bagaimana tokoh memahami dirinya yang baru dan masalah yang berpusat pada kehidupan homoseksual dan lingkungannya. Tokoh yang diangkat adalah seorang heteroseksual yang kemudian berubah menjadi homoseksual tanpa disadarinya. Masyarakat Indonesia yang secara umum masih antipati dengan homoseksual dapat dillihat dari pembahasan novel Lelaki Terindah. Novel ini dapat dijadikan cerminan bagaimana masyarakat Indonesia memperlakukan kaum homoseksual di sekitarnya.

Homosexuality is not a taboo subject anymore. There have been many novels with homosexual as a main topic, for example Lelaki Terindah. Things on the homosexual-themed novel that can be discussed are such how the lead of this novel trying to understand his/her new self and the problems which centered on the homosexuals lifes including their environment. The main subject of this novel is a heterosexual who later turn out to be a homosexual without realizing it. The antipathy toward homosexuals which Indonesian society in general has can still be viewed from the discussion of this novel. This novel can be a reflection of how society in Indonesia treats homosexuals."

"Skripsi ini membahas karakter tokoh, khususnya faktor yang memengaruhi perubahan orientasi seksual pada tokoh gay, dan perbedaan cara pandang masyarakat Indonesia dengan Thailand terhadap kehadiran kaum gay yang terdapat di dalam novel Lelaki Terindah karya Andrei Aksana. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif dengan teknik analisis teks. Dari hasil penelitian ini diperoleh bahwa faktor terbesar yang dapat memengaruhi seseorang hingga dapat menjadi gay adalah melalui faktor lingkungan. Selain itu, diperoleh juga kesimpulan bahwa kaum gay lebih dapat diterima di Thailand daripada di Indonesia.

This undergraduate thesis analyzes figures character, especially factors influencing changes in sexual orientation in gay characters, and differences in perspective Indonesian and Thailand society to the presence of gays in Lelaki Terindah by Andrei Aksana. The method used in this research is descriptive method with text analysis. The result of this research found that the biggest factor affecting a person to be gay is through environmental factors. In addition, also found that the presences of gay in Thailand are more acceptable than in Indonesia."

"ABSTRAK Makalah ini membahas stereotip media dari pria homoseksual dan unsur heteroseksisme dalam film the Imitation Game. Sebagai film independen yang paling banyak ditonton pada tahun 2014, the Imitation Game adalah karya bertema homosexual seperti pendahulunya Will and Grace (1998-2006) dan Brokeback Mountain (2005). Penelitian menggunakan teori analisis tekstual oleh Alan McKee untuk membahas unsur mise-en-scene dan narasi. Ditemukan bahwa meskipun Alan Turing sebagai tokoh utama terlihat berlawanan dengan stereotip pria gay, beberapa ciri karakternya masih terikat kepada stereotip homoseksual di media - yaitu feminin, flamboyan, dan menjadi penjahat/ korban. Selain itu, unsur heteroseksisme yang terjadi di the Imitation Game adalah formula berulang yang juga terjadi pada Will dan Grace dan Brokeback Mountain. Walaupun komunitas LGBT telah diterima di masyarakat Amerika, media AS sendiri masih butuh waktu untuk benar-benar merepresentasikan homoseksualitas tanpa unsur hetero-normativitas.Makalah ini membahas stereotip media dari pria homoseksual dan unsur heteroseksisme dalam film the Imitation Game.
