"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan aspek yang berhubungan dengan naskah dan wacana dari khotbah yang berisi dorongan berjihad (khu ṭbah ḥathth lial-jihād) pada Perang Aceh abad XIX. Setidaknya ada 5 naskah yang berkategori ini. Naskah-naskah itu tersimpan di Perpustakaan Universitas Leiden (Cod. Or. 2269 1 [naskah A] dan 1a [C]) dan Perpustakaan Nasional Republik Indonesia (ML 465 [naskah B], ML 466 [naskah D] dan naskah ML 467). Namun, naskah ML 467 hingga kini belum bisa ditemukan. Naskah A dan B berbahasa Arab, sementara C dan D berbahasa Melayu-Aceh. Naskah yang dibuat edisi teksnya adalah naskah A, C dan D, sementara naskah B dijadikan sebagai pendukung naskah A. Metode edisi teks yang dipergunakan adalah metode edisi kritis. Teks hasil suntingan dikaji struktur wacana, fungsi wacana dan gaya bahasanya, untuk mengungkap konteks keagamaan dan konteks sejarah yang melingkupi khotbahkhotbah itu. Berdasarkan analisis naskah dan wacana, diketahui naskah yang berbahasa Arab dan yang berbahasa Melayu-Aceh memiliki hubungan baik isi maupun makna. Ada tiga isu penting yang dibicarakan oleh naskah-naskah itu: (1) pemahaman terkait jihād fī sabīl Allāh; (2) sikap orang Aceh dalam melawan agresi Belanda; (3) upaya pihak Aceh dalam mencari aliansi dengan sultan-sultan Kerajaan Turki Usmani sebagai kerajaan Islam terbesar saat itu.

The aim of research is to explain philological and discourse aspects of sermon to give spirit to the Aceh people in their fight against the Dutch (khu ṭbah ḥathth lial- jihād) in Aceh War at 19th century. There are 5 manuscripts in this category. The manuscripts are part of collection of the Library of the University of Leiden (Cod. Or. 2269 1 [A] and 1a [C]) and the National Library of Indonesia (ML 465 [B], ML 466 [D] and ML 467). But until now, ML 467 can?t found. A and B are Arabic, while C and D are Malay with Acehnese. The textual edition are based on A, C and D, while B is supporting evidence for A. Based on the characteristic of the manuscripts, the method of textual edition is critical edition method.

The text is approached with its discourse structure, discourse function and style for getting religious context and historical context in the sermons. According to philological and discourse analyses, there are some relations between Arabic sermons and Malay-Acehnese sermons in content and meaning. There are three important issues in the sermons: (1) understanding about jihād fī sabīl Allāh based on religious order; (2) Acehnese attitude in their fight againts Dutch aggression; (3) Acehnese effort for getting alliance with the Ottoman Sultans as a biggest Islamic kingdoms in the time."
