"ABSTRAKDalam skripsi ini dilakukan evaluasi otomasi di Perpustakaan UI. Lontar (LibraryOnline and Digital Archive) merupakan obyek penelitian dengan cakupan masalahpenelitian berupa penerapan serta kendala teknis. penelitian kualitatif denganmetode observasi dan studi kasus ini, mencakup evaluasi sistem otomasi yaitupada Modul Pengolahan, Modul Akses Katalog Online, dan Modul Sirkulasi, sertaModul Keanggotaan. Hasil evaluasi memperlihatkan bahwa 3 modul utama sistemLontar telah sesuai dengan standar sistem otomasi perpustakaan.

ABSTRACTThis thesis discuss about the evaluation of automation system in UI library.Lontar (Library Online and Digital Archive) is the research object with researchquestions that include descriptions of implementation and its problems. Thisqualitative research use observation and case study method to evaluate theautomation system on cataloging module; online catalog access module;circulation control module and description of membership module. Theconclusion is the three modules that Lontar system used are suitable with standardsystem of library automation."

"Skripsi ini membahas awal penggunaan komputer untuk perpustakaan di Indonesia, yang pertama kali dilaksanakan oleh PDII-LIPI pada 1971-1995 yang masih bergantung pada pemanfaatan Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi (TIK) sesuai perkembangan zaman. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Hasil dari penelitian ini menyarankan bahwa kesuksesan penggunaan komputer di PDII-LIPI untuk melaksanakan tugas dokumentasi terdiri dari aspek teknis yaitu perkembangan teknologi komputer itu sendiri dan aspek non teknis seperti perencanaan, kemampuan staf dan pola pikir, komunikasi, kebijakan, serta pendokumentasian sejarah.

This thesis discusses the early use of computers for libraries in Indonesia, which was first implemented by PDII-LIPI in 1971-1995 that still relies on the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in accordance with the times. This study is a qualitative research with case study method.

The results of this study suggest that the success of the use of computers in PDII-LIPI to carry out the task documentation consists of the technical aspects of the development of computer technology itself and the non-technical aspects such as planning, staff capabilities and mindset, communication, policies, and documenting history."
