Sumber daya manusia yang berkualitasdapat diperoleh melalui pendidikan yang baik dan berkualitas pula, terutamamelalui jalur pendidikan formal atau sekolah. Dusek (1996) menyatakan bahwasekolah sebagai salah satu lembaga pendidikan formal, memiliki tugas pokokuntuk membantu peserta didik agar memiliki pengetahuan, keterampilan dankeahlian yang dibutuhkan. Sekolah juga merupakan sarana anak untukbersosialisasi dengan teman sebayanya dan dengan orang dewasa selainanggota keluarganya.Karena peran sekolah yang besar serta lamanya waktu anak yangdihabiskannya di sekolah, maka hal ini menimbulkan pertanyaan mengenaibagaimana sesungguhnya seorang anak mempersepsikan keadaan sekolahnya.Persepsi siswa mengenai sekolahnya sendiri dapat diukur dengan menggunakanskala Quality of School Life. Pengukuran Quality of School Life dinilai sebagai halyang penting dan memiliki hubungan dengan prestasi akademik yang dicapaioleh siswa tersebut (Bourke, 1993; Mok & Flynn, 1997).Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran Quality of SchoolLife pada siswa dan siswi SMA co-educational dan gambaran Quality of SchoolLife pada siswa SMA non co-educational khusus laki-laki serta gambaran Qualityof School Life pada siswi SMA non co-educational khusus perempuan. Selain itu,peneliti juga ingin mengetahui apakah terdapat perbedaan antara gambaranQuality of School Life siswa dan siswi pada ketiga jenis SMA tersebut.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dan juga merupakanpenelitian kuantitatif. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa dan siswi dari SMA coeducational,SMA non co-educational khusus laki-laki dan SMA non coeducationalkhusus perempuan. Alat ukur yang digunakan dalam penelitian iniadalah skala Quality of School Life yang merupakan skala tipe Likert.Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa secara umum, siswa dari ketigajenis SMA yaitu SMA co-educational, SMA non co-educational khusus laki-lakidan SMA non co-educational khusus perempuan merasa sejahtera denganOuality of School Life di sekolah mereka masing-masing. Hasil penelitian jugamenunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada gambaranpersepsi Quality of School Life menurut persepsi siswa SMA co-educational, siswa SMA non co-educational khusus laki-laki dan siswi SMA non co-educational khusus perempuan."

"ABSTRACT

Compared to what exists for other countries publications on the demographic characteristics of the population of Indonesia are very scanty, based on out-dated material and not much knows to the outside world. Many studies were carried out based on the data provided by the 1930 Census, which gave however very vague information on the age distribution of the Indonesian population. The last census, held in 1961, which was programmed as a "modern" census and should show many improvement in presenting demographic data of the Indonesian population, stalled in the stage of tabulating and publishing the result, due to political and economic disturbances in the sixties which affected the normal continuation of the intended work.

The purpose of this study is to explore as for as possible the implications of the demographic characteristics of the Indonesia population for the labor force and the school-going population of the country in the years ahead, by using the hitherto published material of the last census and demographic survey. This implies that it will not cover all of the exceedingly complex aspects of the consequences of the population characteristic, but will try to explain the possible effects of population dynamics on the future development of certain limited sections of the Indonesia population only.

The study will be divided in the following parts:

1. Geography and census history of Indonesia in brief outline.

2. Some notes on the collection of demographic data in Indonesia.

3. A discussion of the age composition of the population in Indonesia.

4. Age at marriage in Indonesia.

5. Estimates of basic demographic parameters of the population in Indonesia as of about 1960.

6. Population projections for Indonesia and its regions, from 1961 to 2001.
