"Musik bisa menyampaikan makna dibalik liriknya jika didukung dengan pendekatan yang sesuai. Pendekatan intertesktualitas adalah salah satu pendekatan yang sesuai dikarenakan di dalam proses analisis, kita sebagai penganalisis dapat membuat keterkaitan antara lirik musik dengan lirik yang lain yang mana mempunyai kemiripan atau periode sejarah yang sama. Tujuan dari analisis ini adalah untuk mencari makna yang sesungguhnya dan keterkaitan antara lirik lagu Disturbed yang berjudul "Deify" dan "Sacred Lie" dengan era Bush yang kontroversial. Hasil dari analisisnya yaitu kedua lirik tersebut sukses berdiri sebagai kritikan dan protes terhadap Bush. Isu - isu yang dibicarakan di dalam kedua lirik ini adalah "Mesias", perang, kepalsuan, ketakutan, keberanian, dan rahasia. Semua isu tersebut merupakan inti dari kedua lirik lagu Disturbed.

Music can deliver meanings behind its lyrics if it is supported with appropriate approach. Intertextuality is the appropriate approach because in analysis process, we, as the analyzer can make connection between the music lyrics with other lyrics which have similarity or historical period. The purpose of this analysis is to find the real meaning and connection between Disturbed’s song lyrics which are Deify and Sacred Lie with the controversial Bush era. The result from the analysis of these two lyrics is both of these songs successfully stand as critic and protest toward Bush. Issues which are being discussed in these two lyrics are “Messiah”, war, falsehood, fear, bravery, and secrets. All these issues are the core of Disturbed’s lyrics."
