"Kemiskinan merupakan sebuah permasalahan sosial yang genting di Korea Selatan. Anak muda di Korea adalah salah satu kelompok masyarakat yang mengalami kemiskinan di negara ini. Akibat dari kemiskinan tersebut, muncul berbagai permasalahan yang dialami masyarakat. Salah satu cara untuk menyampaikan kondisi kemiskinan anak muda di Korea adalah dengan memanfaatkan sastra salah satunya adalah melalui film. Drama Korea adalah bagian dari film yang berbentuk film series dan disiarkan di Televisi. Oleh sebab itu, drama Korea merupakan media representasi. Drama Korea juga sering menampilkan realitas kehidupan di Korea. Dalam penelitian ini, akan menjelaskan bentuk-bentuk representasi kemiskinan anak muda di Korea dalam drama Korea berjudul “Golden Spoon”. Pembahasan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dan teori semiotika Ferdinand De Saussure. Dalam penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa kemiskinan pemuda Korea Selatan drama Golden Spoon yaitu mengalami kesulitan di ekonomi keluarga, relasi dengan teman, perundungan sekolah, dan tempat tinggal.

Poverty is critical social trouble in South Korea. One of the Korean people who suffer from poverty in this country is youth. The effect of this poverty is lot of problems which faced by people affected. One of the steps to shows the youth poverty condition in South Korea is using literature, one of which is through film. Korean drama is type of movie in the format of film series and airs on television. Hence, korean drama is representative appliance. Korean drama also generally convey the reality life in South Korea. This research will portray various kinds of representations of youth poverty in South Korea in the Korean drama named “Golden Spoon.” This study applies descriptive qualitative method and Ferdinand De Saussure’s semiotic theory for argument. The results of this study of Korean Youth Poverty in Golden Spoon drama are facing struggles in family economy, relationship with friend, school bullying and housing."

"Proyek Akhir ini menganalisis konsep representasi negosiasi muka dalam drama televisi Asia Timur. Di Asia Timur, “muka” memiliki posisi yang sangat penting ketika berkonflik. Jepang memiliki konsep mentsu, Korea Selatan memiliki konsep chemmyeon, dan Cina memiliki konsep mianzi. Secara garis besar, ketiga konsep “muka” dalam ketiga negara memiliki makna yang mengacu pada gambar diri seseorang di hadapan orang lain. Konsep tersebut kemudian direpresentasikan dalam drama televisi masing-masing negara. Drama televisi yang menjadi korpus penelitian ini adalah Hana Yori Dango (Jepang), Boys Over Flowers (Korea Selatan), dan Meteor Garden (Cina). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif analisis dengan menggunakan metode analisis semiotika. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh adalah meskipun ketiga negara di Asia Timur memiliki konsep “muka” yang sama, masing-masing negara memiliki cara dan budayanya sendiri dalam hal menjaga dan melindungi muka diri sendiri maupun lawan konflik yang ditandai dengan perbedaan pemilihan kata, ekspresi wajah, gaya bicara, dan intonasi bicara dari tokoh dalam ketiga drama televisi.

This Final Project analyzes the concept of face negotiation representation in East Asian television dramas. In East Asia, "face" has a crucial position during the conflict. Japan has the concept of mentsu, South Korea has the concept of chemmyeon, and China has the concept of mianzi. The three concepts of "face" in the three countries have meanings that refer to one's self-image in front of other people. This concept is then represented in the television dramas of each country. The television dramas that became the corpus of this research were Hana Yori Dango (Japan), Boys Over Flowers (South Korea), and Meteor Garden (China). This research is descriptive analysis research using the semiotic analysis method. The research results obtained are that although the three countries in East Asia have the same concept of "face," each country has its way and culture in terms of protecting and protecting the face of oneself and opponents of conflict, which is characterized by differences in word choice, facial expressions, style, speech, and intonation of the characters in the three television dramas.
