"Jurnalis dan media organisasinya bekerja untuk kepentingan khalayak. Kode Etik Jurnalistik, pasal 1 menyatakan, Wartawan Indonesia bersikap independen, menghasilkan berita yang akurat, berimbang, dan tidak beritikad butuk. Sedangkan jurnalis dan media kerap beralih fungsi menjadi partisan. Penelitian ini hendak melihat bagaimana pemaknaan reporter Metro TV mengenai profesionalisme jurnalis dan independensi Metro TV, dalam peliputan berita politik tahun 2014. Penelitian kualitatif ini menggunakan Teori Resepsi dari Stuart Hall dan konsep profesionalisme jurnalis. Analisis dilakukan dengan paradigma kritis dengan metode wawancara mendalam terhadap reporter Metro TV. Wawancara dilakukan terhadap empat informan yang dipilih secara acak menggunakan metode snowball. Temuan menunjukkan, tidak semua reporter dapat memaknai arti profesionalisme dan independensi jurnalisme.

This research will see how Metro TV's reporter in understanding about professionalism and independence of journalist, in political news gathering in 2014.

This qualitative research is using the reception theory by Stuart Hall and the concept of professionalism journalist. The researcher uses the critical paradigm. The interview were conducted to four sources person who were selected by snowball method. The results show that not all reporters can interpret the meaning of professionalism and independence of journalism."

"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membahas bagaimana kebutuhan dan perilaku jurnalis televisi dalam melakukan pencarian informasi sebagai materi utama dalam produksi berita. Metodologi penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara mendalam dan observasi pada 20 April sampai 30 Juni 2021. Informan dalam penelitian ini merupakan jurnalis yang bertugas sebagai produser program berita buletin dan non-buletin (magazine) di Metro TV. Kebutuhan dan perilaku informan dianalisis menggunakan model perilaku pencarian informasi berbasis kompleksitas tugas dari Byström dan Järvelin. Temuan dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan riset untuk membangun naskah berita beserta dukungan audio visual adalah faktor yang membedakan perilaku pencarian informasi jurnalis televisi dengan jurnalis lainnya. Penugasan dari redaksi mencakup tema dan format berita akan mempengaruhi kompleksitas tugas yang harus diselesaikan. Perilaku pencarian informasi berdasarkan kompleksitas tugas pada produser yang bertugas dalam program buletin dan non-buletin memiliki perbedaan yang cukup signifikan. Kesimpulannya adalah produser program berita berdasarkan kategori kompleksitas tugasnya adalah tugas keputusan normal dan tugas keputusan asli dengan pengetahuan; kebutuhan informasi diidentifikasi berdasarkan jenis berita dan format yang disajikan; sumber dan saluran informasi yang disadari pertama adalah sumber media online sebagai informasi awal untuk acuan membuat naskah; dan informasi dari sumber yang lebih kompleks dan beragam dapat menggunakan bantuan dari divisi riset dan library. Saran yang diajukan secara umum adalah pelatihan dan praktik di tempat kerja mengenai cara memanfaatkan sumber informasi tertentu secara efisien.

This study aims to discuss television journalists' needs and information searching behavior as the primary material in news production. The research methodology used is a qualitative method with a case study approach. In-depth interviews and observations carried out data collection from April 20 to June 30, 2021. The informants in this study were journalists who served as producers of bulletin and magazine news programs on Metro TV. The needs and behavior of the informants were analyzed using the task complexity-based information-seeking behavior model from Byström and Järvelin. The findings in this study indicate that research activities to build news scripts along with audio-visual support are factors that distinguish television journalists' information-seeking behavior from other journalists. The editor's assignment includes the theme and format of the news will affect the complexity of the task that must be completed. Information-seeking behavior based on task complexity among responsible producers in the bulletin and non-bulletin programs has a significant difference. The conclusion is news program producers based on the complexity category of the task are normal decision tasks, and in known, genuine decision tasks; information needs are identified based on the type of news and the format presented; the first recognized sources and channels of information are online media sources as initial information for reference in making scripts, and information from more complex and diverse sources can use assistance from the research and library divisions. Suggestions put forward, in general, are on-the-job training and practice on how to make efficient use of specific sources of information."
