"Two of the fastest growing sectors of communications today are mobile and Internet, both of which have had a profound effect on people's lives. "Terdapat beberapa teknologi yang digunakan dalam sistem wireless LAN, yaitu direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS), frequency hopping spread specfrum (FHSS), dan infra merah. Teknologi yang kini paling banyak digunakan adalah DSSS. Seperti komunikasi nirkabel lainnya, interferensi baik pada kanal yang sama (co-channel) maupun kanal bersebelahan (adjacent channel), adalah faktor yang sangat mempengaruhi unjuk kerja sistem didalam wireless LAN. Skripsi ini menganalisa pengaruh interferensi kanal sama dan kanal bersebelahan terhadap kecepatan transfer data.Dari data pengukuran secara empiris diperoleh hasil bahwa pada daerah cakupan yang sama, unjuk kerja kecepatan transfer data suatu wireless LAN akan menurun apabila terdapat interferer berupa wireless LAN lainnya yang bekerja pada kanal sama ataupun bersebelahan. Semakin jauh jarak antar kanal frekuensi yang digunakan oleh dua buah jaringan nirkabel, maka kecepatan transfer data akan semakin mendekati kecepatan tanpa adanya interferer."
