"This book has already proved itself as a course adoption leader in Childhood Studies. All of the strengths of the First Edition have been retained. The book is comprehensive and judged with the needs of students in mind. It is a model of clarity and precision and has been acknowledged as such in reviews and course feedback.
The new edition thoroughly revises old entries and adds new ones. The book is the most accessible, relevant student introduction to this expanding, interdisciplinary field. "

Although Indonesia has not ratified the Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees, also known as the 1951 Refugee Convention, Indonesia is one of the transit countries for refugees. Refugees in Indonesia are the responsibility of UNHCR because the Indonesian government is not obliged to meet their needs. These stateless refugees encounter the problem of long time obscurity and scarcity of resources before being placed into their destination country. This situation is feared to affect the psychosocial development of refugee children. This study discusses about identity formation of refugee children in a difficult situation and what contributes to it.
This study uses Child Safeguarding and Promoting Welfare Framework. This study uses qualitative approach with descriptive research with 15 informants 5 refugee children, 5 teachers, and 5 family of the refugee children. Result of this study shows that in order to form the identity even amidst the most difficult situation, if there is support and interaction from family and environment, children will not suffer from identity confusion.

ABSTRACT
Children in Indonesia tend to have low levels of objective well-being, but attractive subjective well-being of Indonesian children is quite high. A number of previous studies have found that socioeconomic and family structures are factors that contribute to the high level of subjective well-being of children. To enrich previous studies, researchers used other factors to explain the high level of subjective well-being of children, namely social support from parents, teachers, and friends. In this study, gender and school level were used as control variables in seeing the relationship between social support and children's subjective well-being. This research was conducted using a survey of 340 children from SMP Negeri 2 and SMA Negeri 3 Depok selected through multistage stratified random sampling. The results show that children have a high level of subjective well-being and social support. Social support from parents, teachers and friends is positively correlated with children's subjective well-being. Furthermore, the results show that gender influences the relationship between social support and subjective well-being of children with the elaboration model of the specification pattern, while the school level influences the relationship between the two variables with the elaboration model of the explanation pattern."

"The book presents an interdisciplinary approach to the study of young childrens flourishing. Scholars from anthropology, education, intervention, and clinical and developmental psychology discuss child well-being. Like research within psychology generally, developmental psychology has spent more of its attention on pathology and on environments that challenge development. With the help of anthropological description, we hope to add to the movement to shift perspectives toward flourishing-describing its characteristics and varied approaches to supporting it. The book uses an evolutionary framing and provides cutting-edge knowledge about specific parenting practices and their relation to thriving. The book examines initial foundations for the broad landscape of young child flourishing, addresses parenting and family cultural contexts, which includes the attitudes and expectations that surround the child from conception and beyond. Contributors address contexts of conflict, community contexts beyond the family such as group care settings and early schooling, and the broader contexts for young child flourishing, suggesting policies, programs, and practices that enable thriving. Only by understanding the practices and contexts for optimal child development can comparative guidelines for prevention and interventions be established, problems be accurately analyzed, and effective solutions be tested."
