"Using the river basin environment as the point of departure the argument in this paper is that proper planning of complex nonurban environment requires not only a wealth of information but also a properly organized information set and system. The paper reviews the need for land resource concern in this context, the state of development in land use and natural resource information systems. On the basis of this, design considerations for information designable systems are presented."
