"ABSTRAKSkripsi ini merupakan penelitian mengenai penggunaan pelanggaran maksimpercakapan sebagai strategi dalam menghasilkan humor verbal dalam sketsa komediLittle Britain. Dengan menampilkan parodi dari orang-orang dari berbagai lapisanmasyarakat di Britania, serta mengambil latar belakang sejumlah wilayah di Britania,sketsa komedi ini menghadirkan serangkaian kelucuan lewat komunikasi verbalmaupun non verbal. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dan kuantitaifdengan menggunakan gabungan dua teori yakni antara teori linguistik, yakni teoripragmatik maksim percakapan dan implikatur percakapan, serta teori psikologihumor berupa teori keganjilan-resolusi (the incongruity-resolution theory). Tujuanpenulisan skripsi ini untuk menunjukkan bahwa dalam humor, khususnya humorverbal, pelanggaran kaidah berbahasa, yakni berupa pelanggaran maksim percakapan,berakibat pada keganjilan yang pada akhirnya dapat menghasilkan efek humor dalamhumor verbal. Namun, tidak berarti bahwa keganjilan yang dihasilkan olehpelanggaran maksim percakapan tersebut membuat humor tersebut tidak memilikimakna, sebaliknya, kita dapat menangkap makna dari keganjilan dalam humor verbaltersebut seraya menikmatinya dengan suka cita. Hasil penelitian diharapkan dapatmemberikan kontribusi dalam kajian humor dengan melihat bagaimana maksimpercakapan menjadi strategi dalam menghasilkan humor verbal.

AbstractThis study is conducted to highlight the use of violating conversational maxims asa strategy in generating verbal humor in Little Britain, a British character-basedcomedy sketch.Through featuring a parody of British people and taking thebackground of some areas in Britain, this comedy sketch presents humour throughboth verbal and non-verbal forms of communication. This study used qualitativeand quantitative methods using pragmatics theory, namely conversational maximand implicature, as the main theory and incongruity-resolution theory as thesupporting theory. The purpose of this study is to show that the violation ofconversational maxims in a verbal interaction could cause an incongruity and thusresult in humor effect through verbal interaction. However, it doesnot mean that the humor itself does not convey any message. The message can bereceived as well as we enjoy this comedy sketch. This study is expected to be acontribution in seeing how violating the conversational maxim can be a strategy togenerate verbal humor."

"ABSTRAKPenggunaan bahasa untuk menyampaikan sesuatu yang kasar merupakan hal yang lazim saat ini, bahkan bagi remaja. Fenomena ini sudah ditampilkan dalam banyak film, seperti The Edge of Seventeen 2016 . The Edge of Seventeen 2016 adalah sebuah film komedi-drama tentang perjuangan Nadine, tokoh utama, dalam tumbuh dewasa, terutama ketika dia merasa tidak ada siapa-siapa di sisinya. Penelitian ini berfokus pada bagaimana Nadine mengutarakan kekasaran melalui penggunaan bahasanya dalam percakapan. Percakapan tersebut dianalisis menggunakan model ketidaksantunan Culpeper, maksim percakapan Grice, dan teori tindak tutur Austin. Data dianalisis untuk menentukan strategi dan maksim yang digunakan, serta tindak tuturnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana strategi ketidaksantunan dan maksim digunakan, dan tujuannya dalam ujaran tertentu. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada makna yang tersembunyi dan tujuan dari ujaran yang menggunakan strategi ketidaksantunan dan melanggar maksim pada konteks tertentu. Dengan menganalisis percakapan-percakapan tersebut, terbukti bahwa kekasaran dalam bahasa bukan hanya sekedar kekasaran, tetapi juga mempunyai makna tersembunyi dan tujuan dalam setiap konteks.

ABSTRACTNowadays, using language to utter rudeness is prevalent, even for teenagers. This phenomenon has been included into many films, such is The Edge of Seventeen 2016 . The Edge of Seventeen 2016 is a coming of age comedy drama film about the struggle of growing up for Nadine, the main character, especially when she feels that there is no one on her side. This study focuses on how Nadine utters the rudeness through her language. Her utterances are analyzed with Culpeper rsquo s impoliteness model, Grice rsquo s conversational maxims, and Austin rsquo s speech act. The data are analyzed by determining the strategy and maxims used and the speech acts behind them. This study aims to determine to what extent the impoliteness strategy and the conversational maxims are used as well as their purpose in certain utterances. The findings of the study show that there are underlying meanings and purposes to the utterances which use the impoliteness strategy and flout the conversational maxims in certain context. By analyzing the conversations, it is evident that the rudeness in the language is not merely rudeness, but it rather has underlying meanings and purposes in each context. "

"Dalam melakukan interaksi, penutur memiliki tujuan tertentu. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, penutur terkadang mengucapkan tuturan yang tidak sesuai dengan prinsip kerja sama, sehingga penutur melakukan pelanggaran bidal percakapan. Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah pelanggaran bidal percakapan yang sengaja (Flouting the Maxims) dilakukan oleh kedua tokoh utama (Harold dan Kumar), sehingga menimbulkan variasi tujuan dari pelanggaran tersebut. Penelitian ini menganalisis percakapan dalam film Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan alasan melakukan pelanggaran bidal dalam percakapan, mengungkapkan tujuan dan implikasi dari pelanggaran bidal, dan mengetahui hubungan antara konteks dan pelanggaran bidal. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dan bersifat deskriptif karena sumber data analisis merupakan percakapan yang digambarkan dengan kata-kata atau kalimat. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui teknik pengamatan dan pencatatan. Data dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 31 penggalan percakapan. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan teori Grice (1975) yaitu prinsip kerja sama bidal percakapan dengan menjelaskan konteks dan pelanggaran bidal.Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini ditemukan 47 pelanggaran bidal. Kemudian, variasi tujuan yang ditemukan dari pelanggaran bidal percakapan dikelompokkan ke dalam 5 kategori yaitu Ekspresif seperti menyenangkan hati, lelucon atau gurauan, menghibur, menenangkan, meminta maaf, menjaga perasaaan, dan mengutarakan sesuatu, Komisif seperti memendam kekesalan, menghindari bahaya, melindungi, menjaga reputasi, dan menyembunyikan, Representatif seperti meminta bantuan, menyatakan putus asa, menolak, meyakinkan, menghindari amarah, dan menunjukkan, Direktif seperti memberitahukan, menyatakan kejujuran, menyatakan keberanian, meminta penjelasan, menyelamatkan diri, menegaskan, memprediksi, dan meminta klarifikasi, dan Indirektif seperti mengabaikan dan mengalihkan pembicaraan. Korelasi yang muncul antara konteks dan pelanggaran bidal adalah sebab-akibat.

In a conversation, speakers have a certain purpose. To achieve the purpose, they sometimes intentionally flout the maxims by saying something unmatched with the topic of the conversation. This is called flouting the maxims in Co-operative Principle concept. The problem of this research is flouting the maxims deliberately to achieve the purpose of the conversation by analyzing the context and the flouts of the maxims. This research analyzes utterances on the movie Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle.This research aims to find out flout of the maxims on the movie, reveal the implication and the purpose of flouting the maxims, and know the correlation between context and flouting the maxims. This is a qualitative and descriptive research because the data and the result of the research are not presented in forms of numbers or statistic. Moreover, the source of data analysis is conversation explained in words or sentences form. Observing and note taking are the methods in collecting the data. The data in this research are 31 conversations and each of the conversation is supported by its context. Theory used in this research is Co-operative Principle, Implicature, and Conversational Maxims introduced by Grice (1975).By analyzing the situation and flouting the maxims, the writer found 47 violations. The writer also concludes there are variations of purposes found in this research which are classified into 5 categories. First is Expressive such as to please someone, joking, entertain, calm someone down, apologize, save face, and say something. Second is co missive such as to hide a fact, prevent, protect, and keep reputation. Third is Representative such as to ask for help, desperation, refuse, convince, and show something. Fourth is Directive such as to inform, be honest, express braveness, and clarifying. Fifth is Indirect such as to ignore and shift a talk. From these results, it concludes that speakers flout the maxims to achieve a purpose in a conversation. The correlation between context and flouts of the maxims is cause-effect relation."

"Sebagai makhluk sosial, kita tidak dapat dipisahkan dari komunikasi dan interaksi sosial dengan orang lain. Seperti yang telah kita ketahui, untuk berinteraksi dan berkomunikasi dengan orang lain, kita membutuhkan bahasa. Bahasa merupakan elemen penting dalam berkomunikasi dan berinteraksi. Sebagai alat komunikasi dalam interaksi sosial, bahasa juga berperan penting dalam menjaga hubungan sosial di antara pemakainya. Dalam berkomunikasi, terdapat prinsip-prinsip kerjasama yang mengatur kita dalam berkomunikasi. Prinsip-prinsip kerjasama tersebut terdiri dari beberapa maksim. Namun, dalam prosesnya, kita seringkali melanggar maksim-maksim tersebut dengan tujuan sebagai strategi menarik perhatian kawan bicara. Dalam film Madagascar 3: Europe‟s Most Wanted terdapat banyak pelanggaran maksim sebagai strategi persuasi. Dengan menggunakan teori implikatur percakapan, teori retorik, dan teori-teori lain, seperti teori kesantunan, teori co-active persuasion, dan teori relasi kuasa, akan membantu untuk menganalisis pelanggaran maksim sebagai strategi persuasi. Temuan dari penelitian ini adalah pelanggaran maksim dapat digunakan sebagai strategi persuasi.

As social beings, we cannot be separated from social interaction and communication. We need to interact and communicate with other people. As we all know, to communicate and interact with other people, of course, we need a language. Language is foremost a means of communication and interaction. As a communication tool in social interaction, language is also important in keeping a good social relation among language users. There are cooperative principles which control us in the way we communicate with others. The cooperative principles contain some maxims. Yet, in the middle of conversation, we usually flout or violate the maxims in order to attract the hearers. In the movie Madagascar 3: Europe‟s Most Wanted, there are so many flout of maxims or exploit of maxims which is done by Alex, Marty, Melman, and Gloria as a persuasion strategy. By using conversational implicature theory, rhetoric theory, and some theories like politeness theory, co-active persuasion theory, and power relation theory will help to analyze this research on the use of flouting maxims and violating maxims as persuasion or rhetoric strategy. The finding of this research is that flout of maxims or exploit of maxims can be used as persuasion strategy."

"Isu sistem pemerintah yang Totaliter di Inggris selama bertahun-tahun diadaptasi dalam film V for Vendetta (2005). Cara kepemimpinan yang ketat seperti membuat kebijakan yang hanya memihak pemerintah adalah cara bagaimana sistem pemerintah totaliter mengontrol dan mengatur pihak masyarakat yang bertujuan untuk menciptakan kondisi negara yang teratur. Kuasa pihak pemerintah yang totaliter sudah merenggut kebebasan yang dimiliki oleh pihak masyarakat. Akibat penindasan kepada pihak masyarakat, pemberontakan pun terjadi, dan film ini memperlihatkan bahwa pihak masyarakat juga dapat menggunakan kuasa mereka untuk meruntuhkan dan mendominasi pihak pemerintah. Jadi, terdapat pergeseran kuasa dari pihak pemerintah ke pihak masyarakat. V for Vendetta adalah film yang memperlihatkan bahwa pihak masyarakat yang lemah dapat melawan balik pihak pemerintah yang kuat dengan membunuh beberapa aparat pemerintah dan juga properti-properti pemerintah. Dengan menggunakan teori Michel Foucault tentang relasi kuasa, penelitian ini menampilkan bagaimana film V for Vendetta mengilustrasikan pihak masyarakat yang memulai pemberontakan kepada pihak pemerintah dari satu tokoh yaitu V hingga mencakup seluruh pihak masyarakat di Inggris. Melalui penelitian ini, peneliti akan menampilkan bahwa kuasa tidak hanya dimiliki oleh pihak yang kuat, tetapi kuasa juga dapat dimiliki oleh pihak yang lemah.

The issue of totalitarian government as depicted in the movie V for Vendetta (2005) was shown to have existed in Britain for years. Leading strictly and making several regulations arbitrarily were the ways of the totalitarian government to control and regulate the society in order to create a like-minded country. The power of the totalitarian government had snatched the identity and freedom of the society. Due to the oppression to the society in Britain, resistance occurred, and the movie shows that the society can also use their power to overthrow the totalitarian government. Thus, there was a shift of power from the totalitarian government to the society. V for Vendetta is the movie which shows that the powerless society can also fight back a powerful government by killing several governments’ people and also its properties. Using Michel Foucault’s theory of power relation, the paper shows how the movie V for Vendetta illustrates how the society begins the rebellion toward the government from one person whom V until whole of the society in Britain. Through this research, I will show that power is not always owned by the powerful party, but it can also be owned by the powerless party."

"Percakapan antara seseorang atau lebih merupakan hal yang sering terjadi dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Implikatur atau pengimplikasian sebuah kalimat berkaitan dalam penyampaian pesan yang dilakukan oleh seseorang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis implikatur percakapan dan prinsip kerja sama dalam film Solino dengan menggunakan teori implikatur percakapan dari Paul Grice. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan studi pustaka. Selain itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat perbedaan atau pelanggaran dalam prinsip kerja sama. Berdasarkan delapan percakapan antara orang tua dan anak dalam film Solino, terdapat pelanggaran prinsip kerja sama, sehingga komunikasi tidak berjalan dengan baik.

Conversation between people is something that frequently happens in everyday life. Implicature or the implication of a sentence relates on how a message is being delivered by someone. This research aims to analyze conversational implicature and the cooperative principle in Solino, a film by Fatih Akin using Paul Grice s theory. The method used in this research is qualitative approach with literature review. In addition, this research also aims to see the differences or violations in the cooperative principle. According to eight conversations between parents and their children in Solino, there are eight violations of Cooperative Principle, therefore the communication between the two of them didnt go well."

"ABSTRAKPenelitian ini membahas tentang pelanggaran dalam Prinsip Sopan Santun (Leech, 1993) di dalam dongeng Aschenputtel karya Grimm bersaudara. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif analisis dengan teknik kajian pustaka. Manusia sering menggunakan pelanggaran maksim agar mencapai tujuan yang diinginkannya. Karakter-karakter pada dongeng Aschenputtel menggunakan pelanggaran maksim sopan santun untuk mencapai tujuannya. Pelanggaran maksim sopan santun yang dilakukan oleh tokoh-tokoh pada dongeng ini adalah pelanggaran maksim kearifan, pelanggaran maksim pujian, dan pelanggaran maksim kesepakatan.

This journal uses descriptive analysis method with literature review technique. People often use maxim violation in order to achieve certain goals. Characters in Cinderella story use maxim violation in order to attain those goals. Violations of politeness maxim conducted by figures in this story are violations of tact, approbation and agreement maxim."

"ABSTRAKMakalah ini merupakan studi mengenai percakapan antara guru dan murid dalam film Dead Poets Society 1989 . Analisis dalam makalah ini menggunakan teori Speech Act dari Austin yang terdiri dari locutionary, illocutionary, dan perlocutionary untuk melihat bagaimana strategi guru dalam membuat suatu kalimat imparatif. Penelitian sebelumnya banyak membahas mengenai metode proses pembelajaran dalam film tersebut. Makalah ini berusaha untuk mencari tahu strategi percakapan yang berhasil dilakukan antara guru dan siswa melalui tindak tutur yang dilakukan oleh guru. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tindakan illocutionary dalam tindak tutur merupakan yang paling banyak digunakan dalam percakapan antara guru dan murid. AbstractThis paper conducts a research about the conversational analysis between the teacher and students in the film Dead Poets Society 1989 . The analysis uses Austin rsquo;s theory of Speech Act which are locutionary, illocutionary, and perlocutionary acts in order to see how the teacher makes the imperative sentences. The previous researches mainly discuss about the method of the learning process. This paper seeks to answer the strategy of successful conversation between the teacher and students in the film through speech act. The finding shows that illocutionary act in the speech act is mainly used in the conversation. As a result, it creates an effective learning situation through the communication that is built in the learning process between the teacher and the students in the classroom.Keywords: Austin rsquo;s speech act; Conversational analysis; Dead Poets Society; Learning Process "
