"ABSTRAKFenomena penerapan perkembangan teknologi komunikasi dan informasi pada industri pariwisata telah merubah cara pelaku perjalanan pariwisata dalam memanfaatkan informasi disepanjang proses pengambilan keputusan berpariwisatanya. Hal ini terutama terkait dengan munculnya media sosial sebagai salah satu platform web 2.0 yang menyuguhkan interaktifitas kepada penggunanya. Karena itulah, tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memperoleh gambaran mengenai proses pengambilan keputusan berpariwisata melalui penggunaan media sosial khususnya dari sudut pandang anggota komunitas traveler di Indonesia. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, disusun kajian teoritis dan penelitian terdahulu yang berpijak pada teori-teori yang berada dalam ranah Ilmu Komunikasi, khususnya teori komunikasi kelompok dan teori media baru. Sedangkan aplikasinya berfokus pada perkembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi yang telah merevolusi dunia perdagangan (bisnis) secara luas. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan melakukan wawancara terhadap anggota komunitas traveler ?Backpacker Indonesia? yang terpilih berdasarkan hasil analisis teks terhadap komunikasi dan interaksi yang dilakukan dalam situs komunitas. Hasil utama dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa media sosial menjadi sumber informasi yang membantu dan ?mengawal? para traveler disetiap tahapan pengambilan keputusannya, dan pada setiap tahapan tersebut para traveler melakukan kegiatan-kegiatan pemanfaatan informasi dalam menjalankan keseluruhan kegiatan berpariwisata yang dilakukan. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan beberapa rekomendasi baik bagi lingkup akademik dan teoretik yaitu melalui penyusunan model pengambilan keputusan berpariwisata melalui penggunaan media sosial, serta bagi industri pariwisata untuk menjalankan strategi pemasaran yang lebih berfokus pada konsumen.

ABSTRACTThe phenomenon about the application of Information and Communications Technology development in tourism industry has changed the way of traveler in utilizing tourism information throughout their travel decision-making process. It is mainly associated with the emergence of social media as one of the Web 2.0 platform which offers interactivity to users. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to obtain an overview of the travel decision making process through the use of social media especially from the point of view of Indonesia's traveler community members. To achieve these objectives, theoretical study and previous studies which are grounded in the Communication Sciences domain, specifically the Theory of Group Communication and New Media Theory were developed. While the application is focused on the development of Information and Communication Technology that has revolutionized the world of commerce (business) widely. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Data was collected through interviews with community members traveler "Backpacker Indonesia" were chosen based on the results of the text-analysis of the communication and interaction done in community sites. The main result of this study shows that social media as source of information to help and "escort" the traveler in every stage of decision-making, and at each step the traveler is using information in carrying out all activities undertaken. The study concluded some recommendations for the scope of academics and theoretical with the models of travel decision making process through the use of social media, as well as for the tourism industry to execute marketing strategies that more focus on the consumer."

"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh tiga (3) variabel sosialdemografis dan sosial-ekonomi yaitu gender, tingkat pendapatan dan tingkat pendidikan terhadap motivasi wisata turis muda di Jabodetabek. Variabel-variabel motivasi wisata yang digunakan sebagai variabel dependen antara lain motivasi budaya, motivasi fisiologis, motivasi sosial-pribadi dan motivasi fantasi/imajinasi. Data penelitian merupakan gabungan data sekunder dari jurnal-jurnal pariwisata dan data primer yang diperoleh langsung dari responden penelitian menggunakan kuesioner. Model penelitan ini menggunakan metode Independent Sample T-test dan One Way ANOVA dimana hasil pengolahan data menunjukkan bahwa dari ketiga variabel yang diteliti hanya variabel gender yang memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap motivasi wisata turis muda di Jabodetabek.This study aimed to analyze the influence of three (3) socio-demographic variables and socio-economic namely gender, income level and education level of the youth traveler?s travel motivation in Greater Jakarta. Travel motivation variables are used as the dependent variable, among others, cultural motivation, physiological motivation, social and personal motivation and fantasy / imagination motivation. The research data is a combination of secondary data from the journals of tourism and primary data collected directly from the survey respondents using a questionnaire. This research models using Independent Sample T-test and One Way ANOVA methods where data processing results show that of the three variables were examined only gender variable which has a significant influence on the travel motivation of youth traveler in Greater Jakarta."

"Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana proses pembentukan Calculus based Trust (CBT), Knowledge based Trust (KBT), Identification based Trust (IBT) sebagai Initial Trust dan Subsequent Trust dalam Komunitas Virtual sesuai dengan model pembentukan trust yang diajukan oleh Gwebu, Wang dan Troutt. Penelitian menggunakan Paradigma Postpositivisme dengan metode Netnografi pada Komunitas Virtual 'Backpacker Indonesia'. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan proses pembentukan CBT, KBT, dan IBT sebagai Initial Trust terbentuk dari sumber-sumber yang sudah tersedia dalam komunitas virtual. Sedangkan pada fase Subsequent Trust, prosesnya dari interaksi dan komunikasi anggota dalam forum komunitas virtual. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model pembentukan trust dalam organisasi virtual yang dikonsepkan oleh Gwebu, Wang dan Troutt (2007) juga dapat digunakan untuk menjelaskan proses pembentukan trust dalam komunitas virtual.

The Objective of the research is to understand how Calculus based Trust (CBT), Knowledge based Trust (KBT), Identification based Trust (IBT) as Initial Trust and Subsequent Trust is built in virtual community, based on the model of trust building, which is conceived by Gwebu, Wang dan Troutt. The research observed virtual community 'Backpacker Indonesia' in Netnography Method and Postpositivism Paradigm.

The result shows that the CBT, KBT, and IBT building processes as Initial Trust is formed from available sources in virtual community. While in Subsequent Trust phase is built from interaction and communication between members in virtual community. The research shows that Gwebu, Wang dan Troutt‟s model of trust building in virtual organization is also possible to explain the trust building process in virtual community."

Tesis ini membahas benturan nilai dan identitas kosmopolitan oleh muslimah penulis dalam Berjalan di Atas Cahaya dan The Jilbab Traveler dengan tujuan memaparkan cara para tokoh muslimah traveler menyikapi benturan nilai budaya dan agama dalam perjalanan serta menjelaskan proses konstruksi pandangan kosmopolitanisme Islam. Penelitian kualitatif ini menggunakan perspektif gender, yang dihubungkan dengan teori catatan perjalanan Carl Thompson dan zona-zona kosmopolitan Terhi Rantanen. Konstruksi muslimah kosmopolitan dalam ranah publik dan global dibangun melalui perkembangan pola pikir dan sikap tokoh, sudut pandang, nada dalam catatan perjalanan.

ABSTRACTTraveling is a way to observe and understand the diversity of culture and religion. This research is about the conflict of values and cosmopolitan identity by muslim women authors in Berjalan di Atas Cahaya and The Jilbab Traveler with the aim of describing how muslim women travelers figure out and address the conflict of culture and religion values, and explaining the construction of Islamic cosmopolitanism by prominent muslim women travelers. This qualitative research uses gender perspective that related to Carl Thompson rsquo s travel writing theory and Terhi Rantenan rsquo s zones of cosmopolitanism.
