"Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mendapatkan jawaban atas pertanyaan, apakah rekomendasi saham yang diterbitkan oleh harian Kontan melalui rubrik REKOMENDASI berdampak terhadap harga saham di pasar modal. Dampak tersebut dilihat dari tiga sisi waktu, yakni sebelum, pada hari yang publikasi, dan hari-hari setelah rekomendasi saham di harian Kontan diterbitkan. Disamping itu, peneliti juga meneropong dampak rekomendasi saham di harian Kontan berdasarkan jenis rekomendasinya, yakni beli, jual, tahan, serta rekomendasi kombinasi, yakni beli-jual dan beli-tahan. Atas dasar itu, penelitian dilakukan dengan berbasiskan pada studi peristiwa (event study). Adapun untuk menggali ada atau tidaknya dampak rekomendasi saham di harian Kontan terhadap harga saham di Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI), wahana yang digunakan adalah abnormal return. Adanya abnormal return di hari-hari menjelang, di saat, dan setelah rekomendasi saham harian Kontan diterbitkan merupakan alat uji yang tepat untuk menentukan dampak rekomendasi tersebut. Hasil penelitian mengindikasikan adanya dampak rekomendasi saham yang dipublikasikan harian Kontan dengan pergerakan harga di BEI. Namun, khusus untuk rekomendasi beli diketahui tidak terjadi kinerja yang abnormal pada return saham berdasarkan hasil pengolahan datanya, berbeda dengan rekomendasi jual, tahan, dan kombinasi.

The purpose of this research is exploring and examining stock recomendation impact on stock price movement at Indonesia Stock Exchange, Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI). This study is using stock recomendation from a column on Kontan daily newspaper, named REKOMENDASI. Each recomendation produce by analysts from many investment advisory agencies in Jakarta. The effect of stock recomendation has divided by three time corridors, which is before, at the day, and after Kontan recomendation were published. This study have also explored the impact of Kontan recomendation on each kind of recomendation, such as buy, sell, hold, or combination recomendation of buy-sell and buy-hold. This study conducted by event study as the model. Therefore, a tools that precisely right to build argument for this study is abnormal return of the stock which was recommended by Kontan column. The result of this study indicate that the REKOMENDASI column appears to have an impact on stock price on the publication day. However, for buy recomendation there was a situation of no abnormal performance on the publication day."
