"Telah lama diketahui bahwa hierarki kebutuhan Maslow merupakan bagian penting dalam memahami perilaku manusia melalui perspektif psikologi. Teori ini berlaku untuk beberapa fungsi, seperti pemahaman motivasi manusia, pelatihan manajemen, dan pengembangan pribadi. Film Cemetery Junction, sebuah film yang ditulis dan disutradarai oleh Ricky Gervais dan Stephen Merchant merupakan salah satu contoh yang tepat dalam menunjukkan teori Maslow tersebut. Terdapat dua poin utama yang akan dibahas pada makalah ini. Pertama, motivasi manusia sebagai esensi dalam kehidupan manusia yang memicu manusia untuk memenuhi kebutuhan mereka, dan juga sebagai salah satu tema utama dari film. Kedua, bahwa karakter utama di film Cemetery Junction mewakili setiap tingkat hirarki untuk mencapai setiap hasrat dan keinginan mereka melalui perbaikan diri dan sosial. Dengan menggunakan teori motivasi manusia dan hierarki kebutuhan milik Abraham Maslow, makalah ini bertujuan untuk menunjukkan hubungan antara hierarki Maslow dengan kebahagiaan manusia, sukacita, dan pemenuhan diri.

It has long been known that Maslow’s hierarchy of needs represents a significant part in understanding human behavior through the perspective of psychology. The theory remains valid for several functions, such as understanding human motivation, management training, and personal development. The movie Cemetery Junction, written and directed by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, precisely exemplifies the Maslow’s theory. There are two major points that this paper attempts to make. First, that ‘human motivation’ is believed to be the essence in human life that triggers humans to fulfill their needs, and also as one of the major themes of the movie. Second, that the main characters in Cemetery Junction represent each level of the hierarchy in order to reach their desires through self and social improvements. Using the human motivation and the theory of hierarchy of needs by Abraham Maslow, the paper aims to show the relation between Maslow’s hierarchy and human happiness, joy, and fulfillment."
