"Cooler smarter shows you how to cut your own global warming emissions by twenty percent or more. It offers science-based strategies to cut carbon, including chapters on transportation, home energy use, diet, personal consumption, as well as how best to influence your workplace, your community, and elected officials."

"It is well known that the extensive emission of greenhouse gases(GHG) such as
CO2 gas and freon gas during a long period up to the present society after the industri-
al revolution in the 18th century is a fundamental reason causing the global warming
and the climate change on our globe as reported in a lot of references”. In such a cir-
cumstance, the average temperature during an entire year at the surface of the globe
has been elevated about ldeg.C comparing the corresponding temperature at the in-
dustrial revolution. Thus, mitigation or reduction of the global warming is one of the
most important subject to keep the continuous development of human beings.
On the other hand, drying up of energy resources as fossil fuels is another serious
problem to realize the sustainable development of our industrial society and our daily
lives. Nuclear power would be a clean energy, since the fossil fuel is not used and CO2
gas is not emitted during the generation of the power. "

"In recent years, as a supplement for conventional large-scale power generation system,
gas distributed generation has got much comprehensive attention. This study reviews the cur-
rent status, incentive policies and barriers of gas distributed generation in Shanghai. Currently,
the gas distributed energy development in Shanghai is facing grim situations: on the one hand,
most of the prime movers are imported from abroad with relaitvely high initial cost, and the
natural gas price increases gradually, which lead to the poor economic performance; on the
other hand, the relevant institution, mechanism and policy frameworks are imperfect, making
gas distributed energy system difficult to fully enjoy its energy saving advantages. However,
considering the huge market potential in Shanghai and successful experiences in some foreign
countries, it is believed that gas distributed generation will be paid more and more attention,
and support the low-carbon transition of the electric power industry in Shanghai."

"To solve the global climate change problem, countries require more than efforts at local
level: multilateral cooperation and climate policy integration are essential for realizing a
wide-area low-carbon society. Realizing a low-carbon society is not a simple action that addresses global warming while ignoring the quality of human life, but is a process to achieve
harmonious sustainable development of economy, environment and society while solving the
problem of global warming simultaneously. According to the principle of “Common but Differentiated Responsibilities", China should stick to the consistent pathway towards emission reduction. Energy saving, followed by fuel transformation and renewable energy utilization, is the most efficient technology China will promote to achieve the emission reduction, In addition, Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technologies will play an important role after 2050. China's CO2 emissions are likely to peak around 2040 (550pprn) or even earlier in about 2030 (450ppn1) with great efforts. No single energy source is going to be the solution to global warming Development of alternative power sources is the only way towards sustainable development. As a developing country, China's pathway to a lowcarbon economy is absolutely a n0-regret approach with recognizing the uncertainty of climate change Nevertheless, the low-carbon economy is just one of the necessary conditions for achieving sustainable development. In this study, firstly we discussed the future direction and technology strategies for realizing a low-carbon society in the Post-Kyoto climate policy framework. "

"Inhibition is one of the
mechanisms used for mitigating the metallic corrosion, particularly in an acid environment. The present work aims to
investigate the
inhibiting effect of N-benzyl-N/-phenyl thiourea (BPTU) on the
corrosion of low carbon steel in a 0.1 M hydrochloric acid (HCl) solution using a Tafel
extrapolation and linear polarization techniques. The study reveals that BPTU
acts as an excellent anodic inhibitor for low carbon steel in a HCl
solution. The protective efficiency of the compound was found to be more than
97% even at higher temperatures. The study demonstrated that BPTU gets adsorbed
on the steel surface, following Temkin?s adsorption isotherm and the inhibition
is controlled by a chemisorption
mechanism. The investigation shows that the results obtained from the Tafel
extrapolation and linear polarization techniques for the corrosion of mild
steel in HCl medium were in good agreement. The influence of temperatures and
concentrations of BPTU on the corrosion of low carbon steel are also
examined in the present work."

"ABSTRACT
Low carbon design is a process of contradiction coordination, which involves multiple factors and necessitates abundantdesign knowledge and rules. We proposed the method that integrated the case based reasoning CBR method and extension theory to achieve low carbo design for products. In this paper, our work is on analyzing the design constraints, and carbon design for products. In this paper, our work is on analyzing the design contraints, and constructing the parameters modeling for representation of product cases. Firstly, we discussed the correlation among factors, and mapped the requirement onto the detailed physical structure. Secondly, we integrated the improved activitybased costing and carbon method and the indirect calculation method to estimate the carbon footprint and cost of each phase in product life cycle. We adopted the basic element model to represent the product cases and used the dependent function to discriminate the extent of compliance with the requirement. In final, the applicability of proposed method was demonstrated through a case study of a screw air compressor."

"The tourism and travel sector has contributed significantly to Indonesia’s economic growth and robust development. Despite its positive impact, tourism and travel business activities also potentially impact environmental loss. In order to reduce these negative impacts, the new concept of tourism, namely low-carbon tourism, which focuses on environmental sustainability, can be implemented as the enabler. One of the factors that can support the implementation is the existence of environmentally friendly technology that requires a technology transfer process. This paper aims to overview the role and implication of technology transfer for enabling low-carbon tourism in Indonesia and outlining a conceptual framework for addressing the political (P), economic (E), social (S), technological (T), environmental (E), and legal (L) factors that constrain and support in enabling low-carbon tourism through technology transfer in Indonesia. A qualitative library research method and PESTEL analysis were employed to analyze and map the implications of external factors influencing the development of low-carbon tourism through technology transfer in Indonesia. The paper denotes that all the factors (political, economic, social, technological, environmental, and legal) were interrelated. Nevertheless, the economic factor was the only one with a moderate policy to encourage businesses to use green practices, particularly for the carbon tax policy. Consequently, there was still an opportunity for monetary policy to promote low-carbon tourism."
