"The patristic, ecclesiological, and liturgical revival in the Orthodox Church has had a profound impact on world Orthodoxy and the ecumenical movement. Orthodox leaders have also contributed to the movements efforts in inter-religious dialogue, especially with Muslims. Yet this book is the first comprehensive attempt to assess an Orthodox position on Islam. It explains why, despite being neighbors for centuries, relations between Orthodox Christians and Muslims have become increasingly complex as internal and external forces challenge their ability to understand each other and live in peace. It demonstrates how a growing number of Orthodox scholars and leaders have reframed the discussion on Islam, while endorsing and participating in dialogue with Muslims. It shows how a positive relationship with Muslims (and Islam in a general sense) is an essential aspect of Orthodox Christians historical past, present identity, and future aspirations."

Kosovo is a breakaway country from Yugoslavia which until now still has status problems related to its existence in international politics. Russia as an important ally of Serbia has a big role in influencing developments in this region. It is the Russian Orthodox Church that encourages its government to get involved in the political dynamics that exist in Kosovo. This paper explains how and why an orthodox cultural sites in Kosovo can mobilize a church institution to be involved in governance and influence the future of the region which was recognized by the US and its allies in 2008. This research using the concept of cultural heritage, political participation through interest groups, and Religion and Diplomacy shows that Orthodox cultural sites provide the foundation for the orthodox church in the form of solidarity with fellow orthodox, the threat of new enemies, and sentiments in the country. The combination of these three things resulted in increased public support so as to encourage the Russian government to be involved in determining the future of Kosovo."

The identity of Orthodox Christianity and Orthodox Church in Russia has greatly united Russia in one government and one religion. Vladimir is considered successful in giving Orthodox influence in his country. The identity of Orthodox Chritianity which has long been inherently strong but was banned by the anti-religious movement in the days of communism in Russia and now the identity has a different meaning of unity. The Orthodox Christian Church has become a heterotopic in the social spatiality of society, where the church has a function as a space for religious people as explained in Michel Foucaults theory of other spaces in modern society. The purpose of this research is to define the heterotypic social spatiality of the Russian Orthodox Christian identity as the unifying tool of the Russian nation."
