"Although music could diversely influence consumer judgment process and behavior, it is still
unclear whether music can evoke discrete emotions on consumers and influence consumer evaluation
toward certain advertisements. This research proposes that music could evoke sad and anxious
emotion on consumers; subsequently, consumers would regulate their negative emotions in accordance
to their emotion orientations: Consumers who feel sad would show high evaluation toward
happy-themed advertisement, while consumers who feel anxious would show high evaluation toward
calm-themed advertisement. This paper concludes with the discussion of theoretical and practical
implications and conclusion of this study.

"Emotion is at the centre of our personal and social lives. To love or to hate, to be frightened or grateful is not just a matter of how we feel on the inside: our emotional responses direct our thoughts and actions, unleash our imaginations, and structure our relationships with others. Yet the role of emotion in human life has long been disputed. Is emotion reason?s friend or its foe? From where do the emotions really arise? Why do we need them at all? In this accessible and carefully argued introduction, Carolyn Price focuses on some central questions about the nature and function of emotion. She explores the ways in which emotion contrasts with belief and considers how our emotional responses relate to our values, our likes and our needs. And she investigates some of the different ways in which emotional responses can be judged as fitting or misplaced, rational or irrational, authentic or inauthentic, sentimental or profound. Throughout, she develops a particular view of emotion as a complex and diverse phenomenon, which reflects both our common evolutionary past and our different cultural and personal histories. Engagingly written with lots of examples to illuminate our understanding, this book provides the ideal introduction to the topic for students and scholars and anyone interested in delving further into the intricate web of human emotion"

"ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT
Music has a big influence in human life. A variation of sounds can evoke a certain emotion in the listener. Music Emotion Recognition MER is a field that is geared towards the detection of emotions in music. The process to for emotion detection is by using automated systems which are related with machine learning. MER has been proven capable to categorize various sorts of music by their emotional characteristics and also detecting emotion that is in a certain musical piece using various kinds of machine learning algorithms. In this study, we conduct an analysis towards a relation between the melody of a music piece by examining the average MIDI note value in a song and compute the accuracy rate in predicting the emotion contained in a song using the Support Vector Regression SVR algorithm. The result of this study is that there is a connection between the melody and the emotion that is contained in a song, which can be seen by the difference in the predicition value and the reference value in the arousal dan valence tests. The average of the difference in the arousal test is 0.00273 and the standard deviation is 1.15528, while the average of the difference in the arousal test is 0.08 and the standard deviation is 0.96. Kata Kunci:Adorno, musik, masyarakat, sosial, kaitan, kesamaan, filsafat musik baru, mimesis, modern, modernisme, philosophy of new music, dialectic of enlightenment, towards an informal music.

ABSTRACT
Correlations and Similarities between Music and Society in New Philosophy of Music Theodor Wiesengrund Adorno 39 s Consideration in Philosophy of New Music This thesis is a discussion and interpretation of Adorno rsquo s thought expressed mainly in Philosophy of New Music. Adorno is a prominent philosopher who unified music and social. To enrich the content analysis of Adorno rsquo s Philosophy of New Music, Aristotle rsquo s and Goethe rsquo s concept of mimesis are also utilized alongside critical reading in understanding the correlations and similarities between music and society. Understanding the idea of philosophy of new music in the Philosophy of New Music requires taking into account Adorno rsquo s previous thoughts covered in Dialectic of Enlightenment and later thoughts in Towards an Informal Music, and also the historical context of modernism. Keywords Adorno, music, society, social, correlations, similarities, philosophy of new music, mimesis, modern, modernism, philosophy of new music, dialectic of enlightenment, towards an informal music."

The study was conducted to get a description about the correlation between emotion regulation and music performance anxiety on adolescent music performer. Emotion regulation was measured by using Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) developed by Gross and John (2003) and music performance anxiety was measured by using Music Performance Anxiety Inventory for Adolescent (MPAI-A) developed by Osborne and Kenny (2005a in Kenny & Osborne, 2006). Participants were 73 adolescent music performer in Jabodetabek.
The result shows that there is no significant correlation between cognitive reappraisal strategy in emotion regulation and music performance anxiety on adolescent music performance (r = -0.027, and is not significant at l.o.s 0.05 (p = 0.818)), and that there is no significant correlation between expressive suppression strategy in emotion regulation and music performance anxiety on adolescent music performace (r = -0.045, and is not significant at l.o.s 0.05 (p = 0.707)). This leads us to a conclusion that emotion regulation does not correlate with music performance anxiety. The indication maybe caused by the need to measure whether the anxiety is a state or trait before measuring music performance anxiety and to use a measurement qualified for measuring how far someone can control their anxiety at optimum level. There is a need to conduct an exploration about factors and possibilities that affect the correlation."

Background: One of the deficit domains of social cognition in schizophrenia patients is emotional recognition. Negative emotional recognition deficits, such as emotional deficits of fear, anger, and sadness already exist in the first episode of schizophrenia. Music as therapy is known to be beneficial for emotional improvement, as well as the emotional experience of patients with schizophrenia. This study will assess the validity and effectiveness of a music therapy module “emotion recognition in improving recognition of basic emotions in patients with schizophrenia.
Methods: The research was conducted in 2 steps, namely step I in the form of creating a music therapy module by the researcher and music therapist and testing the validity of the module content by 5 music experts and 3 psychiatrists to assess I-CVI, S-CVI, and CVR. Step II in the form of implementing the music therapy module. Research in the form of a quasi-experimental study on 15 subjects of schizophrenic remission patients who attended music therapy for 10 sessions from March 2020 to July 2020. Subjects were assessed pre and post music therapy test results to see improvements in recognition of 5 basic emotions (happy, sad, angry, afraid, calm) using the Mcnemar statistical test. Inter-rater reliability tests were also carried out for module implementation.
Results: The results of the validity test of the emotion recognition music therapy module showed a mean I-CVI of 0.98, S-CVI of 0.95, and CVR of 0.97. In the music therapy module effectiveness test, there was a significant improvement in the emotional deficits of fear and anger, with an increase in the pre and post music therapy test scores with a p-value <0.05 in the anger and fear categories, but not significant in the happy, sad, and happy emotions. and fear (p-value> 0.05) Obtained 2 out of 15 subjects dropped out. In the qualitative inter-rater reliability test, the improvement of the emotion recognition music therapy module with the activity of each session was more than 80% according to the module content.
Conclusion: Emotion recognition music therapy module has content validity, reliability, and effectiveness in emotional recognition of some of the basic emotions of remission schizophrenia patients, especially the emotion recognition of fear and anger.

"In recent years have seen an enormous amount of philosophical research into the emotions and the imagination, but as yet little work has been done to connect the two. In this book, the author shows that all emotions require some form of imagination and goes on to fully explore the link between these two important concepts both within philosophy and in everyday life. We may take it for granted that complex emotions, such as hope and resentment, require a rich thinking and an engagement with the imagination, but the author shows how more basic and responsive emotions such as fear and anger also require us to take account of possibilities and opportunities beyond the immediate situation. The book highlights that many emotions, more than we tend to suppose, require us to imagine a situation from a particular point of view and that this in itself can be the source of further emotional feeling. It goes on to demonstrate the important role that emotions play in our moral lives, throwing light on emotions such as self-respect, disapproval, and remorse, and the price we pay for having them. He explores the intricate nature of moral emotions and the challenges we face when integrating our thinking on morality and the emotions. This book challenges many assumptions about the nature of emotion and imagination and will appeal to anyone seeking a deeper understanding of the role that these concepts play in our lives. -- From publisher's website."
