The role of contraceptive use dynamics in shaping the contraceptive
prevalence structure and ht determining its impact on fertility becomes
increasingly important for family planning program, policy mailers and
program managers. Relatively few analyses of contraceptive use dynamics
exist for developing countries. The lack of _ such studies is that the data
required are not often collected. This article is intended to _,fill in the gaps by
analyzing the five-year calendar data derived from the I994 Indonesia
Demographic and Health Survey (1994 DHS). The five year calendar data on
contraceptive use, pregnancy, termination and reason for discontinuation of
contraceptive use analyzed using the life table methodologies provide
meaningful insight on the quality of contraceptive use in Indonesia. It is found
that the median duration of use is longest for the IUD and implant, while
shortest lor condom/intravag. About 27 percent of all Indonesia contraceptive
users discontinue the use of their chosen method within a year. The reasons
for discontinuation vary across subgroups of women. Method failure is
associated more with discontinuation of traditional method, while method-
related reasons such as health concern or inconvenience of use are more
likely to be associated with discontinuation of modern method mainly lUDs,
injectables and implants. There are more important factors that differentiate
women on discontinuation qt' contraception e.g., area of residence, region
education, age, and contraceptive intent. These findings on discontinuation
enabled the family planning program to provide more realistic and focused
services to their clients. In conclusion, this analysis emphasizes the
importance of examining the quality of contraceptive use in Indonesia to
achieve greater appreciation of the factors that affect contraceptive
discontinuation, switching behavior, and use:;i:i'lure. Special attention should
he addressed to health concerns as an important issue for the most popular
modern methods and to the minority of women who discontinue use within a
year and do not switch to another method.

"Contraception is an integral dimension of women's
health both of them are components of the broader- objectives of
family planning and life long well-being i.e., controlling ones life
pattern. Research data indicates of decline in fertility rates. infant
mortality and child mortality rates with womens' development and
economic advancement, women ?s acknowledge the need for
contraception and limiting the number of pregnancies. This study
used the Indian National Family Health Survey (NFHS-2, l 998-99),
2000, for currently married women aged l5-49 years. The objective
of the study is to explore the substantial impact of the use modern
contraceptive methods on fertility, infant and child mortality rates
in India. The knowledge of modern contraceptive methods is nearly
uniform (99%) among the currently married women irrespective of
their socioeconomic and geographical affiliation. The practice of
contraception does not only reduce the fertility, infant, and child
mortality rates, but also has major impact on the quality of their
lives and reproductive health status. The strong, consistent, and
negative significant eject of family planning methods have been
observed on aggregate decline of fertility. infant, and child
mortality. The socioeconomic background of women (education,
religion, and standard of living) influenced the practice of family
planning methods significantly. The use of family planning methods
subsequently help to bring down the fertility, infant, and child
mortality rates.

The use of contraception is a strategy to delay pregnancy and to do birth control, with the possibility of reducing fertility of ovum by spermatozoa. However, coverage of the use of contraceptive in Papua is still far from the target set. This study aims to determine the distribution of contraceptive use based on WUS 15-49 years predisposing factors and enabling factors in Papua Province in 2012. This research used cross sectional design method with secondary data analysis of Demographic Health Survey of Indonesia 2012. This study sample were women age is 15-49 years, listed as respondents in the data IDHS 2012, and meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria.
The results showed that the distribution of contraceptive use on WUS 15-49 years in Papua province was 14.6 percent. The results of analysis showed there is a significant relationship between the distribution of contraceptive use on WUS with age >35 years (PR: 7.823; 95% CI 3.210 to 19.067), higher education (PR: 4.751; 95% CI 2.884 to 7.827), employment status (PR: 0.435; 95% CI 0.318 to 0.595), number of parity 3-4 children (PR: 3.254; 95% CI 2.286 to 4.633), urban residence (PR: 2.694; 95% CI 1.960 to 3.703), middle income (PR: 2.666; 95% CI 1.798 to 3.953), higher knowledge (PR: 3.970; 95% CI 2.863 to 5.507), and have been exposed to family planning information (PR: 3,091; 95% CI 2.255 to 4.236) with a p value <0.005. Therefore, an increase in the effort required of health promotion, intensive counseling and dissemination of information by health professionals about the benefits of the importance of contraceptive use on WUS, providing quality contraceptive services in obtaining the tools/methods of family planning.

Temuan dari regresi logistik bivariat dan multinominal menunjukkan bahwa tingkat pendidikan (OR=3,02; 95% CI: 1,72-5,31 ), tempat tinggal (OR=1,75; 95% CI: 1,18-2,58), indeks kekayaan (OR=3,57; 95% CI: 1,87- 9,50), status pekerjaan (OR=15,85; 95% CI: 1,83-96,76), jumlah anak hidup (OR=2,1; 95% CI: 1,35-3,24), istri menggunakan KB (OR=0,07; 95% CI: 0,05-0,11), keterpaparan melalui media (OR=1,83; 95% CI: 1,23-2,72), diskusi dengan petugas kesehatan (OR=0,47 ; 95% CI: 0,30-0,72), diskusi bersama istri (OR=2,71; 95% CI: 1,94-3,79), pengetahuan (OR=1,69; 95% CI: 1,23-2,32), dan preferensi fertilitas (OR=1,72; 95% CI: 1,22-2,43) berhubungan secara bermakna dengan penggunaan kontrasepsi modern pada pria yang aktif secara seksual.

A good understanding of the role of men in the formation of an ideal family and reproductive health planning can have a good impact in a family planning program. This study seeks to the predictors of modern contraceptive use and fertility preference among sexually active men in Indonesia. The data source is the nationally representative 2017 Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS) of men aged 15-54 years. The analysis is restricted to 9,277 men who reported being sexually active in the past 12 months prior to the survey, have a married status, and living with his wife. This research use bivariate and multinominal logistic regression to access predictors that influence modern contraceptive use and fertility preference among sexually active men. Bivariate and multivariable multinomial logistic regression analysis was conducted and statistical significance was set at p-value<0.05. From a total of 9,277 sexually active men in Indonesia, 309 (3,3%) used male modern contraception methods and 8,968 (96,7%) didn't use modern contraception. Besides that, from the total sample, 4,383 (47,2%) is the fertility preference of male that didn't want another child and 4,894 (52,8%) men indecisive or still want another child. Findings from the bivariate and multinominal logistic regression indicate that education (OR=3,02; 95% CI: 1,72-5,31 ), residence (OR=1,75; 95% CI: 1,18-2,58), wealth index(OR=3,57; 95% CI: 1,87-9,50), currently working (OR=13,32; 95% CI: 1,83-96,76), living children (OR=2,1; 95% CI: 1,35-3,24), istri menggunakan KB (OR=0,07; 95% CI: 0,05-0,11), access to media (OR=1,83; 95% CI: 1,23-2,72), disscuss with health worker (OR=0,47 ; 95% CI: 0,30-0,72), disscuss with wife (OR=2,71; 95% CI: 1,94-3,79), knowledge (OR=1,69; 95% CI: 1,23-2,32), dan fertility preference (OR=1,72; 95% CI: 1,22-2,43) were all significantly associated with modern contraceptive use among sexually active men. Other result finding that age (OR=4,55; 95% CI: 3,87-5,34), education level (OR=0,77; 95% CI: 0,67-0,89), residence (OR=1,26; 95% CI: 1,10-1,45), living children (OR=13,2; 95% CI: 10,45- 16,68), wife using contraceptive (OR=1,32; 95% CI: 1,15-1,51), access to media (OR=0,83; 95% CI: 0,72-0,96), disscuss with wife (OR=0,86; 95% CI: 0,75-0,98), and knowledge (OR = 1,28; 95% CI: 1,11-1,48) were all significantly assosiated with fertility preference in a men who didn't want another child. These findings suggest that future policies and programs should focus on interventions and promoting men's contraception in media, addressing regional disparities in accessibility and availability of modern contraceptive, and interventions family planning in the middle of level education."

Indonesia`sdecentralization policy established in 1999 has implications for family planningprograms. This study aims to see the implications of decentralization policy oncontraceptive mix. The data used are SDKI data in 1997, 2003, 2007, and 2012. With amixed approach between quantitative and qualitative research, decentralization policyresults have influenced the family planning program on human resources, institutional, funding, and facilities and infrastructure. The variables that influence the selection ofcontraception at the individual level are the perceptions related to the lower costsincurred when choosing injection methods compared to other methods. The suggestionthat can be formulated is to incorporate the family planning program in MinimumService Standards Standar Pelayanan Minimal so that the community does not need tospend the cost to obtain family planning services."
