People with disabilities (PWD) face more barriers than those without disabilities (PWOD) when employed and even as they seek employment. The barriers not only come from their impairment or difference, but also by barriers in society which leads to discrimination. Being treated unfairly and rejected all the time makes PWD are more likely to become hopeless of job than PWOD. This study aims to examine how disability factors affect the probability of being discouraged for the job seeker based on status and number of disabilities and which type of disabilities has the greatest probability of being discouraged in Indonesia. Using Sakernas data on August 2021 and the two step Heckman method, we found that disability has significant impact on the decision of hopeless of job. Job seekers with disabilities are 2,6 times more likely to become discouraged than PWOD job seekers. By the number of disabilities, people with multiple disabilities are 2,5 times more likely to become discouraged than persons with a single disability. Meanwhile, based on the type of disability, people with mental disabilities are known to be the most likely to become discouraged among PWOD. Recommendations in this research related to the elimination of disability stereotypes in the work and social environment, the development of inclusive training for PWD, the development of skills according to personal abilities and the needs of the job market, and the provision of consulting and counselling services related to the availability and readiness of work for PWD."

Sementara itu, analisis pengaruh umur berdasarkan life course menjelaskan perbedaan perilaku labor outcome termasuk perilaku mencari kerja.

The job search duration is an approach used in micro analysis of unemployment. Job search theory states that wages (wage offer and wage reservation) are the main variable of the job search model. The wage will determine the individual's work participation and subsequently affect the job search duration. Meanwhile, the analysis of age effect based on life course explains the differences in labor outcome behavior, including job searching behavior. The government has an urgency to take advantage of the demographic bonus moment, by optimizing the labor force participation of the productive population. This study wants to determine the impact of reservation wages and age effect on job search duration using the OLS robust standard error method. Estimation of reservation wages used Two-Step Heckman to labor force aged 15-64 years. The results show that reservation wages and age effect have an effect on job search duration. Every 1 percent increase in reservation wages will extend the job search duration by 0.97 months. On the other hand. there are indications that the unemployed have higher reservation wages and longer job search. Meanwhile, the longest average of job search duration occurs in early adulthood (23-33) where individuals are still looking for suitable jobs. The study also found indications of discrimination against young job seekers (15-22) based on human capital characteristics. The higher education and skills, the shorter their job search duration. Young people tend to be more likely to accept any kind of work and are vulnerable to receiving wages that are not suitable with their education level and skills."

"Even in a bad economy, companies have job openings they can?t fill. Considering the millions of people who are out of work or unhappily employed, how can that be?What are job seekers doing to turn off employers? And what is it that employers want but aren?t finding? Leading career expert and syndicated columnist Andrea Kay asked employers one simple question: why didn?t you hire the last ten people you interviewed? What it came down to, every time, wasn?t a matter of skills or experience, but how applicants seemed based on what they said or did. From lack of preparation, to pushiness, to a subtly defensive attitude, it's the simple behaviors prospective employees exhibit before, during, and after interviews that stand between them and job offers. Based on candid insights from real-life employers, and featuring a foreword by Richard Nelson Bolles, bestselling author of What Color Is Your Parachute?, this book helps job hunters take control of how they come across to the people in charge of hiring. From ?20 Things You Should Never Do? to a ?Would You Hire You?? test, This Is How to Get Your Next Job helps readers show hiring managers who they are and why they?re the perfect fit for the job they seek."
