"Adventure is worthwhile in itself" said the aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart. Roald Amundsen, one of the most intrepid explorers in History, put it much more prosaically when he declared that "adventure is just bad planning". Whichever way you look at it, the spirit of adventure is intrinsic in all of us; it is just a question of finding the right key to unleash it. Program homestay (inap desa) merupakan pelancongan berasaskan komuniti yang turut menyumbang kepada pendapatan negara. Statistik menunjukan jumlah keseluruhan ketibaan pelancong kw program homestay pada bulan Januari hingga bulan Disember pada tahun 2010 adalah seramai 196,42, iaitu peningkatan sebanyak 21.6 peratus berbanding pada bulan Januari hingga bulan Disember pada tahun 2009. Ini menggambarkan bahawa keperluan terhadap perkhidmatan program homestay meningkat saban tahun. Oleh itu, program homestay perlu diberi perhatian oleh badan-badan kerajaan dalam usaha mengekalkan kejayaan dan kualiti serta meningkatkan bilangan pengunjung yang datang. Salah satu faktor utama kejayaan program homestay adalah melalui pengurusan kepemimpinanyang berupaya merancang, mengurus, melaksana dan mengawal aktiviti-aktiviti dalam program homestay yang berkesan. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa terdapat beberapa item yang mempunyai tahap min yang rendah yang perlu diberi penekanan oleh pihak pengurusan homestay bagi meningkatkan komitmen peserta. Justeru itu, kajian ini membincangkan apakah-faktor-faktor pengurusan pemimpin yang menjadi amalan dalam meningkatkan komitmen organisasi dalam kalangan peserta program homestay bagi pembangunan komuniti luar bandar."
