"Fantastic Mr. Fox adalah novel karya Roald Dahl, menceritakan kisah tentang Mr. Fox yang menyelamatkan keluarganya dan binatang-binatang lain dari ancaman para peternak. Novel ini diadaptasi menjadi sebuah film oleh Wes Anderson dengan versi Fantastic Mr. Fox yang berbeda. Artikel ini akan mengulas isu-isu maskulinitas yang ditampilkan pada novel dan adaptasi film Fantastic Mr. Fox lebih dalam. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat bagaimana maskulinitas direpresentasikan dan dibentuk melalui kedua karya. Dahl memperlihatkan maskulinitas dominan melalui karakter Mr. Fox, sedangkan Anderson menunjukkan gambaran maskulinitas yang lebih beragam melalui karakter-karakter pada film, seperti Mr. Fox, Ash, dan Kristofferson.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dan analisis isi, serta konsep-konsep maskulinitas dari Connell, Hofstede, dan Kimmel sebagai landasan teori. Temuan utama dalam penelitian ini dapat dilihat melalui gambaran stereotip gender yang terbentuk pada konstruksi maskulinitas yang berbeda. Bentuk-bentuk maskulinitas diperlihatkan melalui perkembangan karakter dan plot pada adaptasi film yang dibandingkan dengan novel. Selanjutnya, ditemukan juga negosiasi maskulinitas dominan dalam adaptasi film.

Fantastic Mr. Fox is originally a novel by Roald Dahl, telling the story of Mr. Fox who tries to save his family and community from the farmers rsquo; threat. This book was adapted by Wes Anderson into a film, offering a different version of Fantastic Mr. Fox. This article will further explore masculinity issues presented in both the novel and film adaptation of Fantastic Mr. Fox. The objective of this research is to disclose the manner in which masculinity is represented and constructed through both works. Dahl displays dominant masculinity through the character Mr. Fox, while Anderson presents a more diverse portrayal of masculinity through the characters of Mr. Fox, Ash, and Kristofferson.

This study uses qualitative research and content analysis as its research methods, and concepts of masculinity from Connell, Hofstede, and Kimmel as the theoretical framework. The main finding of this research can be seen through the portrayal of constructed gender stereotypes which centralizes on different types of the construction of masculinity. The constructions are presented through the development of characters and plot in the film adaptation compared to the novel. Furthermore, there is negotiation of the dominant masculinity in the film adaptation."

"ABSTRAKSkripsi ini merupakan penelitian tentang pemanfaatan kelompok nomina dalamempat lirik lagu yang dinyanyikan oleh tokoh Oompa Loompa dalam novelCharlie and the Chocolate Factory karya Roald Dahl. Penelitian ini menggunakanmetode kualitatif dan kuantitatif dengan pisau analisis tata bahasa fungsional danpendekatan analisis bahasa kritis (critical linguistics). Tujuan ditulisnya skripsi iniadalah untuk menunjukkan bahwa kelompok nomina dalam empat lirik lagutersebut dimanfaatkan untuk mempertegas citraan anak nakal dalam cerita novelCharlie and the Chocolate Factory. Temuan penelitian skripsi ini adalah: (1)kelompok nomina dimanfaatkan dengan maksimal untuk memberi citra negatifbagi anak nakal dalam cerita, (2) kelompok nomina yang digunakan umumnyaberstruktur kompleks, dengan struktur modifikasi yang dominan berupa unsurdeictic, epithet, dan qualifier, (3) citraan anak nakal yang ditampilkan umumnyaberupa karakter dengan orientasi non-produktif. Hasil penelitian diharapkan dapatmemberi kontribusi dalam memahami struktur kelompok nomina serta fungsinyauntuk menunjukkan suatu pencitraan tertentu dalam sebuah bentuk karya sastra.

ABSTRACTThe focus of this study is about the use of nominal groups within four lyrics

which are sung by the Oompa Loompas in Roald Dahl?s Charlie and the

Chocolate Factory. This study used qualitative and quantitative methods through

functional grammar and critical linguistics. The purpose of this study is to show

that the nominal groups in those four lyrics are mostly used as the way to

emphasize the image of ill-behaved children in the novel. The results of this study

are: (1) nominal groups are used optimally to strengthen the negative image of illbehaved

children in the story, (2) the functional structures of nominal groups in

those lyrics are mostly complex, and the dominant modifiers are deictic, epithet,

and qualifier, (3) the image of ill-behaved children here is mostly about characters

with non-productive orientation. This study is expected to be a contribution to

understand more about nominal groups, their structures, and function to highlight

a particular image within literatures."
