"Skripsi ini menceritakan awal mula berperannya perempuan Vietnam saat terjadinya perang Vietnam antara tahun 1960-1975. Berperannya perempuan tidak terlepas dari keadaan yang saat itu terjadi. Budaya Konfusianisme yang mengekang perempuan juga turut mendorong perempuan untuk berperang. Harapan akan persamaan hak, emansipasi, sempat dinikmati oleh perempuan pada masa perang Vietnam. National Liberation Front, sebagai organisasi militer politik yang ada di Vietnam Selatan menjadi motor meningkatnya peran serta perempuan dalam perang tersebut. Akan tetapi setelah perang usai, posisi perempuan kembali lagi kepada posisi sebelum perang Vietnam.

This paper discuss about the early birth of women role in Vietnam Warbetween 1960 until 1975. The Women role cannot be apart from the situation at that time. Confucianism restrains the women, but also leading them to join the war. Hoping for equality of right and emancipation, the women in Vietnam had a changes to feel it during the war. National Liberation Front, as a political military organization in South Vietnam, being a motor to actuate the women to play more significant role during the war. But afte the war, the women position turn back again to their old position in traditional custom."

CBS Evening News sebagai salah satu program berita di stasiun televisi CBS di Amerika Serikat memberitakan kondisi perang vietnam serta mengungkap berbagai informasi tentang perang yang ditutup-tutupi oleh pemerintah Amerika. Sejak tahun 1962 hingga 1975, Walter Cronkite menjadi pembawa berita dan Kepala Redaksi dalam CBS Evening News dan membawa program ini menempati rating pertama kategori program berita malam. Selama perang berlangsung, CBS Evening News berhasil menjalankan perannya sebagai Lembaga Keempat di Amerika.

AbstractThis thesis is about the role of CBS Evening News in reporting Vietnam War in United States of America (1962-1975). CBS Evening News is one of the news programs in CBS_s TV station. This news program has reported on condition of Vietnam War and has revealed information about the war which covered by US government. Since 1962 until 1975, Walter Cronkite was the newscaster and chief of editorial staff in CBS Evening News and brought up this program to the first rating for nightly news program category. During the war time, CBS Evening News successful played the role as the Fourth Estate in United States of America."
