"Tugas akhir ini merancang suatu implementasi playback multimedia dengan menggunakan antarmuka metoda filter. Sistem yang dikembangkan dalam tugas akhir ini merupakan penyempurnaan aplikasi playback yang menjadi standar untuk sistem multimedia pada platform desktop PC dengan sistem operasi Microsoft WindowsTM dimana sistem tersebut menggunakan Media Control Interface (MCI) untuk Application Programming Interface (API)-nya. Penyempurnaan yang dilakukan adalah mengganti struktur antarmuka tersebut dengan antarmuka yang memilki filter-filter. Dengan melakukan modifikasi terhadap konfigurasi dan isi filter-filter tersebut memungkinkan untuk dilakukannya integrasi suatu proses pengolahan data ke dalam alur data multimedia yang dijalankan.Dalam tugas akhir ini playback multimedia diimplementasikan dalam bentuk dynamic link library yang dinamakan samsys.dll, yang memberikan kemampuan pada Windows untuk menjalankan aplikasi playback yang berbasiskan sistem tersebut. Pengendalian jalannya playback dilakukan melalui antarmuka pemakai yang dirancang khusus. Dengan memanfaatkan metoda filter, dalam tugas akhir ini diperlihatkan kemampuan antarmuka untuk melakukan integrasi media / informasi tambahan berupa tampilan teks, animasi, atau suara terhadap tampilan multimedia yang berjalan, tanpa merubah alur data multimedia yang asli, dan tanpa melakukan perubahan terhadap rancangan antarmuka secara permanen."
