"The theme of this book is the early encounters between Christianity and Islam in the eastern provinces of the Byzantine Empire and in Persia from the beginnings of Islam in Mecca to the time of the Abbasids in Bagdad. The contributions in this volume deal with crucial subjects of political and theological dialogue and controversy that characterized the varying responses of the Christian communities in the Byzantine Eastern provinces to the Islamic conquest and its subsequent impact on Byzantine society and history. This volume opens up new research perspectives surrounding the confrontation of Christianity with the early theological and political development of Islam. "ABSTRAKTesis ini membahas konstruksi identitas pendukung Pemerintahan Revolusioner Republik Indonesia PRRI dan Angkatan Perang Republik Indonesia APRI dalam cerpen dan roman Soewardi Idris dengan konteks peristiwa PRRI di Sumatera Barat 1958-1961 . Korpus tesis ini adalah kumpulan cerpen Diluar Dugaan 1963 , Isteri Seorang Sahabat 1963 , Antologi Cerpen Pergolakan Daerah 2008 , dan roman Dari Puntjak Bukit Talang 1964 . Dari hasil identifikasi terhadap teks ditemukan bahwa bangunan oposisi biner antara pendukung PRRI dan APRI yang membuat pemaknaan terhadap teks menjadi tunggal dan normatif. PRRI selalu hadir sebagai ldquo;pemberontak rdquo; terhadap negara sementara APRI selalu menjadi ldquo;penyelamat rdquo; negara. Oposisi biner tersebut kemudian didekonstruksi untuk menemukan perkembangan makna teks. Analisis akhir tesis ini memperlihatkan terdapat tindak represi yang dilakukan pihak APRI terhadap pendukung PRRI, keluarga pendukung PRRI, dan masyarakat. Selain itu, terkait dengan nasionalisme sebagai pusat teks, terlihat kekhasan masyarakat Minangkabau di Sumatera Barat yang menjadi konteks peristiwa, dalam memaknai nasionalisme.

ABSTRACTThis thesis explores the identity construction of Revolutionary Government of the Republic of Indonesia PRRI and Armed Forces of the Republic of Indonesia APRI in Soewardi Idris 39 short stories and romance, which take place within the context of PRRI in West Sumatra 1958 1961 . the Corpus of this thesis are Diluar Dugaan 1963 , Isteri Seorang Sahabat 1963 , Antologi Cerpen Pergolakan Daerah 2008 , dan Dari Puntjak Bukit Talang 1964 . After investigating the texts, it is found that there appears to be binary oppositions between PRRI and APRI, leading to a single and normative interpretation on the text itself. PRRI is always depicted as rebels while APRI is portrayed as the country 39 s savior . Such binary opposition is then deconstructed in order to find the development of the texts 39 meaning. The final analysis of this thesis aims to reveal that there were repressions committed by APRI towards PRRI supporters, their families, and the society as a whole. In addition, while the text mainly revolves around the theme of nationalism, Minangkabau society becomes a unique context that contributes to the texts 39 meaning of nationalism. "
