"Penelitian ini meneliti tentang tuturan memuji dalam 14 data dalam bentuk unggahan dalam media sosial Instagram dengan tulisan pendek berbahasa Jepang tentang produk roti yang terlampir dalam penelitian ini melalui perspektif dari J. L. Austin (1962), John Searle (1979), dan I Dewa Putu Wijana (1996). Penelitian ini diteliti dengan teknik analisis wacana dan menjelaskan secara deskrpitif sehingga bisa dimasukkan kepada dua kategori dengan tujuan menentukan jenis tuturan memuji. Penelitian ini telah menemukan adanya tuturan memuji langsung dan taklangsung pada data yang terlampir.

This research has done a research of compliment speech acts in 14 pieces of data in the form of Instagram posts of bread-related products that have captions in Japanese language that was attached onto this research with the perspectives of J. L. Austin (1962), John Searle (1979) and I Dewa Putu Wijana (1996). This research was done using the discourse analysis method and giving descriptive explanations toward the compliment acts that is categorized within two categories with the purpose of determining what kind of speech act is used. This research has found the usage of direct and indirect speech act on the aforementioned attached data."

"Penelitian ini difokuskan pada tindak tutur penolakan bahasa Jepang yang dilakukan oleh para karyawan Jepang ditinjau dari usia dan jenis kelamin dengan tujuan mengidentifikasi ragam ungkapan dan strategi ketika menolak undangan dari pihak pelanggan, menolak ajakan yang tidak menguntungkan bagi perusahaan, menolak bekerja pada hari libur dan menolak menemani atasan pada hari Minggu. Sumber data penelitian ini diperoleh dengan cara mengirimkan kuesioner kepada karyawan-karyawan di Jepang melalui surat elektronik. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa responden berupaya meminimalisir tindakan ekspresi wajah dengan menggunakan ungkapan-ungkapan yang mengandung unsur kesantunan. Berdasarkan jenis kelamin, kelompok perempuan cenderung menggunakan tuturan yang lebih panjang. Respon penolakan langsung lebih sering digunakan oleh kelornpok laki-laki. Berdasarkan usia, respon penolakan langsung tanpa basa-basi hanya digunakan oleh responden usia 20-an dan 30-an. Para responden usia 40-an dan 50-an cenderung memilih tuturan yang lebih bervariasi dan panjang. Secara keseluruhan kekerapan kemunculan respon tidak langsung tinggi.

This research focused on the Japanese refusal speech acts committed by Japanese employees in terms of age and sex with purpose to identify range of expression and strategies used by Japanese employees when reject invitation from customers, deny an unfavorable request for company, refuse to work on holidays and turn down to accompany their boss on Sunday. The data sources which used in this study were obtained by sending questionnaires to the employees in Japan via electronic mail.

The results of this research show that respondents attempted to minimize the threat of action by using facial expressions that contain the elements of politeness. Based on sex, women's groups tend to use a longer utterance than men's group. Direct rejection response more often used by the men?s group. Based on age, direct rejection response without further ado only used by respondents age group 20s and 30s. Respondents aged 40s and 50s tend to prefer more varied and length utterances. In general the occurence of indirect response is high."

"ABSTRAKThis essay examines the historical conditions of the politics of pedagogy that have shaped the history of postcolonial higher education and attempts at producing countermovements to its subsequent institutionalization. I consider this in relation to pedagogical practices that reference creative forms in avant-garde art and theater. A genealogy of rethinking education through creative means can be traced back to the establishment of Nanyang University and the teaching of contemporary Asian literature by Han Suyin, with later artists such as Wong Hoy Cheong engaging with Paulo Freires ideas on learning in Wongs course on Third World aesthetics, Universiti Bangsar Utamas reimagination of the role that education could play in Kuala Lumpur during the 1998 Reformasi, and most recently Buku Jalans decentering of education. Finally, I consider the pedagogical stakes at hand by exploring the life story of a bookseller in Kelantan and his embodiment of a local cosmopolitanism."
