"Industrial production in high-wage countries like Germany is still at risk. Yet, there are many counter-examples in which producing companies dominate their competitors by not only compensating for their specific disadvantages in terms of factor costs (e.g. wages, energy, duties and taxes) but rather by minimising waste using synchronising integrativity as well as by obtaining superior adaptivity on alternating conditions. In order to respond to the issue of economic sustainability of industrial production in high-wage countries, the leading production engineering and material research scientists of RWTH Aachen University together with renowned companies have established the Cluster of Excellence “Integrative production technology for high-wage countries”. This compendium comprises the cluster’s scientific results as well as a selection of business and technology cases, in which these results have been successfully implemented into industrial practice in close cooperation with more than 30 companies of the industrial production sector."

"Tesis ini membahas tentang kemitraan petani plasma sebagai salah satu bentuk penerapan Corporate Social Responsibility CSR dalam rangka menciptakan Sustainable Supply Chain di perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang industri perkebunan sawit. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis eksploratori dengan menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif dan case study. Penelitian ini dilakukan kepada salah satu perusahaan yang menjadi pionir pelaksanaan kemitraan plasma kelapa sawit di Indonesia untuk melihat dan menganalisis penerapan CSR dalam pelaksanaan kemitraan plasma dan pengaruhnya dalam rangka menciptakan sustainable supply chain di perusahaan tersebut.Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan kemitraan plasma adalah salah satu bentuk program CSR yang mampu memberikan melaksanakan tanggung jawab CSR baik dari sisi ekonomi legal etis maupun filantropisnya serta mampu memenuhi dimensi keberlanjutan berupa profit people dan planet. Dari penelitian juga ditunjukkan bahwa kemitraan plasma dapat digunakan sebagai enabler dalam terciptanya sustainable supply chain sehingga memberikan manfaat tidak hanya kepada penerimanya namun juga kepada perusahaan sendiri dan sangat tepat digunakan dalam pengembangan industri perkebunan kelapa sawit di Indonesia.

This thesis discusses the plasma smallholder partnership as a form of Corporate Social Responsibility CSR in order to create a sustainable supply chain for companies engaged in the oil palm plantation industry. This study is an exploratory type that uses qualitative research approach and case study approach. This study is carried out at one of the palm oil companies that pioneered the implementation of plasma smallholder partnership in Indonesia to see and analyze the implementation of CSR in plasma smallholder partnership and its influence in creating a sustainable supply chain to the company.The result of this study shows that plasma smallholder partnership as one form of CSR was able to answer the CSR responsibilities which are economic legal ethical and philanthropic responsibilities and able to deliver the dimensions of sustainability in the form of profit people and planet. From the study also indicated that the partnership plasma can be used as an enabler in the creation of a sustainable supply chain and to provide benefits not only to the recipient but also to the company itself and it is ideal to use in the development of oil palm plantations and industry in Indonesia."
