"Penelitian mengenai efek antimikroba minyak kayumanis (Cinnan2omun'z burmanni Nees ex Blume) terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, Streptococcus fi - hemolyticus Grup A, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853, dan Trichophyton mentagrophytes telah dilakukan di Laboratorium Mikrobiologi, Jurusan Farmasi FMIPA UI. Dalam hal mi Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 dan Streptococcus 6 - hemolyticus Grup A mewakili kelompok bakteri positif Gram, Pseudornonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 mewakili kelompok bakteri negatif Gram dan Trichophyton mentagrophytes mewakili kelompok j amur. Minyak kayumanis diperoleh dari hasil destilasi kulit batang kayumanis. Komponen utama minyak kayumanis adalah sinamaldehid dan eugenol. Pada penelitian mi dilakukan pengujian efek antimikroba dari 3 jenis minyak kayurnanis yang rnempunyai kadar sinamaldehid clan eugenol yang berbeda-beda. Minyak kayumanis A mempunyai kadar sinamaldehid 42,46 % dan eugenol 6,80 %. Minyak kayumanis B mempunyai kadar sinamaldehid 64,42 % dan eugenol 3,15 % sedangkan kayumanis C mengandung 75,50 % sinarnaldehid dan 3;3 % eugenol. Metode pengujian efek antimikroba yang digunakan dalam penelitian mi adalah metode dilusi untuk mengetahui kadar hambat minimal (KHM), yaitu kadar terkecil yang menghambat pertumbuhan mikroba clan metode difusi dengan menggunakan silinder untuk mengetahui diameter zona hambatan mikroba yang terbentuk di sekeliling silinder Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa ketiga minyak kayumanis memberikan efek antimikroba yang berbeda. Minyak kayumanis A memberikan efek antimikroba tertinggi, disusul minyak kayumanis B dan terakhir minyak kayumanis A. Untuk bakteri Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 minyak kayurnanis A memberikan KHM 312,5 j.ig/mL, minyak kayumanis B 250 tg/mL, dan minyak kayumanis C 187,5 tg/mL. Untuk bakteri Streptococcus 6 - hemolyticus Grup A, minyak kayumanis A memberikan KHM 281,25 ig/mL, minyak kayumanis B 250 pg/mL dan minyak kayumanis C 218,75 j.iglmL. Untuk bakteri Pseudornonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 minyak kayumanis A memberikan KHM 312,5 jig/rnL, minyak kayumanis B 281,25 .ig/mL dan minyak kayumanis C 250 tgIrnL. Untuk jamur Trichophyton mentagrophytes minyak kayumanis A memberikan KHM 37,5 ig/mL, minyak kayumanis B .25 tg/mL dan minyak kayumanis C 18,75 g/mL.

An investigation of the antimicrobial activity of cinnamomum oils (Cinnamomum burmanni Nees ex Blume) against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, Streptococcus ,8 - hernolyticus Grup A, Pseudornonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853, and Trichophyton mentagrophytes has been done at the Laboratory of Microbiology , Departement of Pharmacy, Faculty of Mathematic and Sciences, University of Indonesia. The cinnamomum oils were destilated from cinnamornum bark. The major components of cinnamomum oils are cinnamaldehyde and eugenol. The research was done to compare the microbial activity from three kinds of cinrtamomurn oils. A sample contained 42,46 % cinnamaldehyde and 6,80 % eugenol. B sample contained 64,42 % cinnamaldehyde and 3,15 % eugenol. C sample contained 75,50 % cinnamaldehyde and 3,30 % eugenol. The methods used in this investigation are broth dilution to determine the MIIC (Minimum Inhibitoru Concentration) that is the lowest concentration which can inhibit the growth microba and cylinder diffusion to determine the diameter of growth inhibition zone around the cylinder. The result show that the antimicrobial activity between three kinds of cinnamomum oils were different. The C sample showed better antimicrobial activities, and than followed by B sample and A sample. Against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 A sample give the MIC of 312,5 .tg/mL, B sample give 250 .rg/mL, and C activities, and than followed by B sample and A sample. Against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 A sample give the MIC of 312,5 tg/mL, B sample give 250 ig/mL, and C sample 187,5 g/mL. Against Streptococcus fi - hemolyticus Group A, A sample give the MIC of 281,25 pg/mL, B sample give 250 pg/rnL, and C sample 218,75 tg/mL Against Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853, A sample give the MIC of 312,5 j.ig/mL, B sample give 28 1,25 tg/mL, and C sample 250 ig/mL. Against Trichophyton mentagrophytes A sample give the MIC of 37,5 jig/ml,, B sample give 25 jiglmL, and C sample 18,75 tg/mL."

"It has been investigated the plant of Cinnamomum burmannii Nees ex Blume from the West Sumatera as sources of antioxidant and antibacterial compounds. Extraction with n-hexane and ethanol showed the activities of antioxidant as radical scavenger and as the antibacteria againt Escherichia coli. Fractional from the crude extract on silica gel column with the n-hexaneethyl acetate solven gradient system for the n-hexane crude extract and the ethyl acetate-methanol solven gradient system for the ethanol crude extract yield three fractions. They are examined with radical scavenger method. The n-hexane crude extract and its fraction showed weak of antioxidant capacity but the ethanol crude extract and the two its fractions showed very powerful of antioxidant capacity with IC50 9.0 ppm, 7,8 ppm and 11.2 ppm respectively. A Fraction from the n-hexane crude extract (fraction A) and two fractions from the ethanol crude extract ( fraction B and fraction C) were analyzed UV, IR and GC-MS. Fraction A consist of trans cinnamaldehyde (54, 41 %), cinnamate acid (20,49 %), benzaldehyde (7,95 %) dan α-phenylacetaldehyde (4,30 %). Fraction B consist of trans–cinnamaldehyde (68,65 %), methyl cinnamate (9,20 %), methyl hexadecanoic (8,49 %) and methyl-9-Octadecenoic (6,99 %). Fraction C consist of ethyl tetradecanoic (43,56 %), ethyl laurate (39,48 %), ethyl hexadecanoic (12,16 %), dioctyl hexenedioic (2,98 %) and diisooctyl 1,2 benzenedicarboxylic (1,83 %). "ABSTRACT
Senyawa turunan dihidropiridin telah berhasil disintesis melalui reaksi Hantzsch multi komponen satu pot dengan mereaksikan aldehida aromatik, etil asetoatetat, dan ammonium asetat dengan menggunakan katalis guanidin. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan sintesis dua senyawa turunan dihidropiridin dengan memvariasikan aldehida aromatik yang digunakan yaitu sinamaldehid, dan benzaldehid. Berdasarkan hasil optimasi reaksi diperoleh kondisi optimum pada suhu ruang selama 180 menit waktu reaksi dengan 10 mol jumlah katalis. Persen yield yang didapat pada kondisi optimum tersebut pada produk senyawa 1 sebesar 78,6, terhadap produk senyawa 2 sebesar 56,2. Karakterisasi produk hasil sintesis telah dikonfirmasi dengan KLT, FTIR, Spektrofotometer UV-Vis, dan GC-MS. Pada senyawa turunan dihidropiridin hasil sintesis dilakukan uji aktivitas antioksidan dengan nilai IC50 untuk produk senyawa 1 sebesar 7980 ppm, untuk produk senyawa 2 sebesar 6344 ppm.

ABSTRACT
Abstract The dihydropyridine derivative compounds have been successfully synthesized through the multi component Hantzsch reaction of one pot by reacting the aromatic aldehyde, ethyl acetoatetate, and ammonium acetate using a guanidine catalyst. In this research, synthesis of two dihydropyridine derivative compounds by varying the aromatic aldehyde used is cinnamaldehyde, and benzaldehyde. Based on the optimization result, the optimum condition was obtained at room temperature for 180 min of reaction time with 10 mole of catalyst. The yield percentage obtained at the optimum condition was in product of compound 1 was 78.6, and product of compound 2 was 56.2 . Characterization of synthesis products have been confirmed with TLC, FTIR, UV Vis Spectrophotometer, and GC MS. In dihydropyridine derivative the result of synthesis was tested by antioxidant activity with IC50 value for product of compound 1 equal to 7980 ppm, for product of compound 2 equal to 6344 ppm."

"Pelarut organik memiliki beberapa masalah seperti toksisitas terhadap manusia dan beban lingkungan. Natural Deep Eutectic Solvent (NADES) adalah pelarut yang lebih ramah lingkungan untuk mengekstraksi senyawa biomarker tanaman dibandingkan dengan pelarut organik. Dalam penelitian ini, NADES digunakan sebagai pelarut untuk ekstraksi kulit kayu manis Cinnamomum burmannii yang mengandung biomarker trans-cinnamaldehyde dan kumarin. Optimalisasi ekstraksi untuk mendapatkan kandungan trans-cinnamaldehyde optimal dilakukan dengan menentukan jenis NADES (asam betaine-laktat, asam betain-malat, asam betain-malat dengan perbandingan 1: 1), penambahan air NADES (20) %, 40% dan 60%), waktu ekstraksi (10 menit, 30 menit, dan 50 menit) menggunakan Ultrasonic-Assisted Extraction (UAE), dan rasio pelarut sampel adalah 1:10. Sebagai perbandingan, ekstraksi konvensional dilakukan dengan metode soxhlet menggunakan etanol 96%, rasio sampel-pelarut 1: 10, dan ekstraksi 5 jam (3 siklus). Penentuan trans-cinnamaldehyde dan coumarin dilakukan dengan metode High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Analisis kondisi optimal untuk kadar trans-cinnamaldehyde dan kumarin dilakukan dengan metode ANOVA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa NADES asam betaine-laktat dengan penambahan air 40% dan waktu ekstraksi 30 menit menghasilkan kandungan trans-cinnamaldehyde tertinggi, yaitu 8,76 mg / g dan kadar kumarin 9,52 mg / g. Dalam metode ekstraksi soxhlet, hasil trans-cinnamaldehyde yang diperoleh adalah 0,71 mg / g dan kandungan kumarin adalah 4,25 mg / g. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode ekstraksi asam laktat UAE-NADES dapat mengekstraksi trans-cinnamaldehyde lebih baik daripada metode soxhlet dengan etanol 96%.

Organic solvents have several problems such as toxicity to humans and the environmental burden. Natural Deep Eutectic Solvent (NADES) is a more environmentally friendly solvent for extracting plant biomarker compounds compared to organic solvents. In this study, NADES was used as a solvent for the extraction of Cinnamomum burmannii cinnamon bark containing trans-cinnamaldehyde and coumarin biomarkers. Optimization of extraction to obtain optimal trans-cinnamaldehyde content is done by determining the type of NADES (betaine-lactic acid, betain-malic acid, betain-malic acid in a ratio of 1: 1), addition of NADES water (20)%, 40% and 60%) , extraction time (10 minutes, 30 minutes, and 50 minutes) using Ultrasonic-Assisted Extraction (UAE), and the solvent ratio of the sample was 1:10. As a comparison, conventional extraction was carried out using the Soxhlet method using ethanol 96%, a sample-solvent ratio of 1: 10, and extraction of 5 hours (3 cycles). The determination of trans-cinnamaldehyde and coumarin was carried out using the High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) method. Analysis of the optimal conditions for trans-cinnamaldehyde and coumarin levels was performed by the ANOVA method. The results showed that NADES betaine-lactic acid with the addition of 40% water and 30 minutes extraction time produced the highest trans-cinnamaldehyde content, which was 8.76 mg / g and coumarin levels 9.52 mg / g. In the soxhlet extraction method, the yield of trans-cinnamaldehyde obtained is 0.71 mg / g and the coumarin content is 4.25 mg / g. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the UAE-NADES lactic acid extraction method can extract trans-cinnamaldehyde better than the soxhlet method with 96% ethanol."

"Research on the oil contents of microalgae i.e. Botryococcus braunii, Nannochloropsisand Spirulina platensisof different cultivation time have been done at Research Center for Marine and Fishery Product Processing and Biotechnology(RCMFPPB) Laboratory, Slipi, Jakarta. The three species of microalgae were cultivated outdoor in 100 L of seawater medium of 20 ppt salinity using sun light intensity and continuous aerations. Experiments were conducted in three replicates.
Observations on the cell growth were carried out every 2 days and the biomass were harvested on day 5, 9 and 15 and sun-dried. Oil were extracted from the dry biomass using hexane. The highest
cell density was reached by S. platensiswith 8.46 log cell/mL on day 13, while the highest growth rate was shown by S. platensiswith growth rate (k) = 9.40 on day 3. The highest yield of oil was obtained from B. brauniion day 9 which was 14.90%."

"Kayu manis (Cinnamomum zeylanicum Breyn) merupakan tanaman yang ada di Indonesia dengan kandungan flavonoid yang diketahui memiliki efek antiinflamasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek antiinflamasi ekstrak kulit batang kayu manis terhadap tikus Sprague Dawley yang dibuat udem pada telapak kaki kirinya. Tikus dibagi menjadi lima kelompok yang masing-masing terdiri dari 6 ekor. Pada kelompok kontrol negatif diberikan CMC 0.5%, kelompok kontrol positif diberikan natrium diklofenak 27mg/200g bb, kelompok perlakuan diberi ekstrak etanol 70% kulit batang kayu manis dengan dosis 280mg, 560mg dan 1120mg/200g bb peroral. Setelah 30 menit pemberian peroral, telapak kaki kiri tikus diinduksi dengan 0.4 ml karaginan 1% untuk menimbulkan udem. Pengukuran volume udem dilakukan menggunakan pletismometer dalam interval waktu 1 jam selama 6 jam. Data yang diperoleh dihitung presentase penghambatan udemnya dan dianalisis menggunakan SPPSS 19. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan adanya perbedaan bermakna (p<0,05) pada pemberian ekstrak kayu manis dengan control positif dan kontrol negatif dan dosis 1120mg/200g bb yang paling baik memberikan efek sebagai antiinflamasi. Disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak kayu manis memiliki efek antiinflamasi.

Cinnamomum zeylanicum Breyn is one of Indonesian plant that contains flavonoid and known as anti-inflammatory agent. The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of C. zeylanicum Breyn bark extract as anti-inflammatory in rat Sprague Dawley that is induced edema on its left paw. The rats are divided into five groups and each group consists of six rats. Group I function as negative control is given, group II as positive control is given natrium diklofenac 27mg/200g bb, group III, IV and V are given the extract with dose 280mg/200g bb, 560mg/200g bb and 1120mg/200g bb. After 30 minute, left paw of the rats are injected with 0.4 ml carrageenan 1% to induce edema. The volume of edema was measured every hour during 6 hours using pletismometer. The percentage of edema inhibition is counted and analyzed using SPSS 19. The result shows that the extract treated was significantly different (p<0,05) with positive and negative control and at dose 1120mg/200g bb gives the best effect as an anti-inflammatory. In conclude, the extract has anti-inflammatory effect."

"Diabetes mellitus atau penyakit gula darah adalah salah satu penyakit yang cukup menonjol di antara penyakit-penyakit lain seperti penyakit jantung dan pembuluh darah, serta penyakit kanker. Pengobatan diabetes melitus dapat dilakukan dengan pemberian Insulin, obat hipoglikemik oral, dan obat herbal. Salah satu tanaman obat yang bisa dijadikan sebagai obat herbal untuk penyakit diabetes melitus adalah kayu manis.
Berdasarkan penelitian sebelumnya, kayu manis memiliki penghambatan terhadap aktivitas α-glukosidase, namun senyawa aktif tidak diketahui kepolarannya, sehingga dilakukan fraksinasi untuk mengidentifikasi golongan senyawa dari fraksi yang aktif. Pengujian dilakukan secara in vitro terhadap ekstrak petroleum eter, etil asetat, n-butanol dan air menggunakan α- glukosidase dan substrat p-nitrofenil-α-D-glukopiranosida yang menghasilkan produk paranitrofenol. Produk tersebut diukur serapannya menggunakan Spektrofotometer UV-Vis pada λ 400 nm. Parameter adanya aktivitas penghambatan yang dimiliki oleh ekstrak ditunjukan oleh nilai %inhibisi dan IC50.
Hasil uji penghambatan aktivitas α-glukosidase menunjukkan bahwa ke empat fraksi ekstrak kulit batang kayu manis menunjukkan aktivitas penghambatan. Fraksi ekstrak yang memiliki penghambatan terbaik terhadap aktivitas α- glukosidase adalah ekstrak n-butanol dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 1,168 μg/mL. IC50 ekstrak etil asetat, air dan petroleum eter adalah 19,239 μg/mL, 24,244 μg/mL, dan 69,717 μg/mL. Golongan senyawa yang dikandung oleh ekstrak n-butanol adalah flavonoid, glikosida dan tanin.

Diabetes mellitus or blood sugar disease is a quite prominent disease among other diseases such as heart and blood vessel, and cancer. Treatment of diabetes mellitus can be done by administering insulin, oral hypoglycemic drugs, and herbal medicine. One of the medicinal plants that could be used as herbal medicine for diabetes mellitus is cinnamon.
Based on previous studies, cinnamon has inhibitory activity against α-glucosidase, but the polarity of active compound is unknown, so that fractionation is done to identify the compound of the active fraction. The method was an in vitro model to extract of petroleum ether, ethyl acetate, n-butanol and water using α- glucosidase and substrate of p-nitrophenyl-α-D-glucopyranoside that produced p-nitrophenol. The product was measured by spectrophotometer UV-Vis at λ 400 nm. The parameters of inhibitory activity of extracts is shown by the values of % inhibition and IC50.
The test results of inhibitory activity of α-glucosidase showed that the four fractions of cinnamon bark extract, showed inhibitory activity. The extract fraction that have the best inhibitory activity against α-glucosidase is n-butanol extract with IC50 values of 1.168 mg/mL. IC50 values of ethyl acetate, water and petroleum ether extract is 19.239 μ/ml, 24.244 μ/mL, and 69.717 μ/ mL. The compounds contained by n-butanol extract are flavonoids, glycosides and tannins."
