Skripsi ini membahas pengerjaan dari real ke reel meminjam istilah Nezar AlSayyad yang merujuk realitas dan sinema menggunakan arsitektur modern di film Playtime Jacques Tati 1967 sebagai studi kasus Real dan reel adalah sebagai fokus utama skripsi ini Akhirnya skripsi ini mengamati konsep reel ke real bagaimana arsitektur dan film yang dapat mempengaruhi perspektif kita dalam hidup dan digunakan sebagai parameter untuk desain.

Architecture and film in this modern era are inseparable concerning the generation of perceptual spaces. Architecture is built in and around spaces, which may provide the setting for a film, whereas film stands as a two-dimensional medium to explore and present architecture as a narrative framework. Architecture is a fundamental component in order that film can deliver its narrative.

This thesis discusses how architectural representation is conveyed to encase the spatial narrative of a film and the important role they hold in conveying messages, underlying narratives, and the spatial experiences in a film. It discusses the workings of real to reel, borrowing Nezar AlSayyad's term in reference to the reality and the cinema, using the modern architecture in Jacques Tati's Playtime (1967) as a case in point. The real and reel stand as the main focuses of this thesis. Finally, it observes the concept of reel to real, how the architecture and film can affect our perspectives in life and be used as parameters for design."

"Form shadow adalah sebuah fenomena visual yang menarik karena mampumemberikan sense of depth dalam sebuah ruang melalui pola baru serta kontras yangdiciptakannya. Meskipun form shadow bukanlah sebuah objek fisik, form shadow tetap bisa dinikmati sebagai bagian dari interioritas. Hal ini disebabkan oleh dominasi indera mata manusia dalam merasakan sebuah pengalaman ruang. Tugas akhir ini kemudian mengkaji keterkaitan antara form shadow dan narasi melalui studi model dan bentuk serta pengkajian terhadap sinetron. Studi tersebut kemudian memberikan pemahaman akan beraneka ragam form shadow beserta narasi sebagai struktur sebuah arsitektur interior. Ketika kedua aspek tersebut digabung di dalam desain, diharapkan akan menjadi sebuah metode baru yang mampu memperkaya pengalaman ruang. Pada akhirnya, tugas akhir ini merupakan sebuah pengujian akan penggabungan form shadow dengan narasi sebagai sebuah metode perancangan arsitektur interior.

Form shadow is a visual phenomenon that can serve a sense of depth inside a space

through new patterns made and contrast that are created. Although this form shadow is no longer a physical object, it still can be enjoyed as a part of interiority. This is certainly caused by the dominance of human visual sense in engaging with spatial experience. This final project observed the connection between form shadow and narration through several experiences such as model and form study and also particular observation about soap opera (cinetron). This study then delivered us to a new understanding about the variations of form shadow and narration as a structure inside an interior architecture. When those aspects intertwine each other, the result could be a new method that enriches the spatial experience. Eventually, this final study can reveal the significant of form shadow and narration when both of them are intertwined. In the end, this final project is a trial of a new design method that intertwines form shadow and narration."
