"ABSTRAKTerjemahan beranotasi adalah terjemahan yang disertai dengan catatan yang berisi tentang diskusi permasalahan penerjemahan serta solusinya. Anotasi tidak hanya membahas permasalahan pernerjemahan dari segi linguistik tetapi juga dari segi sosial-budaya. Tujuan terjemahan beranotasi adalah memberikan pertanggungjawaban padanan yang dipilih pada penerjemahan mandiri yang dilakukan oleh penerjemah.Terjemahan anotasi ini akan membahas penerjemahan novel Under the Dragon: Travels in a Betrayed Land, karya Rory Maclean. Novel ini dipilih berdasarkan ketertarikan penerjemah pada cerita yang merupakan kisah nyata dan berisi kekayaan budaya. Metafora dan adegan percintaan dalam teks menjadi tantangan dalam menerjemahkan. Dalam menerjemahkan, penerjemah berusaha sedemikian rupa untuk mengalihkan pesan bukan bentuk. Metode yang digunakan dalam menerjemahkan adalah metode komunikatif. Metode ini dipilih dengan tujuan agar pesan tersampaikan dengan baik. Ada lima permasalahan utama yang dibahas dalam bagian anotasi: istilah asing, satuan ukuran, metafora, kalimat dan ungkapan. Beberapa teknik penerjemahan diterapkan untuk mengatasi permasalahan pemadanan.Dari analisis dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerjemahan bukanlah pekerjaan yang mudah karena tidak ada bahasa dan kebudayaan yang sama persis. Namun, penerjemahan bukanlah hal yang mustahil. Penerjemah harus menggali berbagai informasi dan mendapatkan ide kreatif dalam menemukan solusi berbagai permasalah penerjemahan yang is hadapi.

ABSTRACT

Annotated translation is a translation with annotation on discussion of problems in translation and their solutions. Not only problems in linguistics but also in socio-cultural are discussed in the annotation. The purpose of this annotated translation is to provide responsibility of the equivalent words chosen for the independent translation done.

This annotated translation will discuss the translation of novel: Under The Dragon: Travels in a Betrayed Land, by Rory Maclean. The reason in choosing this novel is derived from the translator's interest in a story based on reality and culture heritage. Metaphors and the love scenes challenge the translator to render than. When translating, the translator gives such effort to transfer meaning. The method used in the translation is communicative. The purpose of using this method is to convey the message in the text well. There are five problems discussed in the annotation: metaphors, foreign words, measurement, sentences and expression.

From the analysis, it is concluded that translation is not a simple work because there are no languages and cultures that are similar in this world. However, translating is not impossible, there are- a lot of methods and techniques that can be chosen when translating. Translator should also dig as much information as possible and be creative to find solution of the problems he/she faces in translating the source text."
