"The primary aim of this project was to design a device that can be used as a bicycle wheel truer. The project system will allow a wheel's current state to be measured and analysed using strain gauges to detect the degree of wobble and eccentricity. The strain gauges will produce a small voltage as its means of detection, so an amplifier needs to be designed to boost the signal level for increased measurement resolution. The system also requires some means of holding the bicycle wheel securely while it is being tested. The test results from the system will provide information about the extent of the wobble and eccentricity that occur in the wheel."

"Stability of wheel is very important for safety and comfort in riding a bike. For that reason, the project objective was to make a sensor that can perform wheel stability testing. To achieve the project objective, strain gauge were used. Strain gauges have the ability to measure very small changes in the length of a piece material. They are used to detect stress in structures. The strain gauges are glued to the side of a piece of metal or strain bar. When the strain bar is placed under stress it will changes its resistance. As a result of attaching strain gauges to strain bar, it will be applicable to use for both the eccentricity and for the side wobble of the wheel."

"Orientalisme adalah sebuah evaluasi terhadap teks-teks Barat yang selalu menggambarkan budaya ketimuran sebagai inferior dan menggambarkan Timur secara klise dan dalam stereotip tertentu. Penelitian ini mengamati representasi Orientalisme yang digambarkan dalam film Bicycle Bride (2010) dan film The Big Sick (2017). Analisis ini menggunakan kerangka teoretis Orientalisme yang dikemukakan oleh Edward Said (1978) dengan meneliti representasi orang Asia Selatan dan Kaukasia dalam dua film ini. Pendekatan teoritis dari penelitian ini berkonsentrasi pada analisis tekstual yang berfokus pada karakter dan narasi verbal. Selain itu, makalah ini juga mempertimbangkan aspek non-narasi, seperti visual dan audio, terutama bagaimana mereka menggambarkan diskriminasi perempuan Asia Selatan. Temuan pada makalah ini menunjukkan bahwa dalam dua film ini, masyarakat Timur digambarkan sebagai kuno, tidak rasional, kurang memiliki rasa individualitas, dan tidak mau belajar dan tumbuh melalui adaptasi bahasa lokal. Sementara itu, orang-orang Barat digambarkan sebagai orang yang baik hati, dan penyelamat dengan menghadirkan orang-orang Asia Selatan sebagai orang yang mempunyai budaya dan sosial yang kurang dan tidak memiliki agensi untuk mengatasi situasi mereka yang terpinggirkan.

Orientalism is an evaluation of Western texts that have always represented the East as an inferior other and constructs the East by giving stereotypical images and clichés. This paper observes the representation of Orientalism depicted in Bicycle Bride (2010) and The Big Sick (2017). The analysis is done within the theoretical framework of Orientalism proposed by Edward Said (1978) by examining the representations of South Asians and Caucasians in these two movies. The theoretical approach of this study concentrates on textual analysis focusing on the characters and verbal narratives. Moreover, this paper also takes into account the non-narrative aspects, such as visual and audio, especially how they portray the discrimination of South Asian women. The findings suggest that in these two movies, the orients are being portrayed as old fashioned, irrational, lacking all sense of individuality, and not willing to learn and grow through adaptation of the local language. Meanwhile, the Westerns are portrayed as good-natured, and saviors by presenting South Asians as cultural and socially deficient and lacking the agency to overcome their marginalized situations."

"ABSTRAKSepeda merupakan salah satu bentuk alat transportasi tradisional yang masih banyak digunakan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Untuk dapat meningkatkan kenyamanan bersepeda, dapat diterapkan sistem pengganti gigi otomatis atau bisa disebut dengan Cruise Speed Control yang biasa diterapkan pada sepeda motor matic. Sistem ini dapat diterapkan pada sepeda yang memiliki rasio variabel gigi. Namun, berbeda dengan sepeda motor yang menggunakan perputaran mesin, sepeda ini menggunakan kayuhan sepeda atau cadence dari kenyamanan seseorang saat bersepeda. Kenyamanan pada saat bersepeda dapat terukur dengan nilai rpm, karena rpm dapat menunjukkan tenaga maupun gaya yang diberikan oleh kaki pada pedal. Rpm dari kenyamanan bersepeda orang pada umumnya adalah 50 hingga 65 rpm, sehingga sistem ini akan mencoba untuk menjaga kayuhan sepeda berada pada rentang rpm tersebut. Perputaran kayuhan sepeda akan diterima melalui sensor sebagai data rpm yang menjadi dasar atau variabel tetap untuk mengganti gigi. Dengan sistem kontrol yang diatur oleh arduino, perintah tersebut bisa diteruskan menuju LCD sebagai tampilan rpm dan menuju servo sebagai aktuator dari sistem untuk menggerakkan derailleur pada sepeda untuk mengganti gigi.

ABSTRACTBicycle is one mode of traditional transportation which still have many users in everyday life. For increasing comfort when cycling, it can be applied by system that can change gear ratio automatically or can be said Cruise Speed Control that usually applied in automatic motorcycles. This system can only be applied in bicycles that have variable gear ratio. But, different than motorcycle which use rotation on engine, this bicycle uses comfortable pedaling or can be said cadence. Comfortable cadence when cycling can be measurable by rpm, because rpm could show power or even force that given by foot. Rpm of common comfortable cadence is on range between 50 until 65 rpm, so this system will try to keep the cadence in between the aforementioned comfortable cadence. The rotation when pedaling will be the input of sensor as rpm which will be the basic or fixed variable for gear shifting. With control system processed by arduino, that command will be transferred to LCD as view screen for rpm and transferred to another actuator which is servo motor to move the derailleur on bicycle to shift gear."

Berdasarkan pengamatan ITDP pada Juni 2020, jumlah pengendara sepeda meningkat hingga 10 kali lipat dibandingkan Oktober 2019. Peningkatan jumlah pengendara sepeda sejalan dengan peningkatan jumlah kecelakaan sepeda berdasarkan data dari Polda Metro Jaya dan komunitas Bike to Work. Pengendara sepeda memiliki risiko 55% lebih tinggi terlibat dalam kecelakaan pada malam hari dibandingkan siang hari. Lampu berkedip dapat meningkatkan conspicuity pengendara sepeda dan menjadi solusi untuk masalah keterlihatan pengendara sepeda yang merupakan penyebab utama kecelakaan. Penelitian ini bertujan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pola kedipan lampu sepeda terhadap conspicuity pengendara sepeda dan mengevaluasi faktor kognitif pengemudi terhadap pola kedipan lampu sepeda. Penelitian ini melibatkan 12 responden (6 laki-laki dan 6 perempuan) untuk membandingkan conspicuity pengendara sepeda yang dihasilkan dari setiap pola kedipan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pattern full blink lebih meningkatkan conspicuity pengendara sepeda dengan jarak deteksi sejauh 80,25 meter, dibandingkan pattern partial blink dengan jarak deteksi sejauh 76,09 meter. Selain itu, kondisi pedal sepeda yang berkaitan dengan adanya biological motion dan jarak deteksi yang lebih jauh memberikan indikasi mengenai proses kognitif responden dalam mengenali pesepeda.

Based on ITDP's observation in June 2020, the number of cyclists increased up to 10 times compared to October 2019. The increase in the number of cyclists is in line with the increase in the number of bicycle accidents, based on data from Polda Metro Jaya and the Bike to Work community. Cyclists have a 55% higher risk of being involved in an accident at night than during the day. Flashing lights can increase the conspicuity of cyclists and provide a solution to the problem of cyclist visibility, which is a major cause of accidents. This study aimed to determine the effect of bicycle light flashing patterns on cyclist conspicuity and to evaluate driver cognitive factors in relation to bicycle light flashing patterns. The study involved 12 respondents (6 males and 6 females) to compare the cyclist conspicuity resulting from each blink pattern. The results showed that the full blink pattern increased cyclists’ conspicuity more, with a detection distance of 80.25 meters, compared to the partial blink pattern with a detection distance of 76.09 meters. In addition, the condition of the bicycle pedals associated with biological motion and longer detection distances provides an indication of the respondents' cognitive process in recognizing cyclists.

"Meningkatnya pengguna sepeda di Indonesia berbanding lurus dengan adanya risiko kecelakaan. Pentingnya mencegah kecelakaan dengan melengkapi komponen dan alat keselamatan sepeda perlu ditingkatkan. Salah satu komponen sepeda yang wajib dimiliki oleh setiap pengendara sepeda berdasarkan kebijakan pemerintah yaitu lampu sepeda. Walaupun kebijakan telah ditetapkan, tetapi ditemukan keluhan mengenai kurangnya pencahayaan pada sepeda khususnya pada malam hari yang dapat membahayakan seluruh pengguna jalan. Maka dari itu, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk merancang pencahayaan pada sepeda berdasarkan prinsip ergonomi dengan metode kerangka kerja perancangan produk rasional oleh Nigel Cross. Proses perancangan dimulai dengan mengidentifikasi peluang hingga mengembangkan detail rancangan usulan. Konsep pencahayaan pada sepeda dirancang dengan memerhatikan biological motion pengendara sepeda dengan pola kedipan lampu yang membentuk segitiga sehingga dapat dilihat dan dikenali oleh pengguna jalan lain khususnya pada malam hari. Selain itu, rancangan usulan pencahayaan pada sepeda ini memanfaatkan gerakan rotasi dari crank pedal untuk menggerakan generator yang berfungsi untuk menghidupkan lampu pada sepeda.

The increase in bicycle users in Indonesia is directly proportional to the risk of accidents. The importance of preventing accidents by completing bicycle safety components and tools needs to be increased. One of the bicycle components that must be owned by every cyclist based on government policy is a bicycle light. Even though the policy has been set, there are complaints about the lack of lighting on bicycles, especially at night which can endanger all road users. Therefore, this research was conducted to design bicycle lighting based on ergonomic principles using the rational product design framework method by Nigel Cross. The design process begins with identifying opportunities to develop a detailed plan of the proposed concept. The concept of lighting on bicycles is designed by taking into account how the biological movement of cyclists when riding by applying a pattern of flashing lights that form a triangle shape so that other road users can see and recognize them, especially at night. In addition, the proposed lighting design on bicycles utilizes the rotational movement of the crank pedal to drive a generator which functions to turn on the lights on bicycles."
